My parents were selling their home and needed home updates, general contracting fixes and repairs, upgrades and sewer lateral work. We contacted Javier at Gona Builders and he was prompt in getting back to us and assessing the project. After providing a detailed analysis of the cost and time it would take for each of the assignments, Javier and his team went to work and finished the project before the estimated time. Javier was quick to answer our questions when we contacted him and he offered complete transparency throughout the lifetime of the job. He is an honest man who treated his workers very well. We are very happy with Javier’s work and would recommend Gona builders to all.

My wife and I did a full condo remodel, including removing a load-​bearing wall, moving plumbing around, floors, lighting, electrical, tile work, the whole nine yards.
He has a great cabinet guy, Gonzalo, who did our entire kitchen cabinets, pantry and master bath vanities at competitive prices.
We were extremely pleased and our architect, who is based in SF, said to me one day, «Javier is one of the best I’ve seen.»
It took about a month longer than expected, which I suppose is par for the course as far as timing goes.
He had many good suggestions, was always up front and honest and took the time to explain our options — he’s just a good all around guy and his crew is solid as well.
Already recommended Javier to a couple of other friends.

What a pleasant surprise it was working with Javier Gona and his son Damian. After having had bad experience with contractors in the past, Javier and his crew of hardworking men were a breath of fresh air. About two years ago, Gona Builders gutted my home including tearing down a wall— all leading to the creation of a beautiful living environment. I now have a state of the art kitchen that opens out into the dining room, beautiful floors, custom closets, and new lighting and invisible speakers in every room. The men he works with are always the same so they are experienced and can be trusted.
He also works with an excellent designer to get you through the permit process. She is a busy mom that carries a tape measure with her wherever she goes. She came to my home and spent only 30 minutes taking measurements and that was the last I saw of her. Within no more than three days she prepared the technical drawings and submitted them to the SF permit office. All five permits were approved the same day.
If you enter into a contract with Gona Builders be prepared for the project to move quickly. Javier loves to cross off items on his long list of things to do. While the demolition is going on, he will take you personally to different vendors throughout the Bay Area to pick out appliances, tile, granite/​marble, lighting and flooring. He is pleasant to work with and gives helpful adivse on style and design.
On my project he not only completed the work within the time specfied but actually a couple of weeks sooner. In the contracting industry, that is unheard of.

I would highly recommend them for any job. Javier and his crew are amazing. These are stand up guys, honest, clean, respectful, hard working. They give you top notch work for a best rates, so there’s no need to negotiate too much in pricing. Damian gave me a fair itemized quote and work within my budget. They finished up the job exactly on the dates that they said, and let me pick out all my paint, counters, and fixtures so I knew exactly how much everything cost, and what would be going into my place. Doing renovations can be stressful, but Gona Builders made this experience very simple and stress free for me.
Thank you for doing such a great place on my condo! You saved me a ton of money and gave me piece of mind. There are not very many construction people that you can trust and I trust these guys completely. It’s a family run business and everyone works hard to make sure their customers are happy.
Remodeling doesn’t have to break the bank, or be a stressful experience.
