Cambria Palms Motel

We stayed overnight at this cute little motel in Cambria and really for around $ 100 bucks It was very clean and cozy. The office staff was friendly. The courtyard was very cute! On the website they offer the use of the gas fire pit and bicycles that can be borrowed to explore around town. When we checked in we were told that the bicycles were all flat and we could not use them so we were a little disappointed. The bed in room #2 was comfortable at best but extremely loud every time we moved around! We stepped out for dinner and when we returned the staff lit the fire pit and it was lovely! There is a creek at the end of the property and the sound of water running and very active frogs adds to the already charming atmosphere. I would recommend this place for an inexpensive weekend getaway as a matter of fact we will probably come back with the kiddos and the dog since they have a couple double rooms with kitchens and are a dog friendly establishment. I just hope they fix those bicycles soon!

The walls, doors and windows are thin so you can hear the neighbors. The morning sun wakes one up because of the way the drapes are hung. The décor is minimalist. The bed is lumpy and soft. The pillows are overly stuffed. It is exactly what one would expect from a hotel built in the 50’s. Walking distance to the town, dog friendly, very clean and quite over all if it wasn’t for the other guest and street noise.

Apparently they remodeled not too long ago, and the results are pretty wonderful. Our room was very comfortable and spacious with a great king size bed. Hardwood floors, hallelujah! Much easier to keep clean, no filthy carpet to worry about — I can’t imagine why someone would prefer carpet at this price point. Use their website to book, it comes out cheaper than those aggregator website for some reason.
It’s not the four seasons by any means, but a spotless, comfortable room at this value is worth five stars to me.

Not for me. I didn’t think I’d have to specify wanting a room with AC in a tourist location in California, but you do, because this place doesn’t have any. I wondered why all the guests had their doors and windows wide open at 8:00 at night, and found out that’s why! The room was pretty stuffy and warm with the windows and door closed, so it was either sleep with everything open in a noisy motel right off the highway, or sleep with everything closed, wake up in the middle of the night repeatedly — because of the heat and the noisy neighbors. The walls are paper thin and there were two mystery doors in the room that couldn’t be opened because they had weird locks on them. Speaking of locks, the doors unlock with an actual key. It doesn’t seen like security for their guests is very important to them. They’re more interested in keeping the mystery doors locked.
The front desk really likes to advertise the fire pit for some reason. I guess for people who like to feel like they’re camping off the side of the road and want to mingle with a bunch of strangers.
The sheets looked clean, but the bathroom looked dirty. I think it’s because of the pattern on the tiles in the shower. They have a newer looking television in the room if you’re up for channel surfing.
I wouldn’t turn on the ceiling fan if you’re going to have its light on too. It makes it look like the light is flickering and is annoying. Our other lamps were broken, so it was our only choice for lighting.
It’s definitely NOT worth what they charge for a room. We cancelled our stay the same night and found another hotel on short notice. The only reason I gave them two stars is because they’re pet friendly and I liked that. Once the dogs start barking though, it can get a little annoying. Being here felt like staying in someone’s spare room in a trailer park. I can see how that «homey”/camp feel might appeal to some, but it really wasn’t for me.

I just stayed with my doggy at this sweet little pet friendly and was very happy. I am giving it just four rather than five stars only because it is a basic Motel. The owners are very kind, it was comfortable and clean, very close to downtown (just a couple of blocks) and there is a dog park next door. They did a very nice job creating cute little outdoor spaces to sit in as well. The price was so incredibly reasonable and location was perfect. I will definitely come back again.

In a good location .4 miles from the shops, next to a dog park and wine tasting up a road across the street. Very affordable and allows pets. Rooms are basic and small, beds are not comfortable, no light in the shower. Hard wood floors which is great for keeping it clean, just bring slippers. No pool, spa or any activities on site except a fire pit that is turned on for an hour in the evening. It does look to be recently renovated. It was not the right choice for a large family, no one could sleep. We thought with such a cute town on a Saturday night Cambria would be hopping! Not so, we were back in the tiny room by 8 after the town rolls up by 5p. Def a day town.

OK, it’s a place to stay when all the town accomodations are full and this is the only place left because it’s the very last hotel on the main road. When the motorcycle crowd cruises on in, get ready for your wake up call… the deep rumbling of the morning «start-​up» of their machines.

I just spent 3 days in Cambria with my best friend of 40 years. We loved this motel. Super nice staff. The rooms were clean and nice. The bed was very comfy. A great place to stay for a good price.

