Campbell Memorial Chapel is a full service funeral home. We offer families personalize arrangement services for burial, cremation, shipping out of state or out of the country. Each family’s needs are special. We take the time to listen, offer guidance and counsel about visitation/​service/​ceremony, then we take care of all the details. We serve all backgrounds and all traditions. We also offer affordable pre-​planning services for both funeral and cemetery services. When we receive someone into our care they remain in the care of Darling Fischer staff at all times. We are partnered with Los Gatos Memorial Park and can coordinate purchasing cemetery property pre-​need or at the time of need for burial or placement services.

History

Established in 1953.

Darling Fischer was established in 1931 by Rev. Darling at our Garden Chapel location on the corner of 10th and Santa Clara Streets. Clyde Fischer purchased the business from Rev. Darling. In 1944 Jack Fischer joined his father in the business. Campbell Memorial Chapel was opened in 1953. Chapel of the Hills in Los Gatos was opened in 1954. In 1978 they purchased Los Gatos Memorial Park. Darling Fischer and Los Gatos Memorial Park offer families the convenience and value of one business able to provide both funeral and cemetery services.

All the Sunday afternoons when my husband and I would walk past this chapel in the heart of downtown Campbell, we never imagined we would ever need their services. When our infant daughter passed away unexpectedly, we remembered the local mortuary, and decided to stop in to see if they could help. It turned out to have been the best decision we could’ve made. Bruce was so kind and so gentle with us in our time of such shock and grief. He was comforting, understanding, and helpful, and handled the situation as well as we could’ve ever hoped. He took the reigns in helping guide us in what to do, and made the process as easy as possible. I felt like we really received extra special care– and we had a small memorial service before the cremation at the Los Gatos branch, and Bruce was there for us then as well. He presented her in such a way that we were able to spend those important last moments with her, and he helped us choose a beautiful and appropriate urn for our baby girl. No one wants to need this service, but when you do, you couldn’t be in better hands.

My family and I had a great experience. It is not everyday that you can give a 5 star review but the team took great care and really looked out for the best intention of our family. The facility worked out well and we were overwhelmed with the amount of flowers that our family received. Flowers were all over the facility. You will not be disappointed. Family type of care which is important in times of need.

I can’t say how thankful I am for this place and their loving and compassionate staff. My grandfathers passing was not easy. Our family had pre-​planned everything so that we can grieve and not have to worry about logistics. Through a recommendation, we booked at another funeral home which promised to fulfill my grandfathers last wish of having a viewing the next day. They promised and fell through. So I frantically called around and remembered this place in Campbell. I called 10mins to closing and asked them for their help. Pam from Los Gatos location compassionately took care of everything. She knew I didn’t want to bother w minor details and knew what our priorities were. She made some calls and made everything happen… Even had my grandfather brought to their facility within a couple of hours and assured me he was in good hands. She gave us their back number as she pulled a late night and did not hesitate at all. My sister met w her staff in Campbell the next morning and was so pleased and happy w how they handled things… Professional and w heart. Something everyone working in this field should have… And it was genuine. I really can’t say enough about this place. THANK YOU for helping my family in a difficult time.

This review is for Cindy (I think that was her name) who greeted my family and I as we entered the facility for my husband’s grandfather’s funeral. She was so nice and went out of her way to make sure that my own family’s specific needs were met the entire time that we were at the chapel. It was very nice to be met by such a thoughtful, upbeat personality on a rather sad day. She made me authentically laugh, her interaction with us deserves 5 stars.

The only good thing about this place is that you’ don’t have to worry too much about the cremation. Otherwise they are terrible at communicating and more than double the price of other crematories. Our rep repeatedly didn’t return our phone calls or emails. He told us he would take care of x, y, z but he didn’t until 3 of my family members called to Complain. I don’t recommend this place at all.

You were supportive and informative and helped us «keep it together». We were so relieved to see you Sunday morning — coming in on a day you don’t work to give us the support we needed. Thank you to Todd for coordinating the service/​event. You were patient and respectful. Thank you Cornell for your early Sunday morning work making a 24 hour cremation happen. Thanks to Dennis for taking my many late Saturday night calls. And lastly to Mauro — for helping us with the most difficult part.

Ambiance: Comforting. Each pew had a tissue box as well as one by the casket. Speaker system and projector were in good condition. A bit stuffy but what can you expect. Not too cold and not too warm inside. Hot and cold drinking water available. Room for food and beverage consumption is in the hallway.
Service: We were greeted right away and directed to the room. There was another man who greeted us there. They are supposed to close at 9 but they let us stay until 10.
Overall: I felt that this mortuary took care of my family and were very professional and accommodating.

Knowing that our mother didn’t have much time left, we began our search for a funeral home that would help us through the inevitable. We called around to several places and were immediately impressed with the professional and caring manner of each and every staff member that we came into contact with at Darling-​Fischer. They guided us through the process of handling all of the details that must be taken care of at a time like this while keeping in mind our budget concerns.
We were never rushed and they were very respectful of our preferences and religious beliefs. We didn’t know it beforehand, but they have an excellent working relationship with our church and know the staff there by name. The people at Darling-​Fischer were always kind and patient. When the time came, everything went smoothly according to plan and on budget.
It is good to know that there are professional, compassionate people like the ones at Darling-​Fischer who know what they are doing and can help people through such hard times. We recommend them to anyone who is going through this difficult time.

I know this is kinda messed up talking crap about a memorial chapel, but why is this place even here?!
My friend passed away n his fam held his memorial service here… Really sad n depressing stuff…
However, this place is in the middle of downtown campbell, right near Aqui and Sonoma Chicken. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU ESTABLISH A CHAPEL IN THE MIDDLE OF DOWNTOWN WHERE THEY BLAST HELLA SPANISH MUSIC NEXTDOOR AND EVERYONES DRINKING AND HAVING A GOOD TIME… It’s so depressing. Every frikken 10 seconds you hear either a loudass car engine or a car bumping loudass hip hop music with freak subs. What the hell were these ppl thinking??? I couldn’t focus on the service for my friend. It was sad yet extremely frustrating. And finally when the service is finished and you walk out all sad, first thing you see are ppl right across the street dancing, eating, drinking, and some are looking over at you like ur some poor bastard.
Plus there is NO parking since it’s downtown. You have to park in a parking structure that is already full of ppl going everywhere…
I’m sorry but I would never recommend this place. This place is a joke.
