Really great coffee and food. I pretty much stick to the basics — espresso and a snack. The brownies and «power bars» in the cold case are delicious. A must try if you’re in the vicinity and need a quick pick me up.

I walked in to grab a cup of coffee (which was great). They have a box where you can write or pick up nice notes next to the register. I pulled out a note that told me I won a free cookie, and they ended up giving me two! Stopping into Beantowne coffee definitely made my day. I’ll be returning very soon!

Best cookies in all of Cambridge :) slightly undercooked like I love them. M and m and chocolate chip are amazing!!! The coffees are great and the service is exceptional. We go so often for cookies they know us there. It’s a joy to stop in to beantowne and say hello :)

The place is very ‘hipster friendly’ but way too expensive. Maybe they are trying to rip off their rich neighbors (the companies next door), but for poor students this is out of our league.

I work close to this place and used to grab lunch here almost every day. The food is decent, I enjoy the gourmet grilled cheese and the chicken Caesar wrap. The staff is like a revolving door, it seems every time I go there is a new set of people. Half of them are rude and the other half are overly friendly and chatty — not much of an in between to be found. They typically forget when I ask for «no tomato» or whatever id like to exclude.
The owner did contact me about these issues and was very kind and apologetic, which I really appreciated! He definitely cares about great customer service.

Strong four stars. Get the Pollo wrap, chocolate chip cookies, and whatever coffee you want, just be nice to the guy making it and he’ll do right.
Not the cheapest or best organized place, but solid food, good coffee, very good desserts, and not a giant corporation. Win.

I teach yoga at a company in the same sqaure as this coffee shop. And I really want to like it, because it’s so convenient. But the truth is, they’re really inconsistent. Some days, you get lovely folks who are happy to be helpful. Other days, you end up with a latte with an inch of space at the top and a dry cookie.

It’s my first stop every week day to work to get my breakfast and I cannot emphasize enough just how much I love this little coffee shop. Awesome coffee, awesome staff, fast internet and very reasonable prices. Lunchtime sandwiches are great too!

Not sure what the hypes about here. Less than friendly staff stares you down when you ask for breakfast 15 mins after 11. Mediocre sandwiches with slim meat on my chipotle chicken. Kinda a ripoff if you ask me.

Beantowne is part of my lunch break circuit in the area, so I’m in there about once a week or so getting lunch or a beverage in the morning.
All of their coffee and related drinks are fantastic. I’ve had a variety of drinks here from just a plain cup o’ Joe to their iced chai (my personal favorite). The prices are a little high, but certainly not unreasonable considering the quality of the beverages they serve.
Their sandwiches and salads are fantastic. My personal favorite is the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich. Also having the option of getting a half sandwich instead of a whole one is a huge plus for me. Sometimes I don’t want a full sandwich for lunch, and having the option to just buy a half-​sandwich is great, and not something I’ve seen at other sandwich places in the area. Their baked goods are also great, from muffins to lemon bars.
Service is fantastic on both ends of the counter. Lunch seems pretty busy for them but they always manage to make my sandwich rather quickly. I’ve also never had any slow service from the coffee bar.
Overall, highly recommended. Great coffee, great drinks, great sandwiches, great treats. Great place.

Great place for a quick lunch. Ordered the full sized Farmer’s Market and was full off of half. Saved the other half for a second lunch. I loved the green apple slices inside the sandwich and they put in a hefty portion of chicken salad — worth the price. I’ve heard from coworkers that the salads are also good. Will definitely be back.

Good Coffee.

Seems like a great place, but they forgot to build my sandwich. I am not sure if there are too many people behind the counter. It just put a slow spin on an otherwise awesome Friday.

