Safefire Indoor Shooting Range

Fantastic range and gun store. Prices are fair and everyone is friendly. Range staff is professional, without being stuffy, and when you are talking about shooting this is paramount. Beautiful facility, plenty of parking and lots of guns for rent.

Great place to go shoot. Clean and well ventilated. RO’s are friendly and knowledgeable, they are willing to offer suggestions to improve grip, targeting, etc. Everyone RO I have talked to is excellent. There is upside and downside to renting handguns. Upside you can exchange what you rented for any other gun in the same caliber. Downside is if you have another person with you and they also shoot the gun it is additional $ 20! $ 40 to shoot 50 rounds of ammo is steep. Since we did not know it was an extra fee for the few rounds my wife shot they did reduce the 2^nd fee by $ 10. Very good customer service.

After using the range twice, I decided to become a member. I highly recommend checking this range out, you will not be disappointed.
I went from being a below average shooter to be able to qualify for Law enforcement level shooting in 4 weeks of training. Yes I was shooting 4 – 5 times per week but it paid off.
If you’re a beginner with firearms and want to learn before you buy a handgun, this is the place to go. The staff are both friendly and exceptionally well trained and helpful.

This place is the nicest range in the Portland metro area, hands down. The only indoor range that I have found that allowed me to sight in my .223.
Please don’t bring your bi-​metal ammo here, they won’t allow you to shoot it because it will penetrate their armor plating. Please don’t try to sneak it in with other ammo, they will know because it ruins their plating and they will charge you for the repair. This means no Tulammo, Wolf, WPA, Silver Bear, Bear, Norinco, anything with a green tip. Just don’t do it, I want to be able to continue to shoot my rifle here.
My experience with Safefire started when I was looking for a place to take my new AR that I purchased; not wanting to be out in the rain I looked around for an indoor place that would allow me to sight in my new AR.
The facility is brand new, its clean and nice the storefront was well stocked with friendly people. Not a huge selection of firearms but they had all the standard items that someone could want has a new gun buyer.
The range is downstairs, they charge $ 20 an hour. They ask that you buy their targets, they are priced high. You can shoot your own ammunition and pick up your brass. This is more than fair, this facility is well worth this cost.
You get your lane assigned to you, you go to your designated room and find your lane. Each lane is separated by plexi glass so you wont have any issues with other peoples brass from the next lane hitting you. The pulley system is all electronic, there is a touch pad that will take the target out to 10, 20, 50 or 75max feet out, as well as increments of whatever distance you want. Ventilation is awesome not once did I notice an excess of powder in the air that you often find in other facilities. There is a range officer in each room at all times. The range officer lets you know if you shoot too high and hit their signage he will talk to you. If you shoot their electronic pulleys then they will talk to your credit card.
The RO’s are nice and have offered tips to improve my form.

I find myself here frequently lately as I’ve taken a liking to guns and shooting. Very nice and clean range with a sweet target setup. The range officers are very knowledgeable and friendly. The retail side isn’t too bad either as they have very competitive pricing. They also have a good selection of hand guns that you can rent and shoot before you buy. You also get $ 20 off if you buy that model of gun! One of these days maybe in the summer I will be able to justify a membership.

This place is the best I’ve been to and I’ve been to more than a few across the USA. For about 45 bucks a month you can shoot to your hearts content. As described by others the lanes are first class. Employees are very friendly and helpful. Compared to what you pay (anywhere) for ammunition I just can’t understand the complaints about $ 1.50 — $ 2.00 for targets. Even if you bought them elsewhere it would still be a dollar or more — who hoo! You saved a whole dollar. May as well save all your money and go back shooting in the woods.

