I have been here many times with great results (and have been getting threading in Cambridge and in DC for 5+ years), but today the woman at the 5 PM shift DESTROYED my eyebrows. They look worse than when I used to attempt to pluck them myself in high school. They are way too thin, too short, and the arch is in the wrong place. Luckily I finally spoke up and looked in the mirror before she completely removed my entire eyebrow, which is where she was headed. Now the entire area around both eyes is so red and swollen it is lucky I do not have plans to go out this evening. I will not be returning here because there is not quality control or consistency between the workers.

She does a really great job. I’ve had a really high arch for awhile and i told her I wanted a more balanced brow and she did exactly what I wanted. She’s fast, efficient, and clearly knows what she’s doing.
The price is average for the area.

Job well done! The entrance for the threading place is through a tobacco shop. I happened to be in Harvard square and wanted to get my eyebrows done… Unilocaled for a place and I found this one. The lady was quick, and do not hurt me much given the fact that I had over grown my eyebrows. This was my first visit to this place and I am glad that my eyebrows were not screwed up. Would recommend this place at least the lady who did my eyebrows (not sure what her name was).

I had my eyebrows done here and it was so painful (and I’ve had my eyebrows threaded multiple times!). The lady I had (probably in the 40s or 50s) did not seem to have a lot of experience and was literally plucking off my hairs one by one. It was so painful, and in the end she was kind of rude too. I just wanted to be done and left unhappy with the end product.

I’d give a 0 if I could select no star. And this is particularly for the lady that works here on Mondays (approx. in her 50s or late 40s) otherwise it’s one of my favorite places for my eyebrows. I came here on Monday and there was this lady who I’ve never seen before (I’ve never been here on a Monday). She started off with my forehead and just as she began, it hurt so bad. For people who are regular with eyebrow threading may be aware that forehead is the part that hurts the least usually. I have three cuts on my forehead. She then started to pull ONE HAIR AT A TIME from my eyebrow (not exaggerating). I almost screamed many times and told her to stop.
She literally pulled one hair at a time of my eyebrows and her hands were shaky like she wasn’t comfortable. I told her I’m getting eyebrows threaded for more than 10 years now and it has never hurt me this much and she said I just have sensitive skin (BS). It hurt so much when she started pulling the hair from underneath the eyebrow that I wanted to leave.
Please do not go to this place on Monday unless you’re a sadist and love to hurt yourself. the owner of this threading place should definitely rethink about keeping this lady there. It is going to ruin the great reviews this place has been getting so far.
I’m never going there on a Monday again and I’ll run if I see this lady on another day.

Please save your eyebrows. Don’t go here. I had full healthy eyebrows before coming here. She rushed through the threading. Took off more than half my eyebrows. I left the place with uneven thin eyebrows. Srija at J’s spa in Somerville does a better job.

I had my brows threaded here last weekend.
Ratshi did an amazing job due to the fact that I have a soothing habit of over plucking them and they take a while to grow back.
Yea, I know.
I was in and out in less than 10 minutes tops.
I think $ 12 is kinda steep but you are in Harvard Square so you pay a little more and they do a great job so it’s worth the price.

Not definitely a bad choice but I liked the Boston Threading way more than this place. She was really quick no doubt but i liked the thick end in the eye brow shape. Inspite of telling her, It got thinner.

It’s sounds like it’d be weird/​hard to find this place being that it’s at the back of a smoke shop, but it’s actually a pretty easy set up.
The actual threading space is small so I wouldn’t come if you’re with a large group. I went during the late afternoon on a Thursday so that’s probably why there wasn’t a line.
The woman who did my eyebrows did a good job: quick and as painless as possible, good shape, and took the time to clear the hair away from my face and put aloe vera on my brows. $ 12 and there was no pressure to tip which is good when you’re on a student budget. Definitely coming back!

Eyebrows are cheap, really quick, and well-​done.
If you’re really particular, there’s a huge infographic of different brow shapes on the wall.
The employee was really nice, and there was no wait to start.

Coming from NYC, I’m always so disappointed when I have to get my eyebrows threaded in Boston. I really don’t care about how a place looks, as long as it’s effective. Sadly, that isn’t the case… People here charge way too much ($ 7 in manhattan, $ 2 in queens… v. a minimum of $ 12 here :() and are generally awful at threading!
This Thread & Shape (the one in the tobacco shop) is tolerable. $ 12, never a wait because it’s in the middle of a tobacco shop. Hit or miss — by which I mean hit: my eyebrows are tolerably normal; miss: I have cuts all over my eyebrows and my skin is red and swollen. I would say it’s been 60% hit and 40% miss.
In their defense, (apparently) I have sensitive skin. But I’ve had my eyebrows threaded since I was 11 years old and never got cut when getting my eyebrows threaded until I moved up to Boston. Maybe eventually I’ll be so sick of terrible service that I’ll learn how to do it myself…
EDIT: I prefer the one in Central square (on Prospect street, in a little salon next to dangerawesome) or the one in the Cambridgeside Galleria.