First the positives: the room was clean and they have a lovely vintage-​looking sign out front.
I’d put this place in the category of boutique motel. It has some semblance of cuteness but it was overpriced for the quality delivered.
The room had the basics — bed, chair, desk, night stands with table lamps. No closet but there was a small rack on the wall to hang a handful of clothes. No dresser. Small flat screen TV.
The bed was the worst I’ve ever slept on in a motel. It was mushy, lumpy, and soft — it had very little support and my back was killing me in the morning. It appeared to be a full, not even a standard queen which made it a very tight fit for a couple (and neither of us are big people).
The pillows were lumpy and old.
Seriously, this reminded me of the crappy bed and pillows that people provide in their guest rooms at home. They never sleep on the bed so they have no idea what they are subjecting their guests to. Or it’s a safety mechanism to discourage frequent and lengthy stays.
The one thing you should be able to count on, even in a cheap motel (and this is not cheap), is a nice firm, supportive mattress. Even the $ 67 motel I stayed at the previous weekend in Weaverville had a comfortable bed.
It’s almost as if they bought the cheapest beds they could find at a discount furniture store and intend to keep them well beyond their recommended life span.
The shower head was not functioning correctly. It was so clogged that the water was pouring out of the side in a stream.
All of this would be fine in a $ 60 a night motel. However, at $ 165 a night it’s ludicrous.

I give this motel 4 stars not because it’s a 4 star establishment but because it meet and exceeded my expectations.

The cheapest place to stay in Cambria in every way. Lumpy bed, bugs, combative front desk, clogged shower drain, dirty and thin walls.
You get what you pay for, and that’s fine. I didn’t expect an amazing stay, and I’ve definitely stayed in worse lodging. Oh, they have a gas fire pit that is on from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Guess that’s something…

We loved this place! Super sweet, family owned motel. Staff were informative and friendly. A very quiet place to relax in the evenings!
We were able to walk to the downtown area for dinner, but it is located far enough from the hustle and bustle to feel relaxed and not have to worry about parking.
The room was very clean, hardwood floors, and a great shower. We slept very well and enjoyed the simplicity of the place. We will definitely stay there again!

Such a value! This place was perfect for an impromptu road trip stop with our dog as it was cheap ($ 89) and pet friendly. It was nicely renovated, clean and had great attention to detail. The family running it was very nice and we had a very positive experience overall. The walls are thin, but it’s not bad. The landscaping is beautiful and there’s a cozy fire pit in the back. You can check out wine glasses at the front desk which is perfect after a stop at one of the many local wineries. They also rent cruiser bikes which we took advantage of and rode to dinner. Normally the Nikes have to be back by dark for safety reasons but they let us borrow them longer because we had our own lights with us. All in all it was a peaceful, affordable place with very friendly staff.

I’ve stayed at this hotel a number of times; and I enjoy it. It isn’t a fancy place. But they have very comfortable, clean rooms, and quiet grounds. The maids, front desk have always been super friendly and warm. They have a awesome fire pit.
If your looking for a B&B experience, this isn’t for you, but if you looking for a clean, basic comfortable room this is exactly what you are looking for.
The only issue I really had was in room 16, the entrance door was very weak. Any other town I would have been more concerned. However, i hope its a upgrade they are considering in the future. the previous room i stayed in had a more solid door.

Harry and his wife, the managers of this motel, are extremely hospitable! They are thoroughly interested in you enjoying your stay.
The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the pillows were comfortable, and the feeling of the space is very safe.
The Internet is very high-​speed!
The motel also offers complementary use of a hairdryer, which I really appreciate.
There is a small garden space in the back of the hotel, which is a nice place to sit and relax.
During the daytime, after around 10am, you can hear cows from a neighboring field. At night time the cows are quiet. I enjoyed listening to the cows, to my surprise!:)
The location of this motel is is great, because it is walking distance to majority of the town’s shops.
For value and quality per dollar, this is an excellent place to stay.

Very, very close to a 4-​star review, if only for one slip-​up, and it’s mostly on the housekeeping folks.
They forgot to put towels in our room! But we were running late, and didn’t have time to swing by the front desk to mention it, and because it’s a small, sleepy little town, the front desk is only open from 8-​noon and 3−9pm.
Besides that, though, this is a great alternative to the more expensive hotels elsewhere in town or a bed-​and-​breakfast. This is a standard motel in that the doors do face the parking lot, but security isn’t really a big deal in Cambria. I mean, really, what sort of crime might go on in this town? Hey, you! Give me back my antique plaque of a berry!
The rooms were remodeled, seemingly recently. The floor was a fake wood that didn’t hold the cold outdoor temperature, which was nice. The wall heater was an old model, but it did the trick, just took a tiny bit longer to warm up the room. The TV was a flatscreen — not huge, but big enough to see from the bed, which was large and surprisingly comfortable.
The bathroom was clean, though there was minimal counter space for toiletries, but the water heater worked great.
There’s a fire pit out back, but we had an engagement to be at and didn’t get a chance to check it out.
Really, a solid little motel. Other reviewers noted that the price was somewhat high, but we got out room for about $ 105 on New Years Eve, and compared to the $ 250 – 350 of most places in town that night, that’s not bad at all.
Sure, you could stay up in San Simeon at a chain motel, but you know you’re getting a dump. I’d pay the extra $ 40 and stay here.

