We hired Crase construction in 2012 to rebuild a duplex that had major fire damage. They did an awesome job and kept ontime and on budget.
We recently decided to sell the property and had an issue with the HVAC unit not being installed properly. I contacted Crase and they got back to me the same day and came out to see the issue.
They immediately admitted it was installed improperly and made arrangements to have it corrected so we could close on the sale.
They were awesome in response time and totally backed up their work.
I would highly recommend Crase construction for any repairs or remodels you need to have done.

I would give zero stars if I could. Maybe Crase is good after a fire, but they are clueless when it comes to water damage and mold remediation. I agree with other reviewers — Matt, the guy who did the estimate, was super suave and charming up until their bid got accepted. Then he disappeared, and I never heard a word from him. Despite what’s recommended by the California Department of Public Health, they never once did a mold test, never once brought in a dehumidifier before or after the water damaged area was removed, and oh, let’s take the old, moldy items out of the closet and put them in the garage with your stuff that wasn’t damaged so that mold can grow on those things too!
Now, six weeks later the bathroom and closet remediation/​remodel is still not finished. But wait till you see the shoddy job they’ve done. The initial water damage and mold were caused by water from the shower leaking through tile into the dry wall. You think they’d make sure that the grout was totally sealed this time around. Nope, they obviously want to cause more water damage in order to do the job again in a couple years!
On top of it all, the workers have been thoughtless and inept all along. There are dirty fingerprints all over the newly painted wall, they tracked mud in constantly, and they even got paint on the carpet in a room where they weren’t even working. Don’t forget how they put in the old, moldy closet shelf and rod back into the closet.
If you have water damage, stay far away from Crase.

I coudln’t give Crase a higher recommendation. They were absolutely awesome, from start to finish.
Our house burned to the ground… literally…in 2014. After living there since 1963, my 85 year old mother had hired another contractor — American Technologies — and after 6 months had no contract & nothing had been done. (Avoid ATI at ALL costs). I got involved, got rid of ATI & asked Crase if they’d be interested in giving us a bid, since they were already doing the house next door. The estimator, Eric Sullivan, provided a quote quickly, & they got started right away.
They really stepped up & did an amazing job. The house was an Eichler, which has some challenging aspects not found in ‘normal’ houses, and the results are beautiful. Not only did they come in 6 months late, in late November, they finished on time & budget. We were back in the house July 4^th. The PM, John Conti, kept us informed daily on the progress, questions & concerns were resolved immediately, changes we’d made after the fact didn’t delay or change costs. They even suggested some improvements to the plans along the way. The few minor disputes I had were settled quickly & fairly.
Everyone at Crase — from the office staff to Jon, the owner — was professional, reliable & extremely helpful, above & beyond what I’d expect from any Contractor. The quality of their work — and the results — are amazing. The house is beautiful, down to the last detail. Better than it was brand new. And they still answer questions & concerns quickly — regardless of how stupid or unrelated to their work those questions may be.

Crase is the first place I look for «forensic carpentry»; ie. damage source analysis. They’ve helped me out numerous times there. A nice calm detailed report on damage sources is very nice to have when you’re in a Townhouse and a shared wall has damage that may have come from a neighbor’s sprinklers or the HOA’s gutters or be part of original construction. When everyone’s experts all cite the same details, figuring out who pays for what is simple and hassle-​free. Matt’s reports from Crase have smoothed the way for my insurance adjustor on recent water damage as well.
Availability is sometimes an issue; so, I do end up using other contractors — sometimes that works well, but when it doesn’t Crase has come through with decent bids when another thought they had my wallet captive and could overcharge midstream on a fence replacement. Crase also stuck by their original estimate after it became clear the small job of installing a standard size dryer vent was going to take a lot more work than originally anticipated.

I highly recommend this company. The whole team there from front office staff to the project managers are awesome! We had a kitchen fire and they walked us through the whole process and helped with every step of the way !!’ Way to go Crase team !!

Crase Construction did a GREAT job remodeling my home. They are very professional and have great ideas for things I had not even thought about. They even caught a few «snafoos» that the architect had drawn in. Their entire team was great to work with. They finished the job in a timely fashion and would have been on budget, had I not kept adding things! ;-) I would recommend them to friends and family and Unilocalers!

