Amanda’s Mobile Pet Grooming

In 2009, we adopted two middle-​aged poodle mutts from the HSSV. A lot of times, trying to brush them, and keep mats from forming, was nearly impossible. Wiggly butts, those dogs, when it came to bathing or brushing, or tying to clip their nails. She must have some special gift!
I started using Amanda’s services when our elder dog was still alive, when we got a referral from a client couple my belle-​mère knew. At that point, one drove to her place and dropped off your pet (s) for grooming, and came back when your pet (s) were ready.
So, last year when she had to move out of the place she was in, and had to raise her rates in order to afford a mobile pet van, I assured her we’d still be with her. The places we’d previously used were about the same cost, only we liked her better, and we were really happy for consistency.
Upon learning she was seldom at home long enough to cook real meals, we usually tip her in cash and food – produce, prepared, whatever (we have the feed-​them genes in this family).
I’ve read the negative reviews, and found them completely unlike my experience with Amanda. We’ve asked her to shave them close, due to mats, or hot weather. She’s never been rude, abrupt, or anything negative: we love her, and the dogs always seemed happier after a grooming. I notice the reviews here are at opposite ends of reaction… like some things in life, you either love it or hate it. I’m on the higher end, as most of these reviews are.
I don’t have a problem with texts when I know someone may be too busy with their hands, or just not up to talking on phones. I know a phone-​phobic, and I once took a job where I was asked if I would answer phones. I thought that was odd, but the last hire would not answer phone calls.
This time, old & cranky Cody had enough mats that he almost needed to be skinned, and his nails were way too long, because money was tight, after Yule, when we last tried to make an appointment. and she was away until February… when money was short and I was sick all month long and half of March.
However, noticing my pattern of waiting too long to schedule grooming for our little guy, I made my next appointment at the time of payment.

Amanda is just fabulous! I’ve never used a service such as hers before, but I can’t imagine anyone being better than her. She is professional, precise and very good at what she does.
I appreciated that she was on time, did what she said she’d do and didn’t waste a minute of her or my time. My lil guy looks impeccable, as well!

Amanda is simply the best. My dog is at ease with her and she grooms my lil guy with absolute care. I also love that her mobile van is pristine! And of course the convenience is the real icing.

I was home when Amanda came to groom my daughter’s portie. She showed up on time, her van was clean, and did a fantastic job. Boba looks super and was very happy. Thank you Amanda! Great job!

I see several other one star reviews for this groomer and I have to bring up what seems to be a lack of common sense, business acumen and general politeness.
If I am a returning, long time client then conducting business over text is perfectly reasonable. But if I am a new client and I have phoned you and asked to speak with you rather than relying heavily on text and then you harass me on Christmas Eve and are very rude then you have lost my business.
I think it is unreasonable to demand a text answer on Christmas Eve.
I think it is unreasonable to threaten to cancel an appointment that we worked for over a week (on text message) to set up.
We have four dogs in Los Gatos. We offered to pay 20% above her asking price because we know we have big dogs and we were asking for grooming appointments every two and four weeks.
Considering our willingness to tip this means about $ 600 a month. Multiplied by 12 months and you arrive at roughly $ 7200 a year.
So a simple phone call and conducting yourself in a polite businesslike manner would have earned you $ 7200 this year. Perhaps you’re so busy you don’t need our money. If that’s the case then it’s a good thing that we are taking our business over to one of your rivals who are perfectly happy to speak with us on the phone, treat with kindness and respond patiently using a variety of communication tools.
Addendum: Yes, I did call you. Twice. I texted you a screenshot of my calls to you. And I texted you that I wanted to talk to you.
Confirming an appointment is one thing.
Demanding an answer via 4 increasingly angry text messages on Christmas Eve is an entirely different can of worms.
Our money and word of mouth are happily directed to a more worthy business.

Having 3 dogs and having had a wonderful groomer that unfortunately moved away, Amanda’s Mobile Pet Grooming was recommended. I found her to be extremely rude, conducted her business over text only, never actually returning a voice mail.
When she arrived, we could certainly tell she would rather be anywhere else than where she was.
The worst of all of it, I asked for my dogs to be trimmed short, they came back in so short that you could see their skin. Their skin was so irritated that I had to take them to the vet for razor burn and they were put on antibiotics. When I called Amanda to complain she was far more rude than before. I asked her to pay for the vet bill (which did not exceed $ 150 for 3 dogs) and she refused. I didn’t even ask to be reimbursed for the baths, only the vet bill and Rx that they prescribed.
I would never recommend her to anyone nor will I ever allow her near my pets again.
I only give her 1 star, just for showing up.

I never write reviews but sometimes you just have to. Our dog Max loves her and we could not be happier with the results. We will use her as long as she is in business and we hope it is for a very long time.

