Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina

Why is it that this place only hires people within there personal family. I have put in application for all position at this place and withiin 3 mins. I get a email stating that they are not hiring. But a relative of someone working there is hire for the so called nonexistent position. Wow.

Absolutely amazing experience! Excellent customer service. Friendly staff! I did not want to leave!!!

(11÷23÷15) I was so looking forward to my Eastern Shore trip and had high expectations thanks to church/​community orgs ranting and raving about this resort over the years. We were pleasantly greeted by several staff members and check-​in was a breeze. I loved the open design, high windows yielding natural lighting, beautiful views of the Choptank River & Chesapeake Bay, and numerous fire places. If you’re an avid golfer, you will be in love. Even if you’re not, there are so many activities and ways to relax when it’s cold outside.
We were there during the 5^th annual Oyster week festivities. There were demos and they were serving fresh shucked, steamed, and Bloody Mary Oyster Shooters while discussing wine pairings down in the library lounge (Michener’s Library). This became my favorite spot to hang out, get drinks and watch football. The fitness center was clean, had modern equipment and positioned so you can enjoy the views of the water while working out. The inside pool & Jacuzzi were nice as well and recreation room had all the staples (air hockey, ping pong, foosball, etc.). Did I mention I am an air hockey champion???
It was too cold to luxuriate poolside but I will definitely be there on my next visit. The high winds and high choppy water prevented us from venturing out to the Breakwater Pavilion. Most days, we were greeted with hot chocolate and warm apple cider when we returned to the hotel but no complimentary coffee. Due to the Starbucks in the Bay Country Market which offered interesting items which went far beyond the typical tourists items. I could go on and on about this being a beautiful place for an outside wedding, how romantic this resort can be, and the fun life-​sized chessboard, but I encourage you to visit.
–Deducted .5 for the inconvenience of overnight maintenance which prevented me from taking a warm shower until 8am on Monday. Suggest ending maintenance a little earlier to minimize impact on your guests.
–Suggest adding more adult only time for access to the inside pool & Jacuzzi. Kids dominated during my visit. I think the scheduled adult swim started at 7am…

If you live in the DC Metro area… this is so worth the trip and expense.
Two pools, monitored kids activities, good restaurants and the SPA IS AMAZING!
The spa is completely on a different floor form the rest of the resort so it’s quite and uninterrupted. The Steam room has nooks for privacy and the looker room showers have large stalls with a bench and towel hooks. It really provides tons of privacy! I loved it. It’s the perfect quick get away.

I was right to be nervous. This place has been horrific. We are here celebrating our first anniversary and the staff could not have gone out of their way to make it less special. We ordered a bottle of champagne to begin our weekend, on day two and it still has not arrived. Weve spoken to the front desk who were so sorry, not sorry enough to get it to the room. We asked for a cab and were given a phone number and a good luck. The room was fine, nothing special, but they did get us the king bed we reserved. The one shining light, the barstaff at Micheners. Other than that disaster after disaster. I strongly reccommend you spend your money elsewhere.

Nice physical structure, in a pretty setting, but we’re here for a business meeting and the wifi so far is pretty much non-​functional. Our meeting prep and presentation prep is way more difficult and stressful than it should be. It’s 2015! And the hotel isn’t even very crowded! We’ve registered our concerns and we’ll see how responsive the hotel team is. So far it’s still abysmal!

As competitors who were in town for the now cancelled Ironman this weekend we cannot thank the staff (and General Manager Randy) enough for their assistance and professionalism. What was supposed to be a happy weekend turned into a crushing disappointment as race directors had to make a tough call and cancel the race due to adverse weather conditions from Hurricane Joaquin.
Our stay at the Hyatt was definitely first class from a seamless check in and assistance, to our check out and rebooking for the possible rescheduled race in two weeks.
Anne the Concierge directed us to some excellent restaurants in Cambridge, Kent in Shipping and Receiving called us this morning to let us know that he could hold our packages until we decided if we were racing or not, and all the front desk crew were incredibly courteous and helpful to us.
The Waterside Grill is great for breakfast and the staff were amenable to our requests.
The rooms are well appointed, quiet and clean with nice views over the Choptank. A nice welcome for athletes was bottles of Gatorade, fruit and water.
We wish we could’ve stayed longer to enjoy more of the facilities and hope to return soon! Thanks again for all your help.

