History

Established in 2002.

My career in Residential Real Estate began in 2002 shortly after the dot com bust. I always had a passion for Real Estate and began selling Residential Real Estate on the Peninsula. About two years later I transitioned to Commercial Real Estate focusing on malls and retail stores. During this time I also began helping my church locate a new building for expansion. I decided to join the church full time to help with their endeavor to find a new facility. I worked with the church for five years before my husband and I began to grow our family. After the birth of our son I was fortunate to stay at home with him for 2.5 years.

After 2+ years in hiatus I had a renewed desire and commitment to return to selling Residential Real Estate on the Peninsula. I have been back in the business for over 4 years and am more excited than ever to help families realize their dream of owning a home. My highest endeavor is to help each of you obtain your Real Estate goals. I can’t wait to serve you!

I have lived on the Peninsula over 15 years and enjoy spending my spare time exploring the natural beauty that surrounds us, hiking, biking & running on the various Bay trails. I absolutely treasure spending time with friends & family. I enjoy learning & experiencing new things and love to study the Bible.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Francisco State University with a degree in Radio & Television. I enjoy the creativity of cooking and baking and the discipline and challenge of working out & staying physically fit.

I am an advocate of community service and volunteer at Belmont Vista Convalescent Hospital and help raise funds for California Youth Connection (CYC), an advocacy group for the Foster Care system. I also teach Sunday school at my family church. My favorite pastime, however, is spending time with my husband, Rob, and our son, Samuel.

Rica is a fantastic realtor. We cannot recommend her highly enough. In sum, Rica is professional, personable, knowledgeable, and respected in the field. She goes above and beyond for her clients in every way.
Right from the beginning, it was clear that Rica had a great depth of knowledge about the local market. She had a lot of patience and took time to explain even the most basic things to us. At no point was Rica ever pushy, as we were afraid a realtor might be. Rather, she was warm and genuine and really took the time to get to know us and our goals in buying a home. Rica offered excellent suggestions and ideas. Rica found us our dream home through a personal connection with another realtor. Not only is Rica extremely personable and knowledgeable about the market, but it also became clear to us that she is well-​respected by other realtors and also mortgage lenders. When we spoke to other realtors at open houses, many mentioned they had worked with Rica and ‘loved her’. When we called mortgage lenders we got similar responses.
Rica was extremely professional and responsive through every step of the home-​buying process. She was always available to answer our calls and emails. We had a difficult seller who was unresponsive and missed deadlines. Rica worked tirelessly to ensure things moved forward for us. Even after we closed, Rica continued to help us with referrals and other information. She also very kindly hosted a wonderful housewarming party for us. We feel very fortunate to have worked with Rica and her team and highly recommend them.

There are not enough stars here to portray how beyond excellent Rica and her team are. Our journey with Rica actually began at least two years ago. (If not more) We first connected with her through another agent. Rica was patient and understanding. At the begining we were not quite ready financially. We wanted to get a sense of what we ‘wanted’ vs. what we really needed. She initally suggested a condo, but we had our minds set on a SFR. Well, in our price range, that was not happening in the peninsula. Few existed, but they did not work for us; too run down/​too much work. A year had gone by and now we were expecting our first child. So finding a new home was put on the back burner. We put our heads down for a bit, adjusted to family life, and now had a larger down payment. Within the next 6 – 8 months of really looking and going to open houses, Rica and her team helped us to obtain a 2br condo here in the peninsula! We could not believe it. Her knowledge and strategy helped us to outshine the competition. As first time home buyers she made the process understandable, she was on top of everything, and she guided us through every step. I was a nervous wreck and she assured me all was well. To this day, she still checks in on us. I cannot express how that warms my heart to know someone with so much dedication to her work. (Which she so ROCKS at!) Thank you Rica Ruiz and team!!!

Rica Ruiz and her team were incredible. They made sure I understood the entire process and kept me apprised of how things were going every step along the way. They were considerate of my schedule and my needs and went out of their way to accommodate me. Their marketing of my property was first rate. Rica even made 300 calls and knocked on 100 doors to let my neighbors know that my condo was up for sale. The result is that I got $ 52K over asking. My condo received the highest offer of any other one bedroom condo in my complex. If you are thinking of selling, think Rica Ruiz!

I met Rica in one of the open houses I visited even though I was not ready to buy. She was very pleasant to talk to followed up with a free home buyers consultation to explain the process. Since I was not ready yet weeks went by before we met again but Rica was patient and answered all my questions during this period.
When I was ready to buy she was there for me every step on the way. We discussed the offer strategy and won the first offer I ever made. She helped me through the contingency process even involving another lender for a second opinion because the one I chose was not that great at explaining. When I had questions about the home inspection she referred a contractor to me to consult with on what is important and what not. When my loan company requested home owners insurance she referred 2 insurance agents to me, one of which got back to me within 10 min on a Sunday and helped tremendously getting this set up in the short time frame I had. Rica also referred numerous other specialists to me whenever I asked for them, from floor guy to electrician, even after closing. Getting the right contacts is so important and I really appreciate that Rica helped me with anything she could and she still does!
I recently had Rica over at my new place just to show her how everything turned out. I hope she liked it even if I still have not unpacked most of my stuff. I am a very level-​headed person, so much that Rica had to cheer for me when we closed the purchase :)

