Randomly picked on Unilocal,called the morning of for an oil change that I needed to get done within two hours and was pleasantly surprised with amazing service and a very quick turnaround! I will definitely be going back for future maintenance services! Thank you!

I had a great experience with On Track Automotive the first time I visited, but unfortunately my second visit wasn’t as good.
My car needed new tires and I called the Toyota repair shop to find out how much it would cost me — they quoted something very high (around $ 400), so I called On Track. On Track quoted me at around $ 120 dollars to change the tires, so I made an appointment and went in. By the time they were finished, the bill was at almost $ 300, due to new charges like removing the old tires (that really wasn’t included in the initial quote??) and realigning the new tires. I would have been fine paying those fees if I had been told up front, but don’t understand why I was quoted low initially (besides to just get me in the door).
I prefer to support local businesses, but after this I’ll be back at the Toyota dealer. Perhaps this type of business works with some Burlingame residents, but I am just a local renter so unfortunately can’t afford to pay extra.

Avoid like these guys like the plague.
After reading all the positive reviews I decided to bring by a vehicle I was considering purchasing. I dropped it off with Mike and all he said that needed repair was the power steering reservoir. Thankfully his R 12 machine was broken and could not check why the A/​C wasn’t working. So he suggested bringing by Tony and Bob’s.
Tony immediately noticed that the air filter mount was broken. Upon closer inspection noticed much, much more was wrong (including some fairly obvious stuff Mike should’ve noticed) like a broken dipstick pipe leaking oil all over the bottom of the car, a broken gas gauge and the door locks were not working.
After voicing my concerns to Mike he agreed that they did not do the most thorough inspection and agreed to send me a check for $ 50 (half of the $ 100 for the inspection) and 2 months later I still have not received anything… hence my review.

I started using Mike & his team at OnTrack in 2001 after buying a Toyota Landcruiser. The Landcruiser, which now has 292,000 miles, continues to be serviced by OnTrack. It’s the little things they do: calling with a diagnosis before spending your money on a repair, asking my permission and driving my vehicle around to listen for the bad noises, telling me about big ticket repairs that are coming based on wear & tear observed, etc.

I found this business in Unilocal as my mom needed a smog check on her Mercedes. Coincidental she did need her service and her window did not work.
I had brought her car to the Mercedes dealership a few weeks previous, they were going to charge me an insane amount of money to fix it. I figured I’d give Mike a shot to take a look at it. At first, he found the same fault as Mercedes did. However, he found out that the problem could be more simple than what it was. He could have easily charged me for a big job, but he was gracious enough to let me know their was a cheaper alternative that he can try to perform before he goes into a bigger job. What was supposed to originally be a $ 1500-​$ 2000 job turned out to be only $ 275 after Mike fixed the minor problem.
He has the Mercedes equipment and programming tools that were necessary.
This is a great business, not greedy at all! It’s nice to have an auto repair shop that looks out for their clients and sets the right expectations.

Mike is awesome. The shop is clean and professional. I have had several mechanics for my BMW’s and Mike is really good. No other way to say it!
He knows Bimmers and will always go the extra mile to make sure your car is perfect. Even if he had to do extra work for FREE!

Our 1999 Tahoe needed it’s a/​c fixed so I made an appt online for a quote. It’s an older car and I didn’t want to fix it if it was gonna cost too much. Mike called to inform me of the cost every step of the way and ask if he should proceed. Other repairs that were needed were suggested, not just done automatically.
We had our car back after two days, and yes, we had them fix the a/​c.
Remember, you get what you pay for. Cars are an expense, not an investment.
Our family has brought several of our cars here and will continue to do so. Clean, fast and honest people that speak in layman’s terms and make you feel comfortable, you don’t find that in a lot of repair shops. Thanks again.

We are really happy with On Track Automotive. Mike is great to work with and is always friendly and honest. He is very fair and his team does a outstanding job! They are very thorough and get the work done fast. They stand by their work and we have been very satisfied.

I’ve been very satisfied by the service and quality of the work performed by On Track. I bring in my 2010 VW Passat probably a couple times per year for everything from routine oil changes to emergency car issues. Mike has been honest, timely, and courteous in all his interactions with me and my wife. He’s also shown willingness to go the extra mile to keep us happy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend On Track to be your go-​to car mechanic.

