Shave It

Hello. So. I’ll just get on with it.
I went in here yesterday, I believe around 2pm.
There were 3 workers there, one older woman I assumed to be a manager of sorts, she seemed to be telling the other two what to do and how to do it. so I figure she’s in charge.
We get to the counter and I order the usual rainbow sherbet and bubblegum ice, and I assumed my boyfriend would be getting something too.
When he said he wasn’t I was asking him if he was sure, and before he could answer the «manager-​in-​question» interrupted with a short, irritated «WHAT SIZE.»
So I said small.
I’m pretty friendly and it’s easy for people to be rude to me (although from a business standpoint, UNWISE to be) &&I felt like she kind of did just that.
When I asked my boyfriend if he was going to just share with me she interrupted AGAIN and cut him off.
«YOUR NAME?!?»
.Maddie.
Nothing else. No smile. No personality.
Just.make your order and get the hell out of my line is the vibe I got.
I don’t care to return anytime soon either… it discourages me when I run into rude people and terrible service.
As a part of the customer service industry myself. I’d never make one of my clients feel like an inconvenience.

This place was filthy inside and outside. The ice cream we got was old and basically ice. We will not come back.

The incident that I had with shave it is in the process of being taken care of, Arla the manager is great with responding to reviews and doing whatever it takes to make a customer happy again, SHAVE IT is so delicious! I couldn’t ever stop going.

I really wish I could write a nice review about Shave It, but I can’t after what happened. I’ve been to Shave It several times before and really liked it, both the shave ice and the employees. On ²⁄₂₂ I went in around 8pm and got a small shave ice to go, which is $ 3.85 and was helped by two younger guys. I paid and got my receipt but didn’t pay much attention to that and once I got my shave ice I left. The next day when checking my bank account I noticed I had been charged $ 8.35 for something that shouldn’t have been that much. Today I found my receipt and noticed there was a charge tip of $ 4.50 which I didn’t write. I really liked this place but I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon :(
Update!
Arla the manager contacted me right away today, and informed me that the employee was let go and was given a refund. I really appreciate how fast management got back to me and I’ll be heading back to Shave It soo!

It’s like this location doesn’t want to make money. Came on Thursday, ¹⁄₁₄ at 8pm to see the store closed even though advertised hours were 9pm. Against my better judgement, I decided to give them another try. I double checked the hours which now says 8pm. I’m outside of the store right now at 7:40pm and it is pitch black. Why do you even have store hours if you’re not going to adhere to them? Are you trying to implement winter hours? If so, you need to make sure it’s advertised so your customers know. What a frustrating and disappointing experience!

I used to really enjoy the treats and service at this location; this is no longer the case. In 3 of my last 4 visits, I have arrived at this location only to find that it closed early for absolutely no apparent or advertised reason. Once: fine. Twice: ok maybe I just had bad timing. But three times? That dog don’t hunt. The service I received during the last visit I actually made it through the door was marginal at best anyway, but having my business turned away for a third time has prompted a vow never to return. Too bad; place had potential, but it’s not worth the time or effort getting to this place, just to get back in the car and head home. This Shave It is a no-​go; don’t waste your time or money.

Yet again this location is closed earlier than its posted time. Really wish it was more consistent/​reliable. It’s not like we have a ton of dessert options in Camarillo!

So disappointed yet again. My family and I went to get a treat this evening only to pull up and find you closed early. I understand you probably closed early because of the rain. However, I feel it’s bad business. You can’t just open and close when it’s convenient for you guys. I’m not sure I’ll come back again. This is the second time this happened to us.

It was my first time coming to Shave It and it was pretty empty, maybe the cold weather? Lol. I decided to check out the place because I purchased a Groupon for $ 7 and got $ 12 to spend. I ordered the Jollie Lollie with an extra scoop of Oreo ice cream. It was yummy. Hawaiian shave ice is always my favorite. Glad to know this place is close to home. Coming back here next time to try out something from their, «Not so secret menu» on the counter.

Super duper YUMMY! The girl hooked us up with giant kids cups because we all couldn’t decide and didn’t want to share. So we loved them all!
My son loves the Spider-​Man! I loved my piña colada! And my daughter enjoyed the root beer float (not our fav but still tasty).
We enjoyed watching surfing while hanging out inside.

Love the Cinnabon flavor! The ice cream and shave ice mix is delicious! The price is reasonable and the store is clean. Highly recommend!

Helpful service that recommended some concoctions that my boys loved! Make sure to get the small size because they are huge servings.

Great customer relations and follow through by Arla. One extra star for that effort, but as a chef, an organic gardener and culinary teacher I have nothing good to say about your product purely from a health standpoint. I tried again after I used the gift card so graciously offered to me after the last dismal review I posted. I want to like what you do, but I just cant. It’s purely a lifestyle choice for me. Sorry.