Great facility with excellent pricing. I bought a platinum membership before they were even open, and have brought many family members and friends to the facility, some of which was their first time ever shooting.
Every single Range Safety Officer (RSO) is extremely qualified to be there, and goes out of their way to make sure my guests and myself have a spectacular experience. The facilities are always clean, and the staff, both up and downstairs, are above reproach.
Not only is the shooting experience well-​beyond expectations, the retail side of the business is amazing also. They do their best to keep a very diverse inventory of different brands and calibers of different firearms (as I write this, they’re low on compact 9mm’s due to popular demand), and make sure each item is priced very competitive. I was in the market for some Troy «Squid Grips» and was going to purchase them on Amazon, but decided to see what Safefire’s pricing was first, and they happened to be $ 2 less expensive than online!
My last reason for a 5 star review is their ammo inventory and pricing. Not only do they have the ammo in stock and priced fair (including /​22 at the moment), there’s no hassle of being able to run in and buy a box and having to wait forever for someone to help you, unlike other big-​box retail establishments. Whether you’re in the middle of shooting and ran out of ammo, or you’re driving by and have it on your shopping list, Safefire makes it convenient for you to be able to get the right caliber and brand for the right price.
All-​in-​all, I can’t say there would be one thing I would do differently if I owned the company. The owner and staff are extremely receptive to new ideas for both classes and inventory. I have made a couple of personal suggestions and was surprised to see the owner take it into consideration, do research, and actually decide to carry that particular item (GPS Range bags… GO BUY ONE!) Too often you’ll find the owner of a company «stuck in their ways», but I don’t think that for once second with Safefire.
A couple of quick points to make:
1) Children are allowed over age 10 (height requirement for shooting over the bench).
2) You can bring your own ammo as long as it’s not steel cased, tracer rounds, or steel core. They will not charge you a «corking fee» to bring your own vs. there’s. If you rent a firearm, you have to use their ammo.
3) Rifles are allowed up to .308
4) If it’s your first time, try and not show up first thing Saturday mornings. There’s quite a wait then. If you do want to shoot Saturday, I advise coming around 2PM. They’re open until 8 on the weekdays and it’s not quite as busy, so there’s a strong chance you’ll get a lane when you walk in.
5) You have to buy their targets at $ 0.75 — $ 2.00 ea. This is to regulate both the material of the targets as well as the content.
6) If you’ve never handled a firearm before, and are interested, I recommend taking one of their beginner classes. The instructors are in NO WAY condescending, and you’ll leave satisfied and confident.
7) If you want to safe your brass, ask for a firing lane on the far right of the bay. That way it’s easier to keep your casings segregated from the other shooters. Let the RSO know as well so they don’t sweep up your brass.

I visited this place this weekend and I thought very highly of it. The facility is amazing and the people in the store must have been reading the Unilocal post because they were supper awesome. They gave me a tour of the facility and showed me where the simulator will be. All and all this is the best indoor range in Vancouver, WA. I have to admit the membership fees are a little step, but I think they are worth it if you utilize the discounts and other benefits. As far as Ammo goes they are comparable in price to others in the area. I have to say the best part of this range is the fact that they know how to treat Veterans. They give a discount to vets and military personnel. Any place willing to do this for our veterans deserves a 5 star rating in my book.

Well, after spending more time here; I stand corrected. This place is great. The owner turned out to be a very nice person, and the staff (all of them) seem to be very attentive. We have spent a lot of time shooting here, and I have to say, the range masters are the best I’ve ever come across. I am looking forward to taking some classes and learning more about shooting techniques.

First visit I was on a lunch break. I was impressed by the inventory.
2^nd visit looking for AR parts and walked out with a gold membership. Came back and bought AR parts. They facilitated a transfer for me. No one was rude or condescending. Please read what the store is about and it sheds light on the customer service. Danna runs the business well and I wish them the best!

