I have been here a few times. They do have decent quality safes, not the best but not the worst. I would suggest buying a lower end safe from them, because many of the high priced safes still have the same 12g steel and aren’t any more secure than the cheaper options.
I had made arrangements to purchase a safe when it was to be delivered to the store on the following Friday. Once I arrived, they told me the safe was no longer for sale until another few weeks so they could advertise it. So I wasted a week securing a friend with a truck and a few guys to help. The man was rude on the while I explained this to him, even though he was the one who broke his promise. I will take my money elsewhere.
Like another reviewer said earlier, make sure you get any promises in writing because they are not men of their word.

After our daughters home was broken into, and the theifs carried off their safe that was not bolted down– we decided it was time to get a larger one for us AND have it bolted down. (we also had a small safe not bolted). We went to Liberty Safes– The sales man was excellent, showed my husband a few different ones, helped him pick just the right one for our needs. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. When it was delivered, the delivery men were also very friendly, showed us how to operate the safe, answered a few questions. Our new safe is great! Holds a lot of things including cameras, ipads, laptops, other important items– and its BOLTED to the garage floor.

Customer service was great. Rich had helped me twice with questions and sale. Delivery was even better on time and professional. The reason for 2 stars Is because of something I was told I could get and after purchase and delivery they would not deliver what was promised and with a lame excuse.
Just get anything you are told in writing.

I have been in the market for a safe for a long time. I recently had an attempted break in and realized now is the time to get a safe. I headed over to Liberty Safes and was immediately directed to Rich. I spent over an hour getting all kinds of information from him which was really informative. I ended up purchasing the safe I wanted and they were able to deliver the safe within the next 3 days. I cant thank Rich and these guys enough for the help.

A few months back, I purchased a safe from Liberty Safes of San Jose. I would say that my customer experience was better than I could have ever expected.
For starters, Alan was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about his product lines. He took time to show me what my options were based on my budget. We discussed all of the different features, fire ratings, materials, etc. He had all the answers. I had been researching safes online for about 2 weeks before I went in so I was kind of testing him and he really knew his stuff. I certainly trusted him.
The price I paid for my safe was very fair and lower than anywhere else I had seen except a couple of shady looking online retailers. I am more than happy to pay a little bit extra in order to support a local business and to have someone to physically talk to in case of a problem.
I ended up using Liberty’s delivery service. The delivery charge was also significantly lower than I had been quoted elsewhere. When you buy something that weighs about 600 pounds empty, delivery is almost an absolute necessity. I have no idea how I would have ever transported otherwise. They kind of have you by the you-​know-​whats and a lot of companies seem to gouge because of this. I would have paid much more because, what other options do I have?
As for the delivery guys, they were awesome. I wish I could tell you their names but it has been a few months and I lost the paper I had written them on. They arrived on schedule, were very courteous and professional, friendly, informative, and cheerful. Their truck has no markings to indicate that you are having a safe delivered which is great because this is kind of a private purchase. The guys were careful not to scuff or damage anything. While they were getting the safe in place, they were very talkative and outgoing. I cannot speak more highly of their professionalism. And, I really hope the owners of Liberty see this and know that their delivery guys are doing a fantastic job of representing their company while in the field.
All in all, I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this company. I do not make many reviews on Unilocal,but this customer experience really stood out and I felt obligated to share here.

Same type of situation as the other one star. I placed an order for a gun safe, I received a call the next day (Tuesday) giving me the details of my order and that it was in stock and details of delivery that would be Friday 9 am. So cool I was excited, here comes Friday. 9 am. 10.11.12. so I call in and say I had a scheduled delivery at 9am what’s up. His reply was that «the trucks had already left and your safe just got in. I wouldn’t be able to lock in a delivery date anytime in the next few weeks,» keep in mind the dude had attitude like he couldn’t be bothered. This shop is tacky I cancelled my order and would much rather buy my liberty safe elsewhere. POS company in San Jose

Great place! Looks like it’s been there for a while and I can see why. The customer service is great. Allen makes you feel very comfortable about buying a safe and what you’ll be spending your hard earned money on. The delivery guys were great too.

Alan and the men that installed the safe are the greatest group of guys. I feel so much better now that I have a safe to put all those items that can not be replaced some where secure. Thank you so much

Excellent selections of safes. Before you go in have an idea of what you are looking for. Many customers had gone to their store a bunch of times to shop around. These things are fairly expensive but definitely worth it especially due to Liberty’s life time warranty on break in and fire. The sales person kept recommending 2 specific safes. But after walking around and looking at all the specs I decided on a completely different safe. The safes are made in the USA and the quality shows. Most of the material is made of cheap plastic and wood. The plastic holes that allow the hinge to close into the safe are stapled into the side panels. Kinda ghetto for a 2k safe. I am hoping this will be my only safe purchase 4ever. woot.

I am not a customer of Liberty and have not given them any business. I called on behalf of a client. Alan was knowlegable, helpful, and sent out the requested information immediately. I can’t remember the last time I was treated so well. All businesses should aspire to this level of customer service.

Excellent customer service, terrific prices, and quality products made right here in the U.S.A! What more can you ask for? I spent six months searching for the perfect safe, and that ended today. I heard about this place from a friend a few months ago, and didn’t want to drive down from San Francisco. I finally did, and it was well worth it. I found the safe I was looking for and brought it home, same day. The salesman alone made the deal completely worthwhile (Alan). Many thanks for his broad knowledge and fantastic attention to service. I would recommend anyone looking for a safe to visit Liberty of San Jose — at the very least we can help keep money right in our community and help support American made products!

Great selection, knowledgeable staff. The installation team was courteous and professional. The prices are comparable to Costco, but we got exactly what we needed in the right size and fire rating. I love supporting a wonderful small business.

I will give credit where credit is due. Buying from Alan Hills of Liberty Safes was a joy. No hard selling, no haggling, honest answers to all my questions, and very positive guy to do business with. A few of the other brands I called were equal to or less expensive but a couple bad mouthed the competition, which I am not a fan of.

Man service was EXCELLENT! Alan answered all my questions and then some! Very knowledgeable and so was his crew. I finally chose Liberty safe over others probably just from talking to Alan :) Other sellers just didn’t seem as courteous — if they seem stand off-​ish, imagine what after the sale will be like.
I chose to have the safe delivered and installed. Nothing but professionalism throughout the whole process. Rick and Rich knew exactly what they were doing as I’m sure the whole crew would. Yes, only two guys to deliver and install my safe with no problems and no hassles. Let me tell you… IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY! If you’re going to buy a nice quality safe with a company that stands behind their merchandise, then pay for the delivery and installation.
Nothing but high praise for this company, store, and its crew. Highly recommened and I will definitely get my next safe here.

What can I say? He is very knowledgeable and he is not here to empty your pockets. He is very nice and provides excellent customer service!
My buddy and I bought a safe here and do not regret anything. We drove 45 minutes from the bay just to purchase a safe from him.
I chose to deliver and install myself because the price of delivery was high. 250 to 300 dollars for a safe delivery is kind of steep. A few friends, and a truck will suffice. I did it with 4 bodies and it was a 500 lbs safe.

Liberty Safe is a great shop for any security needs you have — home, office, etc.
Alan is great and very knowledgeable on all the products.
Delivery is done with ease with their own white glove movers. I have used these guy a few times, even for moves and they are always kind, courteous and professional!
