Ambassador Brattle Cab

I just call the Ambassador cab today for a customer who are going to airport. I have a list of cab companies i can call, Ambassador is the first on the list, so i called them with out thinking too much. The person who answer the phone ask for the name of the customer, I told him I do not know instead i gave him the name of the hotel and phone #. the person said ok, the cab will arrive in 10 – 15 minutes… 20 minutes pass… the customer came and ask if the cab is here, i called back, the lady told me its on the way should be there around 5 minutes. 10 minutes pass… I called the Ambassador cab once more, a guy answer the phone with impatient tone of voice. Before i can start, he asked for my address, where i am going, name and phone #. I told him I already order a cab and just wondering where it is. You know what the dude on the phone said? He said «because you didnt provide me a name we didnt order a cab for you» with a rude tone of voice! WT%^&%$@$! REALLY?! I been helping customer calling cabs for several times and most cab companies treat us well because we provide them business. So I said” Yea? really? ok ok” and I hang up right away. Wasting my time, I then call another cab, they recognize us right away with out asking any unnecessary questions; within less than 5 minutes, the cab arrives. I know Ambassador are a hug company with different businesses and probably been in cab business for around 50 years so they dont care… Anyway they are in our shit-​list now and we will never call Ambassador cab for our customer. They were the first number to call but now all their numbers are gone from our calling list. I really suggest Ambassador cab invest some time and $$ on their customer service if they value their business.

0 stars. The people are unbelievably rude showing no interest in actually picking you up to go anywhere. I tried to get them to pick me up at a hospital… They didn’t even know where the main enterance was and refused to listen when I tried to explain where it was.

Will never take Cambridge’s Ambassador Brattle Cab again. Pre-​booked them yesterday for a ride to airport. Doesn’t show up. Upon calling I find out my cab took someone else from my location, and they never informed me. They tell me to wait 5 – 10 minutes for another. Obviously I immediately call an Über who shows up 2 min. later. When they next call me, the minute I get the word Über out of my mouth, they actually hang up on me!

Never again. Scheduled a 4:35am pickup via their website the night before. At 4:50 am I was still waiting on the curb. When I called to see if they were coming, it took a few minutes to «check the GPS» and they said they were 5 – 8 minutes away. Thanks but no thanks – by now they were 20 minutes late and I needed to get to the airport. Thankfully, an Über car was 5 minutes away and picked us up promptly.
I’m fine with using cabs, but in order to compete with Lyft and Über, they’ve got to do better than that. I’ll never call this cab company again.

I feel bad because I have had one or two good drivers, but for the most part they are rude, nasty, angry, and always on the phone. The one I took yesterday (Cab #81) took the cake, however, for rudeness and distracted driving. He drove aggressively while having a personal conversation on the phone and drinking his coffee (multi-​tasking genius!), missed the street he was supposed to turn onto, took the long way to get back on track, then switched off his meter just as we got to the house. He mumbled something and drove past the house because he wasn’t paying attention. I had to yell at him to stop. He charged me more than the meter. I still tipped him but was so disgusted by his blatant dishonesty and total disregard for his customers (and for all on the road, really).

Um, let me think: The cars always smell and are generally dirty inside, impolite drivers, constant honking at other drivers, angry gesturing at other drivers, ripoff fees.
I had one of their crack drivers honking at me today in Davis Sq because I evidently did not move fast enough for him to pull up 30 feet to the red light. These idiots created the market for Über and the like. 10,000 years from now, they will dig up a fossilized Ambassador cab and wonder what it is, and why does is smell?
One more item. These dopes filter the Unilocal and Google+ reviews and place the positive ones on their website. Funny when you look online, this place shows as train wreck via the real reviews.
Update: I placed this same information on their website prior to writing this review, which of course states they will reply as soon as possible. In true form, to date nobody has contacted me via phone or email.

rude on the phone — would not listen when I tired to explain the location of pick up in the time I was on the phone someone requested an Über car — 3 minutes the car was there — never again

Terrible customer service. I don’t even want to imagine what it would be like to actually use this company. As soon as they picked up the phone they spoke to me very patronizingly. The whole time it sounded like he was sneering at me. I had called to schedule a pick up at a later time, but when they first picked up it was confusing because the first thing the responder did was ask what my phone number was. Nothing about «Ambassador Brattle Cab» or anything, just simply *click* «What’s your number?» I was slightly confused because of that, and instinctively asked, «my number?» To which he just gives a deep, obviously exasperated sigh, and speaks very slowly and irritatedly, «Yeessss, youurr numberrrr.» This is how the conversation continued until the end. It was a short conversation because he cut it off short. Apparently, the place my group wanted to be picked up had a cab stand nearby, so he informed me that they don’t send cabs to pick up at that place and that I needed to give a specific address. So I decided to ask if I could give an address for a different spot to have my group picked up, to which he again sighed and told me to just go to the cab stand when we were ready and hung up. At this point I decided that I wasn’t going to use their company.
I also wished that this conversation had been in person so I could hand him a roll of toilet paper to clean up his asshole act.

Do not even think about it !! Read again DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!
First it took 45 minutes for the cab driver to find our place. My husband kept asking and they kept telling (Read shitting) that cab is stuck at Harvard square. What a bullshit! When the cab came from Central square.
Second the cab driver charged us 7.50 for toll! Yes, I mean it, 7:50 for passing MASS PIKE Toll. He also charged 50 cents to put our luggage in the trunk. What the hell?! They do not tell about this when I asked for extra charges. Seriously do not consider taking this cab, unless you want to get ripped off.

If I could give this place a minus 10 it would be to high of a score. They charged me $ 33 three different times in a row on two separate credit cards after I payed them the $ 33 in cash because the driver said the charges didn’t go through
I have been dealing with this since the beginning of July … It’s now almost the end of September. …unbelievable !!!

