We serve all makes and models; we are very computer savvy and love diagnostic work. From oil changes to engine overhauls we can do everything.

If you have a Hot Rod or a project that needs fabrication work, I can help you with that! I would like to be the «old neighborhood garage» where you can trust the person you take your car to and get treated with respect and honesty. Parking is easy just drive into the shop and we will greet you with a smile… We are on the corner of Blossom Hill & University Ave next to Preferred Image body shop.

History

Established in 2009.

As a long time Dealership Master Technician I decided to go racing on the NHRA tour for over 10 years and work on the Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars… After meeting my wife (Gerilyn) and getting married in 2005 we started a family and decided that we needed to open up our own business so that I could be at home in California and be close to my family. It had always been my dream to open up a family business.

After some research, I found that after a lot of local dealerships had closed down. People didn’t have a lot of options for auto repair in the area. My wife and I thought there was a need for offering dealership quality work and service at an affordable price with an honest, clean and friendly shop… And therefore Big Ed’s Automotive was born.

Over 10 years experience as a NHRA Top Fuel mechanic (worked with Dean Skuza, Cruz Pedregon, Ron Capps, Doug Herbert and Antron Brown)

Married to Gerilyn (Steiner) Serauskis and have a beautiful 3 year old daughter.

Ed is great! I’ve had previous bad experiences with auto shops and dealerships, so dealing with Ed was a refreshing change! My check engine light was on and I was in need of a smog, I took my car in, Ed got it diagnosed and gave me the full rundown. There were 2 codes but he explained that repairing one thing may clear both so let’s try that first, 50⁄50 chance (this is where most dealerships take you for a ride and tell you you need to replace everything up front!) He did the work, ran the tests and got me back on the road. Unfortunately my luck wasn’t as good as we had both hoped and I need the further repair, he got me back in the next morning pulled the codes and talked to me about what needs to be done. Honest guy, competitive prices, with a personal touch! He even offered me a ride close by to anywhere I needed to go which was a huge help! Parking at his new shop is much easier, since he’s in a lot now, than at his old location in Los Gatos. I will recommend Big Ed to my friends and family with no hesitation, especially to women, who tend to be taken advantage of in the world of auto repair.

Great to read the great reviews, as I can’t really comment on his ability as a mechanic, so I’m glad so many others did.
The reason I give Ed 5 stars is the kind of person he is. I was stranded at a gas station in Campbell, 40 minutes from home. Mainly I had overheated badly, and he was concerned I might have blown a gasket. He helped me even tho it was after work for him, and then referred me to a VW dealer nearby. It was after 5, he was cpncerned whether I would make it. He asked if I had AAA, or needed money to get home. Then he gave me his card and told me to call him if I get stranded. What a great end to a bad day, someone showing human kindness. Thanks Ed! It meant a lot!

I had some car troubleslast week, when I found out Big Ed’s was no longer in Los Gatos… I was fraking out! I didn’t know where to go for repairs. a friend told me Big Ed’s moved to campbell. like a blood hound I tracked Big Bd’s place down. He was able to take my car in that same day. of course it had to be towed in. Big Ed called me that same day, with the answer as to what was wrong with my car. He had to order some parts but he got it done the very next day. Big Ed also found a potential problem that he fixed. now for the next problem… how was I going to get over to his new shop to pick up my car? When you go to Big Eds you get Big Eds service! he dropped off my car to me at work! thats what I call service. I even got a call later that evening to ask how the car was running. I told Big Ed «smooooth»
I stopped by his new place and it is a lot nicer. plenty of room and parking. Thank you Ed for being an honest mechanic.

My husband and I were wary of where to take our truck when the check engine light came on and it was making a funky noise. Based on the stellar reviews we decided to give Big Ed a shot. We were not disappointed!!! Expect honesty, integrity, and fairness when dealing with Big Ed. We have been so used to dealing with dealerships and getting the run around (not to mention being over charged and underwhelmed with service and quality), so I was so delighted that Big Ed not only took care of our truck, but also took care of some basic maintenance on my Audi for WAY less than I was quoted by the dealer.
I’m a happy camper and will definately be back! (Although I hope not too often…) :)

I just had my car serviced at Big Ed’s. He did a great job & a good price. He did some repairs on my 1974 ford truck & did an incredible job. Their are very few great mechanics left out there & Ed is one of them. We need to keep him in business.

I am a customer for life. I brought my car in with air conditioning problems and once again Ed went above and beyond to diagnose the issues and let me know what my options were. I have found a mechanic I trust, and in this day and age that is very rare indeed!

Had a check engine light on and the auto parts store said replace that sensor and it should be fine… well wrong dont go to auto parts store to get your car checked out free is not good… brought it over to Big Eds and he explained the sensor may be bad but its the computer kinda leading you in the direction of the problem well 300.00 dollars well spent fixed my problem as quoted… very honest and trust worthy parking was hard but he has signs that say drive in shop… bringing in the wifes car for an oil change next week!

Ed did an excellent job on my 1995 Ford Explorer. He was able to correctly deduce the car had sat for a year or so by the symptoms with the fuel system. He also showed me where the dealer had ripped me of by neglecting to change the more difficult spark plug. He got it running like a champ.

Great experience at Big Ed’s today. Love the shop’s location, how clean it looked and how easy it was to find. Ed seemed friendly, fair and straight forward. I felt very comfortable leaving my car there.
He squeezed us in this afternoon for a 60,000 mile check up (after we called for an appointment earlier in the day) and we were very happy with the service. (It was important to get our car in before our road trip early next week and since it is a new-​to-​us car, we didn’t have time to schedule and appointment in advance.) Prices are competitive. We will definitely be back!

I drive over 2K miles/​month for my job alone and was concerned about a very odd squeel that presented only in the coldest mornings for only a few minutes under the hood. Midas was confused and recommended a belt (which they admitted looked OK) and $ 950 of other work. That didn’t jive with me, so I contacted a new shop I heard about called Bid Ed’s. Ed the owner himself discussed the realistic possibilities and was willing to diagnose and do the work over a weekend so that I wouldn’t have downtime during the week. He requested my care that Friday night and tested it early Sat. morning when cold to determine it was a power steering pump malfunction. He called me on Saturday morning after he reviewed several service bulletins on my Honda Accord and expressed his recommendations. I was impressed with his thoroughness, so I authorized the work. Needless to say, the diagnosis, repair and re-​unite of my vehicle happend over the weekend and from now on, only Bid Ed will work on my cars. Thanks for be honest and competent!

I typically do my own car work for the small things like oil changes etc. When it comes to anything major though I always take my car to Big Ed’s Auto.
It’s a new shop, very clean and easy to find, but even before the shop I’ve always trusted Ed to do any work on my car that I couldn’t handle on my own. I love that he now has his own shop and is able to offer his amazing services to all. Ed is always friendly does great work and has very competitive pricing.