I’ve been going to this repair shop for 10 years and found them to be honest, fair and responsive but on my last vist in Nov 2014 it became clear things had changed. The previous owner (Bob) was excellent but he sold the business to one of his staff (Mike) last year and, in turn, Bob’s honesty, fairness and responsiveness has been replaced with the opposite.
Here’s my story/​take on the situation: Mike is not a bad guy, but he appears to be simply overwhelmed as the new owner. In early Nov 2104 I scheduled a smog check a week ahead of time and when I arrived Mike told me he forgot to call to tell me that he fired his smog check guy a few days prior. I expressed frustration but Mike assured me he could make of the necessary repairs to my car’s computer system that had resulted in the check engine light activating and thereby preventing the car from passing the smog check. Note that Mike was an employee there under Bob the first three times I brought my car in to have the same problem fixed and the car smogged so he was familiar with my car’s situation.
Mike tells me that he can permanently fix the computer with a new «MAP» sensor (barometric) and send me to the smog check guy he knows for the certificate. He tells me in person that the part will cost approx. $ 50. I say fine, return the next day but the bill is $ 200 for the part and $ 200 for labor. (Bob had put in a similar part (air sensor) 2 years prior for less than $ 200 total. It’s wrong (illegal actually) to quote a price for a part, neglect to provide an estimate to install it, and then turn around and without contacting the customer, quadruple the part cost and tack on $ 200 for labor for which an estimate was never provided. Feeling pinched for time to resolve the matter and get my car registered before the holidays I pay the bill, and am instructed by Mike to drive the car for 2 weeks and return to his shop to confirm all systems are clear before going for a smog check.
It only gets worse from here: 2 weeks later, despite calling 3 days ahead of time to confirm with Mike that he will be there when I return after the 2 week test drive, when I arrive at 9am not only is he not there but the check engine light is back on and his assistant says I need to talk to Mike to figure out what to do next. I’m told Mike will be back at 2pm and that he will call me first thing when he gets there. Of course he never calls. I call him the next day at noon (he failed to call me before then) and he tells me he cannot fix the problem and tells me to contact someone else with the necessary scanner and software that he now thinks is required to fix the problem.
Great, so I’m out $ 400 and told to bugger off. I express disappointment and all Mike can say is «that’s the way it goes with computer problems.» Game over. Unilocal review written.

Great Work & Service. What more can I say. Wouldn’t take my cars anywhere else. Mike explains what should or shouldn’t be done. He cares about his company and his customers. You just don’t find that a lot. My family are loyal customers for sure.

I have recently moved away from the area, and I am sad. Mike is an awesome guy, and he runs a top notch business!

I am actually pretty unhappy that I don’t work within walking distance of these guys anymore. They are by far one of the best shops I have ever been too. The manager doesn’t treat me like I don’t know anything, is very informative, provides a fare price, and pretty much works with a steady client base. I just sent a friend there recently and she loved them! For a woman to find a good auto repair shop where they doesn’t treat you like a child and sell you something you don’t need is hard to find. She loved the service and will be returning.

Friendly and responsive staff. Managed to keep my Mazda Tribute rolling until it was time to trade-​in for Subaru. Reasonable pricing and quick turnaround :-)

Been taking my trucks to Mike for over 15 years. Always fair, meaning you won’t get taken advantage of and on the other side it isn’t bottom of the barrel pricing.
I have moved from Peninsula to East Bay and still make an effort to drive to them for service. The odd times I need an oil change and can’t make it over the bridge I have regretfully gone to a dealer and often had a dealer say you must change X, Y and Z. Talk to Mike and he says he will look and most cases he says looks A Ok and wouldn’t do it if it was his truck. My 2002 Ford F 150 has 270,000 miles and I thank the On Track crew for always taking great care of me.

Sent in my 01 F-​150 to Mike to get an electrical issue fixed, brakes serviced, new shocks, and to order and replace a flat tire. Fair prices, very helpful customer service, quick, and most importantly they got the job done correctly. The truck runs great!

My husband started going to On Track about 10 years ago to have work done on his 65 mustangs. He just appreciated mikes knowledge and honesty.
Our family has 3 Hondas and one volt. Mike has been servicing our other 4 cars for about 4 years. He is very efficient and again knowledgeable. My main reason for going to On Track is his HONESTY. I am tired of other dealers taking advantage of me. He receives 5 stars from the Burlingame Kirchner Family!!!

Mike and his team care a lot about customer service. I came in initially to do an oil change and a check up. Turned out that the tires needed to be redone as well as a cabin filter change. Mike was very thorough with his team and they quickly did the oil change and replaced the windshield wipers while I was waiting.
The next day I came back to do the tires and the 90K check up. I mentioned how one of the wipers wasn’t working quite right, so they looked into it and actually replaced the entire wiper with a new one because they said it was defective. I knew I could have probably gone into Pep Boys to buy the wipers for much less, but I don’t think they would have replaced the wiper after in use, so I was actually glad that I changed them here. Chris drove me back home after I came to give me a ride (which I thought was really nice).
They finished the job with the new tires and filters. My husband was happy (I guess that’s what really counts) since this was his car that I was fixing. The pricing is not cheap (I think I could have gone to Costco for less) but overall Mike provided great service and was thorough. I think I would come back.

Very straightforward yet welcoming staff. I told Mike I needed a smog check and one of his mechanics came in to the room and things got started quickly but nothing felt rushed.
I was told it was only a half hour wait despite the organized mess of cars that littered the shop.
The waiting area wasn’t very fancy; it’s really just a table and four chairs. Things looked very plain but organized at the same time. If you’re used to flat screen televisions, leather couches, and complimentary coffee and donuts, then this place will make you cringe. I feel as though Mike understood the lack of amenities and suggested I down the street to il Piccolo Café (whose employees are very friendly too!). Extra points for not suggesting Starbucks :)
I came back about half an hour later and they had my car ready to go, parked right outside. $ 58.25 was the damage to my wallet and it was worth every penny.