We have been in a few times now. I have taken my 13 year old daughter, my 20 year old daughter, and a friend with no experience but is eager to learn.
The retail shop when you walk in is very well stocked with the most wanted merchandise in the categories of ammo, handguns, a few rifles, and accessories and supplies for cleaning, extra mags, etc… and plenty of Safefire branded shirts and apparel. The staff in the retail shop seems knowledgeable so far, and very friendly (Dave and Katelyn are my favorites, of course).
Downstairs to the range area. The check-​in counter is always clean, and the staff on this level friendly. We did have a guy that seemed a little confused getting us checked in once, but a gal walked in and took over for him and then it was pretty smooth. The $ 20/​Hour ($ 10/​Hour for kids) seems a bit pricey to me, really… but it is a state-​of-​the-​art, brand new, completely indoor facility and I understand they have overhead to be responsible for. I only balk at that cost a little because I can shoot at home, for free. But not everyone has that option and in the winter the indoor range is certainly more comfortable. If you happen to be a female, however… go on Monday. Its Ladies Day and you get your first hour for free.
The guns they have to rent are the most popular ones right now, so its easy to get one to try out before you decide on what to purchase if you are having trouble narrowing it down to what you like best. You do have to purchase ammo from them for their rentals (pretty standard at any range Ive ever been to). The rentals are a $ 20 flat fee… if you choose one, toss a few rounds through it and decide it isnt what you want you can exchange it for a different one at no additional charge (I was told there was no limit to how many you could try on that $ 20 fee, but that you would need to purchase ammo separately with each different caliber you tried out). I was also told that if I didnt use all the ammo I purchased for a rental gun I could use that same ammo next time I came in and rented the same one.
You also must purchase their paper targets. I havent gotten a clear answer as to why, since paper targets are pretty much paper targets anywhere they are purchased, but they have them ranging from .99 to $ 3.50/ea, I believe. If you purchase more than one and dont use it, they do allow you to bring it back for use on your next trip as long as it is their target, branded with their name.
TIP: Tell the counter person checking you in that you plan to reload your carry ammo prior to leaving the firing line, or the extra few moments it takes you to do that will be charged at another hour (I told the RSO who said «No Problem», but when I got out to the counter to check out the info had not been shared with them and they wanted me to pay for an extra hour. They did fix it, and it did not happen the next trip in when I forewarned them at check-​in and also forewarned the RSO in that bay that I would be doing this).
They do have memberships (see the website for all the details, of course). I calculated the costs of membership, and figured out that it would not save me any cash if I continue to go on Mondays and just shoot my own guns. I think the biggest plus to being a member is that if its busy and there is a wait time for an open lane you do get first priority… Or if you have an entire family that goes together, it might be beneficial to you, also (In my case its just myself and sometimes a daughter or two… who also shoot an hour free on Mondays, so it works).

Bottom Line: This is the best indoor gun range and handgun store in Clark County. Great place for women to purchase and learn how to use firearms.
The upstairs store has a really nice selection of handguns at very reasonable prices. They also have rifles and shotguns, but not as many. The prices meet or beat anything in the PDX area and many places on the web. The gun selection is weighed towards defensive/​tactical weapons with a heavy dose of the usual polymer framed — striker fired suspects. They don’t seem to have trouble stocking new or popular guns like the Glock 43. If you live in Washington and are looking to purchase a handgun, definitely check this place out. Top notch staff and help with gun selection and sales. The sales process, so easy and efficient. Much better than any of the gun stores in the PDX area. Nice selection of concealed carry handguns for women also and helpful female staff at the counter too. Nice selection of gun accessories and clothing, but not the kind of clothing that you would wear in King County. LOL Ammunition prices are OK but you can find lower prices at Bi Mart sales.
Downstairs is the gun range which really is state of the art and the staff here are just the best. I purchased a Silver Membership for my family the first week they opened from the owner herself. Nice lady from Camas. I am sure things were stressful for her the first month. There was a nice article about the owner and the range in the Columbian Newspaper (
). I have shot here 6 times since they opened and it is just a fun place to shoot. They do make you buy the targets from them which is a drag. They do have a nice selection of rental handguns. They will sweep up and give you your brass casings if you want which is really nice. The range fee is $ 20/​hour. The memberships are kind of pricey. From a straight range cost perspective, you have to shoot 3 times a month or more for the Gold Membership to save you money. However, if you shoot at peak hours, you may not be able to get a lane without a membership. I’ll probably upgrade to a Gold Membership next year. On their website
they have a lot of information on their fees and classes. They have discounts for military and LEOs. They don’t currently have the class required for Oregon CCW. I took one star off for the target issue and membership pricing.
If you are a woman looking to become proficient in handguns or just want to put some lead down range, this is the place for you. They have classes for women only and women’s days at the range. This is my wife’s favorite range ever and she has shot at a lot of ranges. Half of the staff are female and they know their stuff. Check it out.

Brand new indoor shooting range and firearms shop that opened on the edge of Camas and Vancouver border. I visited a couple weeks after they opened. The shop has a great variety of firearms and accessories to browse and purchase. I would say the best range of items I have seen in this area. The range is downstairs and seems to be run to very high standards. Safety protocols are on point and enforced professionally. The RSO’s are knowledgeable and helpful but not obtrusive. The range system itself is state of the art touch screen controlled. Noise control is excellent as well. I will definitely be getting one of their reasonably priced memberships.
My one suggestion would be to allow use of outside paper targets as that is currently not ok.
