I went to this Cambridge Location recently. It was my 3^rd time in this location (big mistake) this year. The two women working there were incredibly rude, inpatient with customer questions and highly confrontational. When i say rude I mean rude –like famous rude. They think it’s funny. The manager didn’t bat an eye, drumming on the counter to some music. The staff eye rolled, made jokes to one another and acted like customers were dumb for asking questions.
My goals – were very easy–
+++++buy a phone –already priced online.
++++++Port a number – standard thing we do for over a decade.
++++ Use a nationwide rate and plan – in this case using a NATIONWIDE promotion price. (50 unlimited everything)
I came with all my information on paper.
Trust me – rude – these staff were rude. They are not employable elsewhere.
After taking my number and beginning port I’m stuck there. stuck stuck.
Don’t go there… this location is Horrid with respect to
the staff. Corporate Metro PCS will be notified.
Send in some random mystery shoppers (4 or 5 across a 7 day stretch). I bet my teeth it will be bad.
A gentleman in the store commented while I was there that the were rude to him but he was at their mercy. Another man turned and walked out after one of the women spoke in Spanish to him but he was Russian – they based this on his «look» that he was Spanish.
GO to another location.

IF you buy a GSM phone, know MPCS sim locks the phone and card so you can swap phones. they want 15 $ every time you change phones. also, the basic rate does not include call forwarding. this is an extra 5 $ month. this company is a big rip off. there is no need to lock sim cards to phones except if you want to rip people off. same thing with charging for call forwarding. i will be change to consumer cellullar with AARP and get a plan for 15 $ month without these rip offs…

Waiting here was like being at the RMV, and the customer service was piss poor. One person working here was just blatantly rude to a customer. I won’t ever go to this location again.

I have had Metro for about 3 years now, after kicking ripoff Verizon to the curb. My phone service has never been a problem w/​the exception of my 2 vacation weeks. Big deal– I am saving over 50.00 a month with this service. I have had one software problem and soon found out that customer service on the phone is close to impossible, but the in house customer service has been great. Verizon is EQUALLY bad when it comes to on the phone customer service.
Yuri is very helpful-​he remembered me even though I haven’t been in the store for months! Maybe I have been just lucky, but my Motorola phone has been dropped numerous times, twice on a hot grille, and it keeps on ticking.
As far as I’m concerned, this is a no-​brainer. No hidden charges-​everything included.

I am addressing this to Cambridge as that’s where I bought into METROPCS and their deceptive practices. I have a contract for UNLIMITED NATIONWIDE LONG DISTANCE CALLING and yet I can’t call San Diego, CA! Apparently there is something in the fine print which says that there are, indeed, places in the contiguous United States where I can’t call. The snippy Customer Service person said «I would advise you to read your contract:» You can bet I’ll be signing on with someone else TOMORROW.
BUYERS BEWARE METROPCS
Oh. If you phone Customer Service, when you get the voice asking questions, just keep shouting «CUSTOMER SERVICE» and you will eventually connect to them. Just don’t expect too much.
You can pay by credit card, but they charge you an extra $ 3-​$ 4!!!

The phone service is ok but the customer service sucks!
I signed up for a plan that provides unlimited global and domestic text messages. The truth is, I wasn’t able to send global texts at all! went to the store a few times and the manager said they’d open a ticket for this issue, but I had never heard back from them again. Also, unlimited domestic texts is also fake, many numbers are blocked so I was not able to send or recieve. It’s annoying. The signal reception is not good and drop calls happen often
I finally switched company and cancelled my metro pcs account 3 days before the next billing cycle began. My billing cycle begins on the 9^th of each month, and my account detail indicates that my automatic payment will accure on the 7^th. I cancelled my service on the 6^th and before cancelliing I called customer service 3 times to make sure I wouldn’t be billed if I cancel before the 7^th. But surprised! When I got my credit card bill I saw that they already charged me on the 5^th! I called customer service again and after playing with their vague and tricky automatic service system, I finally got some guy in India to answer my call. He refused to refund the money to me, and then he just kept silent and didn’t say a word. He did that silent treatment repeatedly and I finally got so frustrated and asked to speak with a supervisor. He put me on hold for 15 minutes, and then told me the supervisor was not available. He still insisted that he «couldn’t refund my money because the charge has accured». What kind of stupid reason was that? They took advantage of the fact that I had recurring automatic payment and charge me a few days ahead of my billing cycle begins, althought I’ve cancelled my account. This is like stealing money from me. Since this Indian guy did not want to refund my money, so I am going to call my credit card company to dispute the charge. I will NOT go back to metro pcs. They are dishonest and have bad service, besides their monthly fee is becoming more expensive so it’s not worth it.

