Just came here for a lox bagel on a jalapeño bagel. They were quick, nice and to the point. The ingredients inside the bagel were fresh and of good quality. The bagel itself did not taste so fresh. It was really hard. My teeth are still sore from eating it! Oh! And I didn’t get the jalapeño bagel I ordered. They didn’t charge me extra, so I didn’t feel the need to come back and let them know. If I even come back, I would probably try a croissant in hopes that those will be softer than those horrid bagels.

I have nothing but raving comments about this place! I needed 2 dozen bagels, 2 lbs of lox and 3 tubs of cream cheese for an early morning meeting for work and BAB delivered all of them. They were a hit! The bagels were fresh and delicious. It was soft, but had a nice chew without being hard. The lox were also very yummy. Everyone I spoke to on the phone when I ordered were so pleasant and kind. Most bagel places does not deliver, but they do, which is golden on my book!

Much better, more authentic of a bagel than the mushy ones from Noah’s. I don’t get the sandwiches — I like to buy a sack of bagels and a little container of cream cheese. This place used to be a House of Bagels but changed to BAB. Bagels taste the same to me though. They have this fig cream cheese that is to die for! Perfect on an egg bagel.

Bagels remind me of home: Queens, NY. I love the smell of freshly boiled bagels. I’m in love with the salt bagels. The lox bagel is near perfect. The only complaint I have is that sometimes they go a little crazy with the salt bagel and it’s basically crusted with salt. And the service is nonexistent. But if I’m looking for a well-priced, delicious lox bagel($ 8, versus the $ 13 lox bagel I’m used to paying in NYC), who cares about the service?

2 ½ stars… this place needs some nearby competition. I’ve been getting bagels here on and off for at least 25 years. There used to be a Noah’s half a block away; that was the only period House of Bagels rose to around a 4 star rating. Nowadays it has the feel of a cash cow business that’s just got lazy because it has something close to a monopoly in town. It’s not terrible; the bagels are good and the other sandwich ingredients are always fresh, but service and sandwich quality are way too variable. Some days they make near-masterpieces, other days it’s like they can’t cut bread. Weird and definitely a former favorite.

Great bialys and onion loaves. One of the best reasons to live in Burlingame!

So we walk in to order bagels and when I walk up to the counter I witness something … Interesting. The guy working in the back drops several bagels on the ground. He starts picking them up and dusting them off. I can’t see from my perspective where he puts them. I do not know where he put the half dozen bagels that fell on the floor. But I do know that he dusted them off.

So I have to say that I was skeptical of a bagel place randomly just south of the airport in a trendy little shopping area, but as a person who grew up eating bagels on Long Island… these were pretty good. Not New York bagels, but pretty close!

The bagels are the best and I grew up on authentic Brooklyn Bagels. The employees are excellent. Very hard working, always trying to make everyone happy. I feel like they are like the old corner grocery. I call up and they know my order and who I am.

Disappointed by their few choices of bagels… And by 3 pm, the breads look not fresh anymore when they should be retaining its freshness not just first thing in the morning

Tried to buy bagels at this store on a recent Sunday. The posted store hours on Sundays are 8am to 2pm. It was 1:30pm, and the front door was locked. I knocked on the door and indicated that I wanted to buy some bagels. The woman in the store just looked at me; I knocked again, and she shook her head ‘no’. Then her co-worker came to the door and said ‘No bagels left’. There were plenty of bagels left, and I said that I would buy a dozen. He shrugged and walked away. Tried to contact the owner, but no one ever answers the phone. Never patronizing this place again.

My bagel was okay maybe I’d give it three stars. I thought«well I guess I’ll go back to try something else because they’re very affordable.» However, my coffee scalded my tongue so that my taste buds on the top are gone for the day. I then spent five minutes with my coffee on the roof of my car trying to cool it down in the wind. Finally just couldn’t get it cool enough to even stick my finger inside, so I decided to go back in the store. I waited in line patiently and when I finally got my opportunity to tell the woman, she was rude to me! She blamed me and said I don’t know how to drink coffee. I told her I drink coffee every morning from many different establishments. And that I wasn’t mad at her, why was she mad at me? I just wanted to trade this coffee in for a cool beverage. Anyway she was extremely rude to me in front of the other customers and I said to her that this was my first time ever in this restaurant. After all of that negative behavior, when all she had to do was replace a drink without choosing rudeness, and I felt their bagel was so so – I never see myself returning.

You can’t beat Bay Area Bagels. I’ve been coming here since I was in elementary school(it used to be house of bagels). Still great service(always with a smile), great tasting bagels and spreads. I’ll always love my dark toasted sesame bagel with chive cream cheese.