I want to take a moment to let you know how extremely happy and satisfied we are with our two bathroom remodels. Your company was very strongly recommended and I am so pleased that we chose Crase Construction.
Let me take a minute to explain what you’ve probably heard many times from many customers. It is really difficult to make a decision that involves inconvenience to one’s family, a large amount of time and money. Just to be safe my husband and I interviewed several companies (even though I was quite sure we would end up choosing yours).
From day one, when Eric Sullivan visited us and walked through the steps we felt like we had made the correct choice. After we signed the papers and I requested (per advice) John Conti for our project manager, we KNEW we had made the correct choice.
We never have had one moment of doubt or displeasure with any of the decisions, changes in order, scheduling or all of the other myriad problems that might arise. It has been (dare I say it?) almost fun! Your workers are all outstanding, polite, clean, and very pleasant to have on site.
It’s really like working with a family. All issues are addressed with smiles and all details are treated as important.
The bathrooms look fantastic and we are so happy with the results.
We will be to able to confidently recommend «the Crase Construction family» and look forward to another phase of remodel with them in the future.

If, you want a construction co that treats you home repair as if, they were working on their own home then Crase is it.
Scott Howell our production manager met me in our home after a fire and reassured me that our home would be back to normal and he was so right it was beautiful after!
He kept us informed throughout the project and worked directly with our insurance company regarding payment, removing alot of stress from a stressful situation.
They even quoted and did some additional work that needed to be done at our house as a seperate project and completed all of it during the time they promised. As, the other person said all the Crase guys were knowledgeable and personable.

Crase Construction truly is «The Right Experience». Jon Crase and his team are personable and thorough. They pay attention to detail and offered great advice. I was apprehensive about making lifetime decisions for my home (cabinets, granite, marble, home layout, etc.), but the team provided options within my budget and brilliant ideas. I could not be happier!
The Crase team is trustworthy, diligent, and treated me like family. I would not hesitate to pick up the phone and call them for ANYTHING!

Our garage needed to be renovated because of a fire and Crase did such a wonderful job! All of the workers are super friendly and keep you updated on everything that’s going on which I LOVED. We’ll definitely be using this company for any future projects :)

I couldn’t be more pleased with Crase.
I had a fire in the condo balcony so the sliding glass door had to be replaced, stucco wall repaired, and balcony repainted.
The way Crase works is there’s an Estimator who comes out first and gives an estimate. A project manager who comes next and schedules the sub-​contractors to come in and finish the job in pieces. They also contacted the insurance adjustor to revise the estimate.
The Crase guys are all intelligent and personable. They know everything and do everything properly, and deal with the customer politely.
I was happy with their chosen subcontractors as well, who were bilingual and spoke English well. They worked quickly and professionally.
Crase is the best experience I’ve had with a contractor to date.
If you want worry-​free repairs done, these are your guys. I didn’t have to stress that much and just let Ryan (a great project manager) handle everything. I just had to be there to open the door.

I would have to agree with these other reviewers. I did not even end up getting work done by them (long story of getting an accurate estimate from them below) We had a flood in our second bathroom of a 2 BR condo. So the entire bathroom and carpet in the hallway near the bathroom had to be torn out.
Our nieghbor decided to use Crase and we interviewed them and another contractor. Initially our estimator came right on time, very personable, and professional. Thought everything would be great. We got an initial quote, whoa! this is a great price and less than some of the other contracts. Then… hold your horses:
1.) Carpet — initially gave us a pretty low quote, much cheaper than S&G carpet. Made us wonder if this included everything like carpet pad, and tear and haul away of our old carpet. I e-​mail them to verify this is the quote for XYZ carpet to make sure. Oh, you wanted that carpet? That’s another $ 2K.
Sorry I must have been unclear when the estimator came and I told him we want this specific type of carpet or something of comprable quality. Apparently that’s confusing. He quoted me what our insurance was reimbursing us for the carpet we had.
OK… that means we would have a worse carpet installed in our condo. (if you never had to go through this your insurance co. will depreciate the value of your carpet based on age and its condition. Ours had several years of use) Sounds like a good plan, I want crappy carpet in my condo!
They try to remedy the situation by showing us some carpet in the price range we were looking for per sq. foot. The carpet was really low quality and ugly! I don’t understand how this carpet you’re showing me can be the same price as the stores I looked at for the same price?
2.) OK, I don’t want you to do carpet, but I need you to do everything else. A little tile, a little dry wall, bathroom floor replacement, put everything back in the toilet, a little painting, etc.
Oh, so we’re now going to charge you a minimum for doing the bathroom floor since you’re not doing carpet. That’ll increase your previous quote for that by 50%. Plus, I’m going to mysteriously charge you another 50% more for the dry wall. All of which adds up to several hundred dollars. BTW, they did not mention the magic dry wall increase in my revised quote. I think they thought I wouldn’t notice.
When I questioned him on the quote, they said they’d get back to me with a revised quote. 1 ½ weeks and 3 to 4 phone calls later I somehow magically do not have a quote.
Stay away from these guys. Very unprofessional and they try to rip you off. Wasted 3 weeks trying to work through the quote with them, and now have to start my contractor search back over.

