The server was fantastic, friendly and made me feel very welcome. The lunch cobb salad($ 10) was a bit watery and seemed like all minimum-benefit iceberg, and there were no tomatoes or avocado as promised on the menu, which was what I was there for. Blue cheese dressing a bit watery too. I’ll be back as I am looking for lunch in the area every few weeks and hope things improve.

I swear to god this used to be a strip club. Atm at the entrance, mirror ceiling, all tables faced towards the center… And as for the 1 star rating — they were extremely understaffed. Our waitress had only 2 tables, because only 2 groups of people were inside. She was extremely stressed and showed it, maybe she’s not normally a waiter? And one person never got their glass of water no matter how many times we reminded them. The super appetizer deal was very small for the price. Disappeared way too fast. Bread was stale, obviously microwaved. And the food is all frozen and fried, and doesn’t match the description. My cousin got a «delicately prepared» salmon, and was served battered fried fish. She couldn’t eat it because it was fried and would be too harsh on her stomach(she has Crohns). Overall, you’re paying prices for a fancy restaurant, and getting served fast-food quality meals. All I can say is thank goodness we didn’t get food poisoning.

Great service, food comes fast, everything was DELICIOUS! I had the eye opener breakfast. Awesome! Cute place too. Ann was our waitress, she made our whole day better! So friendly!

I have finally found my «go to» place for a Monte Carlo sandwich. The place is very old school with décor being from a bygone day. However, service and food quality have remained very current. Though not as sweet as the one you’ll find at Café Orleans in Disneyland, their MC sandwich is probably one of the best that I’ve had. It strikes a perfect balance of ham, cheese, and turkey. In fact, the turkey looks hand carved as opposed to be deli meat. Their fries taste very good as well. My only recommendation is to serve raspberry preserves instead of Smucker’s Strawberry jam. Other than that, it’s all good!

I was pleasantly surprised because the area around it is industrial. But the inside is nice, mirrored so it looks huge. Food was good — comfort food, just what I wanted. Waiter was pleasant — slow, but pleasant.

We have been coming here for years. How ever we were treated so bad last night. Our waitress was great. She felt bad and paid for my drink. They wanted us out so the next party could have our table. My husband did not get to finish his dinner. We are not sure we will return anymore. This makes me sad as we use to love this place. I see we were not the only ones that had this bad New Years Eve. The food is OK. Nothing really exceptional, but there are some good items on the menu. Effie’s was turning into a go to place for my family and friends, but the service from one of waitresses was too bad, one too many times. Not sure of her name, but she is a dark haired older woman. The first poor experience I chalked it up to her just being crank and we just joked about it. The second experience with her she was just outright rude. Never again.

Over priced food! The food was horrible. $ 27 for three piece lamb chops, lack of seasoning and overcooked. Prime rib was horrible. For the same price you might as well go to Original Joe’s. Also they took 30 mins for the food to come out!!!

AMAZINGPRIMERIB! I have to say… The PRIMERIB, bone in NEVER disappoints. Tender, lots of flavor, and they make their own horseradish… yum! I’ve been coming here for years and they are always consistent! Great food, ample servings, great service… has it all

Prime rib extra cut!!! Best I’ve had in California. Chicken Marsala is owners sons favorite and mine too. I don’t care for a lot of the other items so get your meet eating friend and order that prime rib!!!

It was meh. Portions are small compared to prices and we were charged more than the menu price. Also, we had to ask for missing items ie meal came with garlic bread which we never received. Dinner bread is microwaved. Asked for a medium burger and it was overcooked. One thing I did like was bun was grilled. Won’t be back. Other places do the same menu for less and you get more. Don’t know how this place stays open, it was empty on a Friday night.

This is our neighborhood go-to place. I like all the waitresses, with standout 4 star Michelle. I feel like I’m getting some kind of silent blessing every time I see her(and I’m not the religious type). Also love the way Amy makes our drinks in the bar. Food i really good… especially breakfast which is always a standout. This is a nice place to go when you want to have a good conversation and some good All-American food.

The nicest and perhaps the only dive-bar left south of Alviso. Friendly patrons yes, but the bar staff has mastered the art of making new customers feel uncomfortable. Rude would be pushing it, but in good faith, I could never recommend this place to any friends or enemies for that mater. Spare yourself the perpetuate of disrespect.

Has the potential for being a fun karaōke spot, EXCEPT the DJ is a rude cranky old timer who seemed angry for anyone who took his spot! My wife went for a girl’s night and had fun despite the«mean man»! Too bad… The bartender and crowd was great but that DJ! He yelled at you if you weren’t prepared with a song choice of 10,000 songs!!! Sheesh! Lighten up, Grandpa!

I came here with my friend from out of town because I know they have great food. We sat at the bar to eat and the bartender was instantly rude to us. I’m not sure if it was because we aren’t her regulars because she seemed to bend over backwards for other people right in front of us. She ignored us for 10 minutes which resulted in another man coming to serve our coffee(which Is very good) The food and drinks were great but the service is why the stars are low.

Since I’m the Duchess of this fine establishment I thought it was only fair that I finally write a review. I usually come every weekend for breakfast. The coffee alone will get me out of bed. There’s usually never a wait and service is fast. It needs to be updated from it’s 1970’s theme, but it doesn’t bother me. The price is affordable, portions are a good size(I usually take half of my country skillet home), coffee is consistently refilled, and service is always friendly(minus the 80 year old waitress — avoid her at ALL costs — she’s rude & mean — and I REFUSE to sit in her section). I like the country skillet and omelets. I’d stay away from the French toast — it has NO flavor to it. I’ve come here for dinner a few times and it’s also good. More pricey, but I’ve never been disappointed. They have such a HUGE menu! I’m surprised they have so many things to choose from. Something for everyone I guess. I’d recommend their Veal Parmagian or Seafood Pasta. And yes, I’ve been to the bar for karaōke. Sure, I’m the youngest person in there but the drinks are cheap and strong and the people sure are entertaining!

I love Effie’s — especially the waitress who works the morning shift! G_d bless her… she should be retired, but nope, she’s working her tail off making patrons happy with plates of eggs, pancakes, greasy thin bacon and bottomless coffee cups. Okay, so the place is a throwback to a bygone era, the food is diner style, but it works. I’ve never, ever had a bad experience at Effie’s and seriously, the servers are awesome! Yes, I am a fan. 4 stars(using a modified grading system that would normally rate this place about 1.75 stars, but I love the 80 year old breakfast waitress — she works SO hard!) ;-)