This was the worst cab ride I’ve ever experienced. The driver of 185 taxi decided to leave me in the middle of nowhere to pick up another customer.

I was not even in the cab and I had a terrible experience with one. They are not careful drivers, AT ALL. I was driving home from work and I was in the left lane and the cab was in the left lane which merged into mine, therefore if you follow the rules of the road, he was supposed to yield to me. Instead he speeds up and cuts me off so short that if i hadn’t slammed on my brakes he would have hit my car and involved us both in a car accident.
I will NEVER get into one of those cabs if that is the way they drive. It is not safe and I would never trust one again. They should be more careful about who they let drive for their company, it is causing them a bad reputation.

Never again — took a cab from Harvard square to Dorchester ave that costs 33 $ — it’s usually a lot less — don’t do it y’all.take an Über

I walked out of the restaurant and found a cab parked along the street. Taxi driver was on a personal phone call and didn’t even notice me. I knocked on the window to see if he was available and he nods his head yes. I jump in and tell him my destination with the tab being $ 9.70. I get to the destination and hand him my credit card. Driver tells me «Sorry no credit card». I look in my wallet and find that I am a dollar short. I had to run into my hotel, and find an ATM machine that charged me a 3.50 service charge. I had a 20 dollar bill ready to give to the cab driver and he tells me he doesn’t have change. WTF? I had to take my 20 to the hotel restaurant and ask for change.
Should I be pissed because ATMs do not dispense 1s or 5s, or 10s. Maybe technology hasn’t reached all taxi cab companies but COME ON! Not even an old school card swiper???
Anyways rider beware! Make sure you have plenty of 1s, 5s, and 10s handy in order to ride this cab company.

I booked a cab for the airport a week beforehand and confirmed closer to the actual date. I called after 10 minutes and was told the cab would arrive soon. After waiting 20 minutes and panicking, I called the Cambridge Checker Cab Co., which showed up within 5 minutes on short notice. Finally got a call from Ambassador Brattle telling me the taxi was waiting — 30 minutes late. I apologized and explained that I had to get another cab because I was going to miss my flight. The guy just hung up. I’m definitely never going to try booking a cab with them again.

Arrived on time, but picked up the wrong person (I was moving out of a dorm the same day as a bunch of other people). I called to see what was going on, and they sent another driver. Another cab arrived, and we got all my luggage loaded about 30 minutes later than planned. As we pulled out of the driveway, I told him my destination, and he realized I’m not the person he was supposed to pick up. We saw another cab from the same company, and he rolled down his window to see if that one was the right one. It probably was, but because it was raining very hard, the other driver didn’t want to unload and reload luggage, so he insisted it didn’t matter and just drove off.
The driver had to use a GPS and ended up taking 30 minutes to drive me somewhere that was 10 – 15 min away according to Google Maps. He made the trip uncomfortable/​awkward. Then he charged me $ 45 – I don’t know why. Because it took so long (his fault)? Or because that’s the flat rate to the airport (where he was originally supposed to go; still pretty much his fault, since he could have easily made sure I was the right person before we loaded all my luggage)?
tl;dr, poorly organized, no communication, overpriced, will not rely on them again.

I had just the worst cab experience. I was staying at the Sonesta and they called a cab for me. When we got to our stop, I needed to use a credit card to expense the trip on my corporate card (Which was $ 7.00). The cab driver said no, and i informed him I didn’t have cash, and he said he would go to a bank. First of all, he could take credit cards, and was choosing not to, finally he pulled out the credit card matching which he had hiding under a jacket and he said I could only use it if i tipped $ 5.
Outrageous experience. Very disappointed.

I hate writing unfavorable reviews for a company. Every company makes mistakes. But this company has put me behind schedule so many times.
The worst experience was when I patiently waited 30 minutes for a cab on a slow cold evening. Even though multiple other cab companies drove by, out of respect for the driver and the company, I paitently waited. Apparently this was my mistake. I called the company and they told me I should never have to wait more than 15 min. They called another driver who would arrive in 5 min. But he took more than 10 min and still didn’t show. They then called in a 3^rd cab. When he arrived, this guy told me he would NOT take me to my destination (only 1.5 miles away) because he was driving home the «other way.» The operator was pretty flustered when she heard this and finally had another cab drive in. On my way home, I explained my frustration to the driver re waiting nearly an hour, and he expressed nothing but contempt and dismissed my frustration.
So I gave up on Ambassador.
Today, a year later, I waited 15 minutes again, cab no-​showed. I called. Told to wait 5 min. Wait again. No cab. Wait another 5 and called it quits and took the bus.
I noticed they *usually* are better if you give them a few hours notice. Otherwise you’re better off taking a horse and buggy.

I guess I must be in a bad mood, because this is the third 1 star I’ve given in a row… and normally I’m a 5 star kind of girl.
But, my last review reminded me I was late in filing this one.
Every ambassador cab I’ve been in is disgusting. Like…1984, failing suspension, ripped seats, crappy upholstry, dirty nastiness.
Every ambassador cab driver I’ve encountered has given me lip. Every. Single. One.
Even if you SPECIFICALLY ORDER A CAB that will take credit cards, they will complain that they want cash.
Get with it, guys. Credit cards are here to stay.
If you’re not going on a long enough trip, they complain.
I suppose the only reason they can stay in business is because cambridge has, apparently, so few cab companies.
If you have a choice though, don’t go with them. You will be given lip and feel like a dirtier person.

They will hang up on you and refuse you their own names and will not allow you to file a complaint! They even said, «No one here cares about you or your complaint»