When this place is busy, don’t expect good service. I’ve been here twice– once in the summer high season and once in cooler weather. In August, our room wasn’t even serviced during our stay. We had to ask for the trash to be removed– and it never was. Last winter our experience was great (comfortable bed, clean room, attentive staff) but when we returned over the summer it was quite disappointing to see the negative changes when the hotel was faced with a full house.

If you would like a place to getaway from hustle and bustle then this is the place to be. You can tell from the moment you step foot on the grounds that Hyatt went above and beyond to create a resort that would provide a wonderful experience to its visitors. The resort is clean, well organized and beautifully landscaped. I love the jacuzzi where half of it is indoor and the other is outdoor. The outdoor fireplace is a nice touch also! There are so many activities as well. The most important is the customer service which has been impeccable. The staff make you feel at home. I will definitely be returning to this beautiful establishment!

Beautiful location, awesome activities (though all cramped in a small space), nice rooms, friendly staff… but the service is incredible slow. You can’t make a request anywhere without it taking an hour. We even considering ordering a pizza from papa johns because it would get to our table quicker than a bowl of soup. And by the way, when the soup finally arrived it had a congealed layer on top like it was sitting under a heat lamp for the entire hour while my friends sandwich was being made… which also shouldn’t have taken an hour.
Anyway, beautiful spot and wonderful people but the service is really horribly lacking.

It’s a nice resort with bad service beginning with front desk, to restaurants, and to camp Hyatt kids. For instance, I paid for a half day camp, they had a camp instructor who watched her kid while watching mine, making mine wait an hour while hers got her bathing suit delivered. Are you serious? Then, the service at the restaurant couldn’t help me with a take out order for a Continental breakfast where they forgot my request for a container while I waited and waited. Not to leave out the front desk… Although I checked in online, I had to still go to the front desk to get my keys, the kiosk was down, so I had to wait anyway for the key. The staff appeared irritated that you were there. bizarre staff attitudes

While this resort is amazing in everyway, what sets this resort apart from the rest is the wonderful people at The Black Water Paddle and Peddle. This is the small water craft rental company that is on site at the resort. They rent the jet skis and kayaks etc. It was because of them that really made this trip memorable. We extended our stay by 2 days just because they offered so many options for fun on the water.
We rented kayaks, jet skis, paddle boards and a boat for half the day with them. Super easy and resonable pricing. I guess what I’m trying to say is plan accordingly because it will definitely add days to your stay and wallet.
Now on to the resort.

CONS.
1. All outdoor pools close at 7pm. Way too early!!!
2. The river is unswimable after August as it becomes infested with jelly fish. Signs everywhere. However there was zero when we went. That said we visited early July and spent 2 days doing jet skis and — swam in the River for hours. Zero signs of any. The people at the boat rental place said they had also seen zero but that come August the place is full of them.
3. Some of the food was hit or miss. The flies in the Water grill restaurant were also out of control. However the steak was incredible as well as the Brussel Sprouts. Order the Chicken grilled Avacado mayo sandwich at the restaurant by the lobby. Forgot name.
4. Did I mention the outdoor pools close at 7pm!!!
5. No real creamer in the rooms only powder. Small detail but important if we want to keep up with other 4 diamond resorts
6. No microwaves in rooms.
7. Some miscommunication on the s’more kits with how many sticks you get with one ticket.
8. They have a free laundry room but they don’t tell you this anywhere. They want you to pay for the laundry service… $ 2.50 to wash one pair of socks!
9. Rude shaved ice lady. She wouldn’t make my son’s snow cone chocolate. It was listed on the flavors at no extra charge. She insisted that all they had was the syrup topping for an extra $ 1, even though the day before he got a chocolate one no problem.
In a nutshell please don’t miss this place. Super fun for kids and families.

It’s expensive but it’s worth it for a retreat, conference or getaway. All the amenities and great golf. Food was also generally done well. Rooms were well appointed.

