History

Established in 1984.

Starts at a small corner of laundromat in San Mateo, we’ve work long hours to maintain our lowest price and best quality dry cleaning and laundry services.

our business improved day after day and we start to own our own plant at the second location in downtown San Mateo, 1986. our business kept growing and we expended to 4 locations at Burlingame and san Carlos with 2 plants.

we’ve learn and improve for the past 29 years, only 1 thing we didn’t change which is, customer are always right, we don’t argue with customers, we fix problems, we paid for mistakes we made, we kept growing until 10 years ago, we decide to keep 1 location which located in Burlingame to concentrate provide best service.

we’re still keeping our goal to serve our community the best quality dry clean and laundry.

Took my jacket in to get altered. The lady there working was very nice. She had me put my jacket on and from there she took her measurments on exactly how much i needed altered to fit me. Came in a week later to pick it up my jacket and it was perfect. I can say they did a great job! Will come back if i need any alterations done.

I always come here for dry cleaning and W&F, and even turned to them once when I had an incredibly challenging clean with the dreaded mold!!! The staff has always been very courteous and Helen is particularly nice, charming, and funny. I have no issues with the quality of the cleaning, or the prices, but what keeps me coming back are the people that work there. Dry cleaning is dry cleaning, but Helen makes me laugh.

I have my towels washed and folded for my business. Some days are super busy and I realize my towels are down to one. I always rush over to A-​1 to see if they can do miracles and with a smile Helen agrees. sorry Helen for giving you such a hard time… but I appreciate you i love seeing my towels wrapped neatly in this turquoise paper because it gives me a sense of relief because my towels are clean, folded and ready to go for another work day. I can’t tell you how many times Helen has saved me and she’s such a gem about it. They’re too reliable and so kind every time and I can’t help but just go here. I’m too spoiled now

The staff sets this place far apart from the rest of the dry cleaning establishments. It’s like stepping into a sunny place when you walk in. Someone always greets me by my name, they accommodate my schedule for having my items done when I need them, and their seamstress is tops. I used to dread going to the cleaners, but Helen (the owner) knows it’s all about service, and she has hired a wonderful staff who share her passion to be friendly, courteous, and do the job right the first time. I would highly recommend is place. I can only give 5 stars, but I would give more if I could.

I have been coming to A-​1 for 8 years! Always greeted as if I were the queen of England AND they do an amazing job on everything. I’ve had some crazy stains on things and they get them out! I have all my alterations done there too, they are much more reasonable than a tailor. Everything is done quickly and they have rush services if you need something sooner.
If you haven’t tried A-​1 yet, DO! You won’t be disappointed.

Every time I walk I am greeted by Helen, always a smile on her face and the service I receive is first rate, if I need same day service… DONE…I wear a lot of Tommy Bahama shirts and they always get them clean (little messy sometimes. lol). Prices are very good, but the service is outstanding…

I’ve been coming here for over 2 years. Stuff are very friendly, service is great, they are walking distance from my place, but I keep getting my clothes marked with numbers. I told them about it and I thought they stopped doing until I found the marks in a different spot. Is this suppose to be ok?

Indistinguishable from others except for the price! To be fair, I tried to compare this place to the others by taking the same exact work clothes as some fellow Unilocalers have suggested. Judge for yourself and do the same thing and you’ll never come back here.

Q. Why did the chicken cross the road?
A. To poop on my brand new Trina Turk.
Well it may not have been a chicken and it wasn’t poop but instead it was an oil stain from a very slippery piece of bruschetta that ever so gracefully decided it would fall and land squarely on my lap (staining one of my favorite dresses).
Three days later, that (what could have been chicken poop) stain is all gone and that awful memory erased from my brain forever.

I was in dire need of same day dry cleaning. I live around the corner from here and figured they were the quickest and easiest solution to my dry cleaning problem.
Dropped off a gang load of gear for same day service and when I returned at 5 everything looked good. Very nice ladies clearly busting hump to get our gear cleaned up so we can look sharp. I definitely have a new dry cleaner b/​c the other one I was using, directly across the street, seems not to understand the concept of time. I will say that $ 3 a shirt is a bit steep, but i think that’s simply because of the same day service.

My dealings with a1 was not good. Yes I think there a little high priced, but sometimes you get what you pay for. I did not find that to be the case. I wrote a bad review that Unilocal removed. They said no content. I was not going to run down your business to everyone and tell them what you did but, Unilocal wants me to spell it out. Ok, I’m the one

This is now our regular dry cleaner and we love it. They are very accommodating and seem to be able to handle anything (stains, torn shirts, holes in sweaters).
Before we went here we went to Primrose Cleaners (on the other side of Burlingame ave) and it was a DISASTER. Plus, just by walking in the door you can tell they have no clothes hanging on their spinning things because they have no customers. A1 is always full of clothes and on Saturdays the place is hoppin with everyone picking up and dropping off.

Well my Unilocal crush keeps finding Trojan condom wrappers stuffed in her mailbox, flirts with random stranger guys on BART and what is the deal with the carrot shavings and caviar I continue to find in between the sheets? And why am I only considered a «Yelp crush?»
Problems right?
If your problem only happens to be messy sheets you can remedy and fix that by dropping them (and the rest of your laundry) off here. These people are fantastic and do a bang up job! heh, I said «bang». You need same day service? No problem, just drop your wash here in the morning and return later that same afternoon and pick them up. Your laundry will be spotless, folded and ready to put away.