Wow! My daugther and I went to Shave it too cool down from the heat outside and we were blown away by how AWESOME our experience was.
The staff gave us their time and attention, helped us design flavor combinations which utimately lead to the creation of what my daugther described as the «best snowcone» ever created, and we’re patient with my daugther endless questions. All of this while the store was busy and without missing a beat I watched them service everyone in a timely fashion.
What I found amazing was the service staff are kids and not staff veterans of five star dining. This really speaks to the management team at this Shave It. This shout out is to the management team «Keep up the great job.»
The last thing I have to share or rather confess is that I am not a snowcone type of guy, rather I am an ice cream man. Now I know there might be some «boo’s» coming from the reviewers at this point but please read on. Though their selection of ice cream does not add up to 31 flavors the selection is still plentiful and there is no denying that the quality is TOP NOTCH. Recommend their coffee ice cream!
We will defenitly come back and we are going to Simi valley this weekend and can’t wait to try out another location. Camarillo SHAVE IT you have set the bar for all other stores!

I purchased the Groupon for $ 13 for a $ 25 gift card back in February and hoped to use it at the closest location to me, which is Arcadia. Arcadia location closed in March. I had redeemed the Groupon for the gift card already. The locations are located in places I rarely go to, so when I finally came here this past weekend, I showed the cashier the gift card printout. She entered it over 3 times but the gift card wasn’t going through (it showed up, but the balance wasn’t showing a number). I didn’t use the card, and I doubt the gift card expired, but I can tell she was getting nervous and decided to give my ice cream orders to me for free for my troubles since they were already made.
Later on I emailed corporate (after scrounging through the entire website to look for a contact. it’s such an unorganized and unprofessional website, btw) to explain the situation. I asked if the gift cards expired, and if I could somehow deduct the $ 8.50 value I would have spent for the order from my $ 25 gift card; I felt bad the employee was unable to access the card
One of the founders, Lisa Kudirka, simply replied «They never expire.»
Wow. What horrible service. She didn’t bother researching my card to find out the issue and didn’t try to to resolve anything. I bet even when the Assistant Manager brought this issue up to her, Lisa brushed it off as well. I miss the nice Korean managers at the Arcadia branch; too bad it closed down :(
I brought this issue to Groupon and they refunded me most of what I paid. Oh well, I guess I got some free ice cream for it. It’s not this location’s fault but the poor functionality of the gift card, the unprofessional website (there should be a place to check gift card balances!) and the response from the Founder reflect on all the locations, unfortunately.
Fast service, clean store and delicious ice cream though. :D It gets crowded really easily so I would suggest partitions so other customers can walk through easily. Oh, and more accessible napkin dispensers please

I am not sure why shaved ice only seems to be popular in Hawaii! This place does a great job of bringing that island flavor back to the states. It is simple yet delicious!

My first time here! I got a caramel apple shaved ice, with ice cream on the bottom and the top, and green apple shaped ice, and caramel topping. Super yummy. My friend got a root beer float flavor, with ice cream on the top and the bottom, too. What fun to watch everything be made! And the people are really nice, even just before closing time.
And… The bathroom with amazingly clean. Good job guys.

Went in today with mother in law. Had a great time.
Only knock is how sticky entire floor was. It was the story of everyone in line. Sandels and high hills were sticking to the floor. My sandels are needing treatment. I never seen that bad and loud of sticky. Everywhere in the store!
However, great product. Great owner, great summer hours. I appreciate this place.

Pretty yummy and interesting. Not interesting in a bad way but I got the pot o gold. It had lime shaved ice and macadamia nut ice cream. It was packed in a little container but it was so worth licking off haha. I can’t wait to try more flavors (:

Interesting alternative to ice cream…
They offer a wide array of flavors and also give you a few pre-​chosen combos in case you aren’t feeling creative. Also cool, they have combos that change every month! You can even create your own and enter it to win the monthly pick.
The line definitely can be a little bit of a hang up. Besides that, I can’t really think of anything I dislike about the place. They even have free wifi!

The Guys on Labor day (around 5/​6pm) rocked it. Friendly and quick. Plus for being open on Labor Day.
I’m not much of a shaved ice fan, but their awesome Shave-​It Truck rolled in for a company event and I’ve been a fan of their’s ever since.
Erik and I visited the store on Labor Day for the first time and enjoyed Dave’s Big Stick– JUST like a Big Stick. I noticed a lot of different creamier options which were interesting. Snicker’s shaved ice? Say what? And the selection of Ice Cream was pretty cool.
Definitely returning sometime soon :)

I had a great experience here. My order was made fast and Chris was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming back in.