We have been coming to this resort for many years. The facility is clean and relatively up to date. Some of the soft goods could be updated, but overall clean and nice.
My complaint is with the staff and guests. The guests are rude and «entitled» which drives me crazy. The staff is from various countries, which I find enjoyable to talk to but the level of service is declining. Language barrier can be cumbersome.
Marina is well kept. Food is ok and grounds are clean.

The hotel looks nothing like the photos we saw online. It is outdated and our king room was your basic hotel room. The bathroom is small and the water pressure was poor. The bed is like a brick with a bunch of very small pillows to lay on.
Upon entering the hotel through guest parking and walking past all of the conference spaces we were welcomed by that old and musty hotel smell. It set the tone for the whole experience.
The pool area is great for kids, and they do a decent job of providing an adult only area. Activities for children are plentiful and I could see us coming back with our twin boys.
For a romantic and quiet getaway, I would not come back. For the drive from DC metro, you can find plenty of locations that are more up to date and comfortable.

The Hyatt seems to have accepted mediocrity, riding their cachet from their name, and that they are the only family resort-​ish place in the DC area without going all the way to Ocean City or into Virginia.
What is good? The pools, but if you go a little early in the off-​season they might close one of them due to manning. A little annoying. The indoor pool is nice. The game room is a good value added feature. The coffee shop has the best food in the hotel (so chalk that up under bad also); believe it is under the Starbucks banner now.
What needs to improve, big time? Answer your phones! We called the front desk, concierge, etc repeatedly on numerous days and rarely got someone to pick up. Simply unacceptable! The food needs help all around minus the wraps/​muffins and such in the coffee shop. The main restaurant is not impressive; I won’t eat there any more. They used to have decent pool food at the grill down by the pools but they have slipped — gone from big ¼ pound hot dogs to a normal size, less flavorful one. Turkey sandwich was dry, plain, and not very tasty. Yet, the food was somewhat expensive at the pool.

I get so frustrated with the word ‘resort’ being thrown around as if it automatically signifies 5-​star. Definitely not so in this case. There are lots of amenities available, and is very kid-​friendly if that’s what you’re looking for. But the entire complex seems to have been time-​warped from the mid-​80s. Very dated and a little frayed around the edges.
I will say our suite was exceptionally clean but each day, something was missed by housekeeping requiring us to call, which is annoying. The walls must be paper-​thin because we could hear every little noise around us including the elevator which was not close our rooms. We had a water view, which was lovely, but the balcony was full of bird droppings and the lip between the balcony and room was overly high and caused many hurt toes. We were also in the middle of the building so the wings on either side obstructed everything except dead center.
We ate at each of the restaurants and enjoyed the meals however found everything to be over-​priced for the quality and portion sizes. Service left a lot to be desired. The servers were always exceedingly polite and helpful, but often disappeared for long periods. We sent back a round of drinks that took over 30 minutes to be delivered. There were 2 of us, not a party of 20!
My guest really liked the golf course and pro shop. I enjoyed a wonderful signature pedicure at the spa. Again though, prices did not seem commensurate to what was offered. And the spa was filthy with what I hope was just dust and not mold/​mildew in the ceiling vents. Their relaxation room was essentially in a hallway so other clients and staff passed through constantly. Service was great, everything else, not so much.
General take-​away is over-​priced and old-​fashioned.

I’ve never been to a Hyatt Resort before, but man; what amenities!
From a conference center, to a golf course, so indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, fitness center, game room, and so much more. I was afraid that I might be bored here seeing as it’s winter and this resort is one the Chesapeake Bay, but far from it! I’ve had quite an enjoyable time. By far my favorite experience was the spa, but it was also my very first massage so I don’t have much to compare it to.
The facilities are very cleanly and well kept. All the employees are more than gracious to provide you with whatever it is that you might need. I would highly recommend this resort, not only for its amenities but also for its location.

Great waterfront venue with easy parking and quiet charm on Maryland’s beautiful Chesapeake. It’s easy to find and park here. The grounds are expansive and keep you entertained. The décor is Hyatt style, so not decadent but not tacky, but definitely corporate.
The staff are friendly, and the food is as expected from a Hyatt resort. Pretty standard if you know what the Hyatt name will bring you.