If you are on a budget, then this place is for you! We stayed here for two nights before Thanksgiving to visit my father-​in-​law who was staying in Cambria with friends, and we only paid $ 160 something for our room. A bargain indeed, but you do have to not mind a few things. The chairs in the room have seen better days, there is no counter in the bathroom to put your toiletries (had to place them on the window sill), and the small wall heater next to the door turned on and then off after a few minutes. We were cold the second evening since the heater didn’t really work. The room is clean enough and I do appreciate the wood floor instead of old, dingy carpet in the bedroom area.
This place was recommended by my father-in-law’s friend who lives in Cambria. She said it’s the better of the two motels in the area. She must have thought we were on a tight budget to recommend this place. Had I known that this place was this basic, we would have stayed elsewhere.
I liked its location despite the fact that it’s next to an apartment complex. The walls are very thin, so you can pretty much hear the people in the next room and the people in the apartment complex next door. But, you can walk to cafes and restaurants in downtown Cambria from this motel. Food and shops are only a few minutes away on foot. No need to drive.
The motel also had a gas fire pit and a small patio area. We didn’t really hang out there, but I imagine it’d be a nice spot to hang out when the weather is warmer.
The reception area is only open a few hours in the morning (around check out time) and a few hours in the afternoon/​early evening (starting around check in time). We got to the Cambria area before check in time so we just stopped by a winery in Paso Robles to pass the time and taste some wine! Definitely a must do when you’re in the area!
Next time we’re in Cambria, we’ll stay in a more comfortable place. I don’t mind paying a little bit more for nicer accommodations and more comfort.

A decent place to stop for a night. Its a family run place so sometimes there is only one person working behind the desk so you might not get things you ask for. Hardwood floors makes the rooms clear of pet hair.

This Was a WOW Motel From Hell !

We purchased on Hotel tonight, had no idea where we were going .
The Motel was at the very end of MoonStone, the place was barren with one maid .
We arrived at 2pm, to find a sign on the door «closed», we had been driving all night and was going to check the place out .
We learned there was no security, and no attendant between 11−3pm or from 10pm to 8am .
When I arrived I was given 2 keys .
The rate was a discount on
$ 110.00
It was a 2 star hotel, rehabbed with paint, the beds were old, and furniture looked like pieces purchased at goodwill ‚
Not worth 50 dollars !
I was super disappointed at the amenities .
The woman at the desk was not very friendly, but was kind enough to let me look at room .
The first room #11 was far from what I consider cozy, clean or nice .
Small bath, tiny shower, the bed squeaked like it was 25 years old, it was literally lumpy, the walls were plaster that had 25 coats of paint, the walls had marks and scuffs all over .
No privacy, the window was on the parking lot, the front door opened to the bed. The motel is old, rehabbed with paint .
I choose room 15 the Only room that was decent yet marginal .
The lock on the door was broke, their was dried jelly spilled inside the refrigerator ‚
the walls were scuffed up as if we just
Checked in, after a party was going on in the room .
The doors and walls hand dirty with finger prints .
The Only person on the premises was the maid, I showed her the mess, she promptly cleaned and told me in broken language to tell the attendant.
Later that day I took my shoes off and felt dirt, I used a white washcloth to rinse it twice the floors were FILTHY !!!
We were told we could keep the room ‚
The next morning I was awakened by a startling banging on the door, «a burley sounding attendant was yelling in front of my door, in the parking lot, as if were a drill Sargent, «You gotta get out by 11 we have this room booked » .
Make sure you bring ear plugs as I was kept up until 3am both nights by the man in room next to us .
I could hear every word he spoke as well as hearing his tv .
At 8 am the maids cleaning, the banging noise on both sides, left me frazzled .
At 10 am after trying to sleep a little longer I hear a loud banging on the door once again .
Startled I opened it to see a maid with a canister vacume banging the vacume against at the door !
I asked her to stop, 5 minutes later the Attendant literally returned banging so hard the windows shook .She stood at the door Yelling for us to get out, that it was 10 am and we should be ready to leave .
Beyond anything I have ever experienced
in my life.
The noise level was horrid, but what was more unforgettable was the Attendant in the morning. She was RUDE, Boisterous, and Militant.
As we were leaving for our meeting the next morning, a strange fella appeared from out of no where .
He walked off the street from our of nowhere .
Unshaven, his pupils were as big a moons, very Sketching looking. It was
was scary as hell, he asked if he could hang out with us, he said he was kicked out of his sisters, he asked who we were with, he looked like he was on drugs, and was scouting out the place.
There was not a soul around, I told him we called police that he was on private property, he started walking in circles, We are standing in this barren parking lot not a soul around, frightened .
Than, I spotted the evening attendant in the office .
I stood there banging on the office door, panicking about this strange guy, who just asked is for 10 dollars than began lingering around. I ran to office knocked on door, than had to bang as the attendant literally looked at me, than turned her back, and returned to what she was doing, ignoring me, as if because it was not time for her shift .
Finally I raised my voice while banging and said, «open the door» .
I told her what was going on, largely concerned for her being there alone and she did NOTHING !
She did not make a report, for our safety and the safety of future guests. She pretty much blew us off.
The only pleasant part of my experience was room 15 had a nice patio overlooking a fire pit .
The back yard was the best part of the stay .
We booked 2 nights on
in advance, because we had meetings in the area and did not have time to look for better accommodations or know we would be the last hotel on the strip .
If you desire any service, amenities or firm and new beds, security, or cleanliness do not stay there .
So many better choices .
There are much more beautiful accommodations for less on Moonstone that are oceanfront .