New almost favorite coffee shop in the Kendall area (for stuff 30 minutes or under)
First, brewed coffee here is great. Super tasty, even with a bit of milk (though the milk dispensers themselves are weak crappy little things) – really liked the light roast.
NB: no free refills, so choose a size and choose wisely. If you’re going to have more than one cup go to Flour for slightly less flavorful coffee served with unlimited refills.
Second, chocolate chip cookies are crazy delicious here. A counter dude told me that they get the dough every morning from some bakery in JP and they bake it fresh. Highly highly recommend the chocolate chip cookie. It’s made with cornmeal and they use that melty chocolate so combined with that almost savory, lightly-​gritty textured cookie you’ve actually got still-​melty layers of chocolate.
The tastiness
of the cookie probably nixes this as a possible date spot. Being distracted and urges to binge are not so sexy.
Side notes on this place:
— $ 7 CREDIT CARD LIMIT. They kind of work around this by having you buy these credit tokens to be redeemed at a later point.
— There is a bathroom available, but it’s actually the commercial building’s
— Whatever you make of it, I liked the music selection (included some Sneaker Pimps, Mumford, possibly Toni Braxton?), but the sound system sounds blurry

My office is right next door to Beantowne so I’m in here almost every morning grabbing a coffee and/​or breakfast. Everyone that works here is super sweet and make’s a point to say hello.
Their motto is «life is short, drink great coffee» and the coffee is great. Bagel with their amazing veggie cream cheese, Egg sandwich with avocado, and the cinnamon chip muffins are probably my favorites.
As someone else said 8:45 am is not the time you want to be in there but any other time of day and you can be in and out in under 5 minutes.

Beantowne Coffee rocks! I took a class in Kendall Square last week and my nearest lunch options were BonMe (ok for one day), The Friendly Toast (too pricey for a grab-​and-​go lunch) and Beantowne. This place is PERFECT for a coffee/​cookie break, to grab a sandwich or salad to go, or to sit and get some work done in the café while you nosh.
Day one: chicken, broccoli, cheese spinach wrap and tomato soup.
Day two: chicken bacon ranch sandwich, salt and pepper chips, m&m cookie.
All very yummy!
The staff is friendly, they take cards (something like a $ 7 minimum, which is no prob if you’re grabbing lunch), and they’re happy to give you an ice water if you ask. They move quickly through the line and there are straw, utensil, and napkin stations at both ends of the café.
I didn’t try any of their coffee or tea beverages, but I dug lunch there. Great option if you work in the area!

I came here a couple of weeks ago with my daughter and a couple of friends because the Friendly Toast was closed. Yes, it was a VERY sad day but Beantowne coffee was open. I would definitely have given this place a 4 star and no less, had it not ran out of pretty much everything I wanted to eat and they couldn’t start making lunch stuff yet because they were still serving breakfast.
Food was good still, but the other part was just a nuisance. And also, no bathroom.

This place is amazing!
1. The staff if the friendliest group of friends. They all seem to get along with each other and so happy to see customers everyday.
2. Coffee — better than Starbucks, and they have specials each day, which I try and get to experience different flavors (think Nicaraguan and Columbian blends).
3. Sandwiches and paninis — deliciously fresh. My favorite is the Chicken Caesar wrap. They put olives in it… perfecta! Only downside is, they can take a while to make your sandwich, even if it doesn’t involve cooking.
4. Prices — reasonable. The sandwiches can get a little pricey, but they’re all under $ 10 for a full sandwich (you can also order half). Coffees are in and around $ 2, depending on size obviously.
I’m always zipping through here to grab a bite or a drink, but I see a lot of people sitting and eating and getting work done on their laptops. It also looks like a good place for a meeting.
Bottom line: Great coffee, great food, great service, great prices.

7 minutes for a pressed sandwich-i’ll take this wait any time! The food here is wonderful, especially for one of the pressed paninis. I love the atmosphere, the selection of sandwiches and the coffee. The staff always seems like they are having a good time and it makes me want to work here! The prices are a bit steep but I think it is def worth it.
Grab you sandwich find a bench outside and enjoy!
