This is lovely place to bring kids. It’s fun to feed the fish and learn about their life cycles and the importance of sustainable fishing practices.

This is a great spot to take a kid or to be a kid yourself. The place was built back during the depression and has a historic feel. You can buy fish food for 25 cents and it is a lot of fun to feed the growing fish. If you want to see something interesting while in the Sisters/Camp Sherman area, this is a good spot.

Wizard Falls is enchanting. A perfect place for Harry Potter and Gandalf to kick back, feed the rainbow trout(maybe catch some), and gaze upon the beauty of the Cascades. While the hatchery is unprepossessing– parts of it are under repair– the view of the mountains is spectacular. Sometimes, a bald eagle will fly by. There is a wonderful view of the Metolius River. The mountain air is clean, one is deep within the pines, the Douglas firs. Great place to feed the fish, see the sturgeon&rainbow trout… and relax.

If you can get your kids away from their PSP for just a moment, take them here. One quarter’s worth of fish food per kid. Take them to the pond and show them how to toss one pellet into the pond and watch dozens of big trout fight to snatch it. It should keep ‘em busy for a little while. The Metolius River is one of the most beautiful places in the Oregon. The Wizard Falls Trout Hatchery is the entry into it for most families. Don’t miss it and do take the kids.