$ 12. They make your eyebrows look fancy. It’s in the back of a smoke shop. It’s $ 12. Zero complaints.

I have been to probably 4 or 5 different threading places by now, and this is by far the best one. As noted in the other reviews, it is in the back of a smoke shop — I found walking through there fine (especially because there is a giant «Thread & Shape» sign in the back where the threading shop is.
I went around 11:15 on a Wednesday and was the only customer at that time, so no waiting and the attendant was very quick to jump up and welcome me to the shop.
It did not take long, but I was not rushed. A lot of care was taken to ensure the shape matched and no hairs were out of place. This is definitely my new place.

Best threading place in Boston.
Quality is amazing — I’ve never had better eyebrows.
No awkward questions, no chatty technicians, everyone is very professional.
They are INSIDE of a tobacco store, which I find hilarious, but the place itself is small and neat. Sometimes there are lines, but I never had to wait more than 15 minutes.
Definitely give it a try.

Absolutely the best threading place in Harvard Square. I frequently get my eyebrows threaded and I’ve been to many different places, but this is by far the best threading place I’ve been to.
Pros:
— Very clean
— Fast but effective service
— Gentle on the skin
— Reasonably priced ($ 12 for eyebrows)
— Usually no more than a five minute wait

I couldn’t be more upset with my experience today.
I’ve been threading for years and never have I been cut and raw afterwards until today! Not only am I still red and sensitive, but half my brows are gone! I take pride in my long, full and well shaped eyebrows (moved here from NY a few months ago and have been searching for a nice replacement) request a «clean up» and to «make sure they weren’t thin» and I am left with high, skinny, arched brows.
The women in front of me had came out with nice, thick shapes. Have no idea how I got so unlucky. Was so disgusted I didn’t even remind the woman that I had wanted my lip done as well.
Still hunting for the right threader in MA. Sigh.

I felt weird the first time I walked into Leavitt and Peirce to get my eyebrows done. It’s a smoke/​gift shop. That’s kind of weird, right?
But it’s only 12 dollars, and they consistently do a great job. I don’t even feel awkward walking through the store any more.

Note: There are two locations in Harvard Square. One on Mass Ave (the one in the tobacco shop) and one about a block away on Bow St. This review is for the latter of the two.
This was my first experience with threading. There were no other customers when I arrived, so no wait. The place is very clean and well lit, and the chair comfy. The threader also put a mask on, which was a nice, sanitary touch. The processes was less comfortable than waxing, but also did not require any follow-​up tweezing, and was much faster, so the pain level is probably a wash. And of course no wax means no clogged pores/​follicles afterwards! She offered some soothing aloe, and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. And the price can’t be beat! I’m now a dedicated threader, and since this place is around the corner from my hair salon, I’ll be back!

The weirdest place ever for a threading salon… it’s in the back of a tobacco/​cigar/​pipe (OK, I really don’t know what they sell) shop, but the tiny corridor it inhabits is clean and well-​lit. This place is right in the heart of Harvard Square, so I can easily go here for a quick touch up during lunch, which is great! I’ve gone here around 1pm and after work at 5pm and have never had to wait.
$ 12 is reasonable for threading in Boston. It’ll get you a relatively painless threading experience (seriously, it takes skill! If your threading hurts when you get it, try another person), a trim of your actual brows, and a nice eyebrow/​forehead rub. All within a couple of minutes. The ladies ask you what you want (actual shaping vs touch up) and actually listen. Also they don’t yell at me for tweezing in between threadings, heh.

Just came back from my first visit to Thread & Shape on a Wednesday afternoon, but also my first experience with threading in general. I feel like were I to try a few different places I could potentially give this place 5 stars, but since I don’t have anything to compare it to I don’t think that would be fair.
BUT — there’s nothing wrong with this place. It is in kind of a strange spot with pretty much no privacy (there was a girl waiting to go next sitting right behind me the whole time), but it also means that if you have to wait you have an AWESOME store to shop in (especially if you have a boyfriend/​husband/​brother/​father you need to buy for).
I got seated as the person who was in the chair when I arrived was putting on her jacket — not even gone yet! Talk about speedy. She confirmed I mostly wanted them cleaned up (eyebrows) rather than totally reshaped, and she went to it.
For those who haven’t experienced threading before, know this — it’s not painless. I wouldn’t say it’s more painful than waxing, or plucking your own, it’s just different. With waxing, it’s one or two pulls on the sensitive area below the brow and you’re done, so it’s quick and limited. When you’re plucking your own, there’s something about you being in control and going at your own pace that lessens the pain. Well, threading is neither one and done, nor are you in control. I wouldn’t call it painful, per se, just… not pleasant. And it lasts a while.
BUT! She did a great job, and I was out of there 5 minutes after I sat down. For $ 12 plus tip I’ll probably be returning here when I get lazy with my own tweezer upkeep.