As so many of the reviews here relate, Rica knows the business, she has contacts for every need that might arise and she is indefatigable. We were hoping (and thinking it was a really long shot) to get our second home on the market and have the whole process completed in a month. Rica made it happen and believe me there were a lot of peculiar circumstances and issues to navigate and Rica just dealt with each bump in the road as it came along and forged ahead and made things happen. Whenever there was a decision to be made where we felt a little out of our element, we deferred to Rica and her advice always turned out to be for the best. We were able to sell the home for a considerable amount over the asking price. When you call Rica make sure you have your ducks in a row and are ready to do business because she will have things moving fast! Did I mention that she is sensitive, cordial, pleasant and great at taking the needs of all parties involved into account? Thanks, Rica!

If i could give Rica 10 stars, I would! Our experience with Rica in purchasing our second home was unbelievably proffessional and we would reccommend Rica to anyone who is considering purchasing a home in the bay area.
We came across Rica on Zillow and we also reviewed additional reviews on Unilocal,regarding Rica before we decided on proceeding with choosing to work with her. Rica, from the start, was very knowledgable about the area we were looking to purchase in and was very prompt in giving us comparables and guiding us through the offer process. We ultimately decided to purchase a short sale through an auction website, and were a little hesitant to do so. Rica stepped in and became intimately familiar with the process and helped ease our fears and was always very helpful in guiding us down the path where we would be most protected. Rica’s resp;onse time was unbelievably quick and she always was one step ahead on anticipating questions we might ask. Although the short sale and auction wasn’t a typical process (started in August and moved in mid-​October) Rica was there every step of the way, representing our best interest throughout the entire process. We would highly recommend Rica for any real estate transactions you are considering. We will definitely use Rica on our next real estate purchase.

I was referred to Rica Ruiz by a co-​worker about two years ago and thank goodness for her!
My husband and I had worked with several Realtor’s but they were not working out for various reasons (our price point was too low for them, they only serviced one area and we wanted to look at homes all around the Bay area, they had low to no energy or motivation etc.). We are first time home buyers so we had a lot of questions and wanted to look at a lot of homes, most Realtor’s tired of us quickly — but not Rica! We looked at what felt like hundreds of homes from San Mateo to the East Bay for many months. Two years later we have closed on our new condo and got an AMAZING deal thanks to Rica and her diligence! It was a short sale and had some ups and downs but Rica got us through it (and our many questions along the way).
I really appreciated the fact that she always available (I wonder if she ever sleeps?!) by text, phone, or email. She has a «go get em» attitude which is needed to find a home in this competitive area. Even after closing she still checks in to see how we are doing which adds that extra personal touch.
Finding a hardworking, patient and honest Realtor is so difficult (and often times depressing) and I am so thankful we found Rica! You can do no wrong by finding her too! She will find you your dream home!

We did a great deal of research in the process of finding Rica Ruiz; what
drove us to her was prior reviews stating how personable and efficient she
was. My husband and I were first time home buyers and wanted to ensure we
could trust our first investment to someone who was business savvy but
also had that personal touch to make us feel comfortable and in good
hands.
In our research work we had reached out to other realtors to see how fast
or responsive they were; we received one response two days later from a
relator who was referring us to someone else; but it was Rica who replied
the next day with a friendly and welcoming voice. Our price point was a
challenge considering our location, but regardless Rica took us on as
though we were buying a million dollar home ;0)
Throughout the process, Rica kept us abreast of properties we could
consider, she helped us reach out to possible sellers and responded to our
every email and voicemail within the hour or at least the same day. The
market for us was not only limited due to our price range but also because
we have a large dog. The inventory for condos that accepted large pets was
extremely restricted; therefore had our work cut out and the work for Rica
to make happen almost the impossible. As we began to bid on properties and
go through the frustration of getting outbid by cash buyers, Rica decided
to proactively reach out to one of the condominiums we liked and sent
letters to over 100+ owners hoping to entice a seller to consider us.
Although we did not get immediate responses, we did get sight of what
became the property we bought shortly after.
Rica’s efforts to go the extra mile to find sellers for us was very laborious but showed her tenacity to do wherever we needed to make things happen. Happily we ended up buying a condo in a location we loved and are very satisfied with our overall buying experience. We will happily recommend Rica for anyone who is looking for a reliable, responsive, smart and personable real estate professional. Also note, Rica will present when possible offers in person to the sellers; this is a practice that most realtors do not follow anymore, as this requires more work and preparation. Rica will do what she needs to put the best face forward and represent the buyers or sellers to

Rica is the person you want to go to when it comes to buying a house or
other real estate needs. She’s very professional, effective, responsive,
communicative, proactive, and takes care of all the details before you

She’s very dedicated to her job. We found our dream house at a very short
notice to her while she’s starting her vacation at Hawaii, she pretty much
put together the deal and the bidding process remotely from Hawaii while
on vacation. We felt very fortunate to have her represent us as she’s
always working for our best interests. We really appreciate her dedication
to help us getting our dream house in such short period of time without
any hicups.