This isn’t about the store but about the company in general. It sucks! As soon as I can I’m dumping MetroPCS because of ONE thing.
They have no real customer service *via the phone*. The people in the store front here are phenomenal and were extremely helpful. But if you need to call customer service and want to speak to an agent, because their menu is so vague and has nothing to do with your problem, this is the message you get over and over and over and over when you try to reach an agent.
«I understand you would like to speak to an agent, let me see if I can help you…» repeats menu options.
If anyone knows how to get through to an agent please let me know! But as soon as possible — MetroPCS will be a thing of the past for me. I rather pay more money per month and actually get the help I need.

I’ll start with the only big downsides, cuz they’re important, but the upsides are so substantial that this was not enough to even warrant losing one star!
Parking is hard. It’s Central Square Cambridge. Take the T. Many buses stop in front of the store, and the red line is down the block. Easy, huh? The other is that calling the store is highly frustrating since you go through a 1 – 800 thing like other big companies and never really reach a person.
Just go to the store. It’s open and friendly, not crammed or understaffed. They have security guards. I’ve met both, they’re nice. You’ll feel safe. They are anticipating being as busy as they are in TX or FL, so you take a number (!) and wait a few minutes for a person. You are greeted VERY warmly by all… almost like being in an olde-​tyme diner! Folks are friendly and interested.
I bought a phone (Samsung Messager) the second day they opened, their top of the line. It’s great, the service is good and the price can NOT be beat for service. A couple months in, a couple weeks ago, the new Samsung Finesse, their iPhone killer, was released. I got it immediately. It’s just fabulous, and I know hi end phones since they came out!
Anyway, the Finesse sounds awesome, the Metro PCS SmartPhone plan is a crazy good deal and it is a pleasure to use… but, long story short, I lost it in two weeks. Guess i wasn’t the only one to like it.
Beware, the worthwhile $ 4/​mo Insurance does not kick in for the first month, and accidentally, I was not told this. I felt totally shitouttaluck, and was basically headed back after being dismissed by the insurance company to beg for a deal. The day before, a very nice girl had moved my number back into my old phone so I was not incommunicado. She heard the whole story then. When I came back in, she thought I had a new insurance replacement, but no. I told her what happened, and she went to bat for me…
She disappeared into the office. She came out ten minutes later, then the manager and the comanager. I was just hoping to trade my Messager toward a good break on the Finesse.
No. They admitted they forgot to fully inform me of the terms of insurance and GAVE me a brand new chassis and battery, not a refurb, but BRAND NEW. I asked how much I had to pay, and the manager was very pleasant and just said «We messed up, and we’re sorry, so nothing. Don’t worry about it.»
Wow! I was floored! At that point, I was trying to find things to buy out of guilt for such exceptional service! I did find some accessories I had passed up on, and even with replacing the lost memory card, i still spent less and got more goodies, than the insurance deductible would have been!
I was NEVER made to feel guilty, accused of anything or ashamed. I was treated with respect and great kindness, and intelligent flexibility, something lacking in most retail settings.
I should hasten to add that there is a Metro PCS location a 10 minute walk from my home, but I came back here.
Even if it’s a hassle to get to the Central Square location, GO! The phones are great, the service is priced fabulously and works, and the people there are just beyond the pale… absolutely top notch in every way.
Sometimes, when you have things going well, it’s not that remarkable to seem nice. But when things go wrong, you see who steps up to the plate. These people at Metro PCS of Central Square, Cambridge did so as individuals and as a team, so my biggest ShoutOut for a Great Job goes to them!!!
I’ll be sending them LOTS of business… I know people. :P