Firstly, let’s say that this business owner initially lied and stated that I was not home when she showed up. After I informed her that I am on doctor’s orders to stay home all day, she changed her story and said that she got the address incorrect and inverted the numbers and was woefully going up and down my street knocking on doors (Yah right. If so, the only door you didn’t knock on was mine). Ok, a human mistake that is understandable. When I followed up and asked why she did not call me, she then admitted that she did not write down the correct phone number. Being the kind, considerate human being that I am, and given that I am at home recovering from surgery, I was still willing to work with her and kindly asked what her resolution was for what was obviously her error. Since this was a text conversation, I am writing her response verbatim, «I don’t feel it is completely my error. I don’t set up appointments for Wednesdays (meaning that she isn’t willing to sacrifice her day off to compensate for her error) and I don’t have anymore openings until January». Not completely your error? If not, then whose error is it? Did I incorrectly write down my own address AND home phone number? Talk about lack of accountability. Then when I called her on her lack of customer service and willing to make up for her error, she threatened me and called me a bully which I have written documentation of.
When I informed her I was going to write my opinion on Unilocal,Amanda stated, «I’ll just write back that I am human and tried my best». I have compassion for people with learning and reading disorders but when you don’t even go out of your way to demonstrate remorse for what was FULLY your error, then there is an issue with your integrity and accountability.
Honey, if your best is that you are not even organized enough to correctly write down an ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER, then proceed to not take accountability for your error, and lastly insult potential customers by calling them names, then my pup and I are both glad that you are as incompetent as you are.
Follow up: Now she is soliciting her clients to write and bully me. See message from Margie D. sent to me shortly after my post:
Margie D.: You sure complain a lot! Check out all your ratings on your past posts. Shame on you. Get a life or go to therapy. Such a whiner. How old are you? 4? Sounds like you are a very sad and lonely human being.

After having Amanda clip my cats claws a few times, I recently had her groom my long-​haired cat. I couldn’t stay for the grooming and just left her with vague instructions to give my cat a trim and send me pictures. She did a wonderful job. The hair may have been slightly shorter than I’d have preferred, but I chalked that up to vague instructions and she grew fur out quickly anyway. I was also sent before and after pictures for the process including a rather amusing picture of my wet, un-​amused cat. Amanda is very good communicating her appointments so I don’t forget them. All in all, a very good job, and I will be going to her again soon!

Amanda is awesome! She groomed two of my cats and they were so gorgeous and fluffy afterward. She also does great kitty pedicures that are much more long lasting than my attempts at keeping their claws in good order. Not only is she great with cats, she’s always prompt, communicative, friendly and professional. She has more than earned every 5-​star review here.

We’ve only used you once, but I must say you did a fantastic job. The simple fact that you drive to people’s home and give a grooming like I have never seen before is enough for me to give you an A FOR AWESOME!

Our puppies always look great after seeing Amanda! They have been seeing her for a couple of years now.

We have a super fluffy Corgi puppy who is a challenge and Amanda did an excellent job, especially with his nails. We found her to be helpful, fairly priced and efficient. But the best recommendation is when your dog is excited to see the groomer at the door!

At first I wasn’t so sure. But Wendel next door said she was great. (He sure does look handsome when I see him on walks.) So when Mama handed me over to Amanda, I decided to let my inner dog diva come out. (That’s a stretch, actually. I prefer sunbathing in the dirt and eating sticks and rocks. Literally. I was in the hospital because I ate rocks. But that’s for another Unilocal review.)
Amanda is very gentle and treats me with lots of respect. She washed and dried me, trimmed my nails and fluffed my fur fabulously. Now I smell like roses and peaches and all things yummy. Mama still calls me a mutt, but I know she thinks I belong on the cover of Dog Fancy because she sent my picture to all my family members.
The cats, on the other paw, have a slightly skewed version.
«She came. We looked her straight in the eye like Hell hath no fury. She took control of the situation… and lopped off our beautiful nails. The ones we were growing out to beautify Papa’s leather couch. But, we suppose, in the end… it wasn’t so bad compared to Mama-​scissor-​hands.»

A week after Amanda came, we are still super satisfied with our experience with her, and of course with the work she did on our dogs.
We had a bad experience at a local chain pet store recently, and after a few discussions with friends, I decided to try a mobile groomer. Rather than waiting in a long line and having to deal with whoever is working that day (and whatever baggage they happen to be carrying mentally!) and having to deal with drop off and pick up windows and a poor scheduling system (call and wait on hold), I decided that the perks of having someone come to me and focus solely on my pets would be worth the added cost. It definitely was.
Amanda was quick to work with my schedule and got me in within a few days of contacting her. I could text her to schedule, and she texted back. Win.
She was on time and very friendly to my dogs. Win.
Her appearance, demeanor, and truck were all clean, professional and organized. Win.
I was able to mow the lawn and clean up and make lunch while she worked on my dogs. Win!
So if you are thinking about finally taking the hassle out of getting your dogs groomed, give Amanda a call. Her work is great, she is very nice and accommodating, and in the end both you and your animals win out big time.

FANTASTIC! I couldn’t be happier with the job that Amanda did!
My cat is a little bit older and generally afraid of water and going to the vet, but Amanda worked her magic and cleaned up my kitty with zero problems. Afterwards, my cat looked beautiful and happily went right to eating and sleeping, with NO signs of distress.
I would highly recommend Amanda and plan to use her again in the future!

If you’re looking for a groomer, look no more. Amanda has groomed my dogs for years and my two dogs (and the two before that) get many compliments. One of the best is from my Vet who asked me to tell my groomer that my cocker spaniel has one of the best cuts he’s ever seen — that my groomer really knows what she’s doing.
She has also watched Lucy and Bailey when we were away for a weekend. She is extremely caring and passionate about what she does. One of my dogs is verse gregarious and the other is extremely shy. She works beautifully with both of them.

I called for an estimate on my siberian husky and she told me she doesn’t work on that breed o_​O
What kind of groomer only works on a selected type of breed? Maybe groomers are specialized in certain breeds lol. Its like going to a salon and being told, sorry I don’t cut hispanic hair lol, for example.