I highly recommend Crase. We had our kitchen flood due to bad advice from a plumber, thankfully insurance ended up covering this. Our floors had to be removed, and several of our cabinets. Crase was contracted by our insurance to do the work, and I frankly could not be happier. Steve was our main contact, with Alan handling the main work, both were exceptionally professional, and very nice to deal with. The company they recommended for the counters did a fantastic job, and everything was as prompt as we would let them be.

I used Crase construction because of a recommendation from my insurance company. I felt rushed during the entire project, it took longer than expected and small details were overlooked such as installing bathroom hardware. For several thousands of dollars, i shouldn’t have had to install towl bars, mirrors and paper holders myself.
The quality of the work was good, but overpriced. A contractor working on the house next to mine said there was no way a bathroom remodel should cost as much as I paid. I feel i was overcharged due to the fact that the insurance company was paying for part of the project. The estimate was no where close to what the final cost was.
I would never use or recommend this company again in the future.

I work for a Property Management company and we had a fire in one of our units. The insurance company recommended Jon R. Crase Construction. We have been SO impressed with their level of service, their speed of response, and the finished product.
They sent the BEST project manager I could have asked for (Ryan Jurian) and he walked us through EVERY step of the process, from the first day with the boarding of windows, the permits, the Haz mat disposal (sheetrock) and the testing for contamination, the complete demolition, and finally the rebuilding and finishing of the unit.
The finished product was BETTER than before the fire and our experience was EXCELLENT from START to FINISH.
Ryan communicated throughout the process. We always knew what was happening and where things stood. They gave us the opportunity to select products, so that the paint color, the carpet color, counter tops, cabinets – all details were OUR choice.
They worked closely with the insurance company to insure that all work was covered and approved.
A fire is NEVER a good event, but Crase took a VERY bad event and brought out the BEST result we could have asked for.

We could not be more pleased with the work done in our kitchen by Crase Construction. Our insurance company sent them to us when our kitchen flooded and needed to be redone. To be honest, we were nervous about not knowing them– but we were delightfully surprised from the beginning.
Right away we were impressed by their professionalism and knowledge. Everyone we met associated with the company was kind and helpful. I felt like we were listened to (which is not something I can say for many companies) and respected. With some of the other companies that had been sent to us for this kitchen disaster (restoration, etc) we never heard a word from them– but that was not the case with Crase. We always knew what was going on and when because they were great about communicating with us. A BIG plus in my book. Our project manager, John, was superb. He had some excellent suggestions that use our kitchen space more efficiently. Also– the project was finished a bit early, what a nice surprise!
The kitchen turned out wonderfully– everyone who visits can’t believe how nice it is. Not only is it gorgeous, but it’s functional and high quality.
If we ever need anything else done, we will be sure to give this company a call. I highly recommend them.

We had a fire at the multi-​housing complex I manage and have been very happy and more than pleased with the workmanship and accessibility of the project supervior, Ryan Jurian.

We were referred to these guys through our insurance company. After a recent unattended death with a family member the whole bathroom needed to be remodeled. Since the house was vacant they took their sweet ass time (4 months) for a tiny bathroom.
$ 15,000 later we got the cheapest linoleum, a cheap new vanity, marble shower with glass doors AND the best part was they reinstalled the crusty, moldy toilet our uncle died on with dried maggots still intact and told us that it’s porcelain and we can clean it ourselves. We requested a new toilet and they told us that would cost an extra $ 100.
Also this price did not include new fixtures i.e. towel bars new medicine cabinets, toilet paper holder. We were told we had to pick out those items and that’s why they didn’t put them in.
We feel they took advantage of us because our insurance was paying for some of it. We also got a second opinion and were told we were overcharged for the lowest quality work and materials. We recently redid the other bathroom (NOT through Crase) for $ 3,000 using high quality materials like tile and granite.
Beware of this place. Be scared. Be warned!

I just want to say that Jon Crase Construction is the Best! I had work done at my house in 2007 the Project Mgr William was Fabulous! It was good quality work, polite & friendly staff, and just the amount of days they said it would be-​it was, that made me happy.
So again, now in 2010, I have work at my home and I wouldn’t select anyone else, but for Crase. Rene is Great!

These guys are great — well organized, very professional and easy to do business with. We have just had our bathrooms remodeled and the Crase team have done a fabulous job. The whole team was friendly and helpful, and their attention to detail was meticulous and their work reviewed every step of the way — there was no «can this be re-​done?» conversations. Our project manager kept us informed of progress, and when to expect things to happen — which made the whole process easier.
The best part was that every day they tidied up, swept the areas where they worked, and didn’t leave stuff lying around.
I believe we got very good value for the quality of work from the Crase team. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again if we ever need remodeling or construction work done.