The bagels are good and they have a nice selection. They usually give you a decent amount of cream cheese(I hate nothing more than opening my bagel only to realize there is hardly any cream cheese on it). Their coffee is even worse than Noah’s, and that’s saying a lot. It’s completely undrinkable. I actually poured it out the one time I bought some. Now I just walk over to Peet’s. But they offer a bunch of bottled drinks, and I come here for the bagels not the coffee, so they still get a good rating from me.

Bagels are not bad but last Saturday they were out my favs, the garlic ones and when I asked about them, all I got were shrugs. Every time I’m there it seems like no ones in charge and orders take forever. I bought some bagels, lox and grabbed their cream cheese with chives and rushed home. After preparing the bagel I noticed a strange taste, the cream cheese was sour. This is bad as they don’t have dates on their packages so the employees don’t know what to toss. Since there is no other alternative except for the House of Bagels in Mollie Stone’s, I’ll just have to be careful the next time I’m there.

This place is top notch. My bagel was made exactly like I anticipated. So deliciously toasted to perfection with chive cream cheese loxs and sprouts. Wish I had more the share with my pictures. I guess I was too hungry to begin with and began scarfing as soon as the soft, crusty doughy creation touched my fingertips

I have recently gotten a thing for bagels… Well, glad to get my breakfast at BAB. I was happy with the scrambled egg bagel. Typically busy in the AM! But you gotta expect it.

Living in NYC for over four years has completely ruined me! I could get a Fab toasted everything bagel with egg and cheese for approx two bucks, give or take a quarter… Anyway, back to Bay Area Bagels, best bagels in the area(San Mateo/Burlingame), but still lack luster. Literally !!! East coast bagels always have this amazing sheen. As for the sheen test, BAB receive a C because the bagels were actually slightly glossy. Still stay to my tried and true, everything toasted with egg and cheese, yum!

Lox & Bagel? Yes please. I came here for a quick breakfast before venturing out to Napa Valley. And of course since I was in the Bay Area, Lox & Bagel is what I got. This place is conveniently located right next to the Burlingame Caltrain station, which I would definitely go if I needed to grab a quick breakfast and be on my merry way to work or whatever activity. Sadly though, I don’t live here so I can only dream. Walking in, it gave me a feeling of a quick deli. The menu was a little extensive, so it takes some time to decide on what delicious options you could choose from. What came loaded on my bagel was well a good amount of things, because well I usually load everything up on what I eat because I want to experience it on a whole level. I’m not picky! If it mixes well then I’ll be sold! It came with tomato, sprouts, cream cheese, and onions. So what’s the overall verdict? Definitely would come back here if I get the chance. Or I would venture and try something different, but I doubt it. It was quick, cheap, and delicious. Nothing more I would ask for.

Geez, the service here is a little sad. I got a straight face, I placed my order and said, «Thank you» with no response. The bagel is just ok, a bit chewy and $ 3 for cream cheese is a total jip.

Nothing special. I came here at around 10:30 am on a Saturday because all of the other breakfast places were packed. There were maybe 2 people waiting to get their bagels. First off– way over priced. For $ 5, I can go to Safeway & buy their fresh bagels, avocados, & cream cheese. Second– The bagels are tiny, why are they so overpriced? Third– We waited 15 minutes for our bagels because there was one person making them. How hard is it to do smear cream cheese & avocado on a bagel? Fourth– The vitamin waters cost $ 4! What? That’s a rip off. I get it’s Burlingame, but that doesn’t mean anything needs to be overpriced. Next time I’ll just go to Doc’s bagels & get a delicious bagel or a ¼ of the price & time.

Now that House of Bagels closed in San Mateo, I finally tried their bagels. I got whole wheat and chocolate chips. I really like the texture! Noah’s Bagels is closer to me, but when I want a bagel, I want a bagel, not bread with a hole. I will def. go back there for bagels. Even whole wheat one is nice and doughy. I am so glad I finally tried!

A surprise — that’s been here for the past 3 years. It’s your regular amazing bagel establishment with an assortment of bagels and speciality bagels. While there’s a lot of choice — I would stick to the basics as they so that well. The more complex sandwiches look not so appetizing — grilled chicken on the bagel? The holiness of a bagel is insulted by such an idea. Definitely will go back here for bagels — probably not the coffee.

They have pumpernickel bagels. That is a big plus for me. They toasted and buttered it for me and well it was a bit tough and rubbery. oh well — the search for the perfect pumpernickel bagel continues.
