Have had good experiences with our Toyota, including basic maintenance and putting on new tires (they accepted delivery from Tire Rack). They treat you with respect, take time to answer questions, and gave me a ride back to the house while I left the car. Will return, especially in comparison to my experience at the local dealer.

Solid. They don’t try to upsell you from your oil change to also replace your carbahalooza or fix your waddamaginga that you didn’t even know you had, much less needed to maintain. Not to say they aren’t comprehensive; if something other than what you came in for is starting to go they’ll tell you, they just won’t try to convince you you’re putting your life at risk if you let it go 6 months. They’ll even let you know how long you can safely let it go or cheaper ways to fix it than the standard protocol.
It’s like you have a trusted cousin who is a car guy who gives you the straight dope and a good deal every time. No wonder all the locals rave about these guys.

Nothing but good things to say about KC Automotive. Took my minivan here just before closing on 18 Nov and returned 19 Nov after lunch. I spoke to KC who was incredibly nice and informative and seemed more concerned about my safety and my concerns than making a buck.
I had originally taken my vehicle to Cardinal Plaza in Springfield two weeks ago (had to be towed) late at night. Chose Cardinal simply because it was closer to my house. Big mistake. $ 1,200 for a radiator and hose replacement (radiator was $ 450). 2 weeks later, my engine was overheating — again. Called KC Automotive based on user reviews and spoke directly with KC. I explained to him my previous incident and asked if the thermostat had been replaced when Cardinal changed the radiator — no. I brought the vehicle in and sure enough, the thermostat was bad from the previous incident which should have automatically been replaced. To make sure I wouldn’t break down again, KC and team went the extra mile to clean the engine and check for any coolant leaks (none). KC was great in explaining everything.
Reasonable price, great service, and cares about the customer. Will be taking my vehicle to KC’s in the future if I ever need any more service repairs done. Totally trust KC.
As a side note, similar to Cardinal Plaza, KC Automotive offers a free shuttle service when you drop your car off which was very convenient.

Went there with a fairly tricky problem with my older model Lexus. This was after a not so pleasant experience at another shop just down the street. (They didn’t seem to want ANY business)
This was the first time I had been to KC Automotive and they have won a customer for life. John kept me informed of the diagnostic process and pricing, kept me updated on the progress, didn’t try to upset me on 100 other things that you might need in a car with 167,000 miles on it.
I’d highly recommend this place!

With so many dubious repair shops around, it’s a rare and wonderful thing to find a trustworthy, competent shop with a friendly staff. The mechanics have always been straightforward and honest with us, do great work, and are easily accessible. When our grocery-​getter recently failed state inspection, rather than recommending a bunch of unnecessary work to charge us out the wazoo, the mechanic kindly suggested retiring the car due to the dangerous degree of rust damage to the frame. Highly recommended.

Let me begin by saying this is my second visit here for an oil change on my sedan. Excellent customer service, quick and quality service, first come first serve, free shuttle service to and from home depending on the distance, clean waiting area and restrooms, decent amount of parking to leave your car, quality oils or you can pick whatever you want (they’ll order it if it’s not in inventory) and finally, they’re absolutely trustworthy and keep their word. The gentleman at the register in the mornings is very friendly and polite. He will explain everything you need to know. The oil changes come with inspections of all fluids and changing of oil filter. So glad I found these guys at the Shell filling station. Who would’ve thought of this hidden gem here? I will return for automotive needs. I recommend them! I also heard they’ve been around for nearly three decades.

This neighborhood station has been around since I was a kid. My dad used to take his cars here and now I take our cars here. The mechanics are helpful and honest. They have late night drop off and you can call them for honest advice. Unlike most of the neighboring gas stations, this place won’t take you over the coals with unneeded repairs or high pricing. They also sell Shell gas so you can use your Giant points for a small discount.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I have been a half dozen times or so to have repairs done on my vehicles. Every time I have left without the feeling of being taken to the cleaners, so to speak. I don’t remember the last time I have visited a shop, even for an oil change, where I «needed» several things replaced so they say, not here. I just had a lower steering shaft replaced on my truck and not only did they call me 4 times to keep me apprised of every step they fixed it same day and even charged me less than the quote! What? When has that happened? Thanks John and KC, I don’t hope to see you soon but when I need something repaired I’ll be back.

So excited to find a reputable, and reasonable auto shop so close to home! I had a go to guy for years and he sold his shop. I dreaded having to find a new one but not as much as I dreaded the thought of going back to a dealership for repairs… so to find an honest shop, referred by a friend, that will tell what the must do vs the nice to do when the budget allows is awesome! Thanks John for your honesty and willingness to work around our needs!

Honest mechanic that provides quality service. I’m definitely a KC fan.

This is not the place to go if want an oil change and you’re in a rush or if you’re looking for service with a smile. In fact, this may have been the slowest oil change I have ever experienced. Close to two hours with only one other car ahead of me when I arrived. Pretty pricey, $ 45 for a standard no frills oil change. However, they do a good job without trying to sell you all sorts of upgrades. Bring a good book (or two).

Being the daughter of a mechanic its hard to really trust anyone else. After moving to the area I needed someone could trust. So when I brought my luxury truck in for some work KC looked at me and told me to get rid of it because it was a money pit. They don’t get more honest than that. Now that I have moved again my search begins again.

When you live in the burbs, it’s a requirement to have a nearby mechanic! This is the place! KC Automotive has been around since the early years… There is actually someone there who is named «KC», not sure if he’s the original dude, but he exists. We love coming here when we need an honest opinion. We come here for oil changes, inspections and ‘minor repairs’. I needed to find a place to look at a used car that I was considering to purchase. The car was ideal for me, snazzy red Volvo Convertible! Price was too good to be true! Well low and behold, the guys at KC did find some bad problems, told me things I would never even imagine about this car. If you need another opinion or need a place to drop off the car, this is your place! For oil changes and inspections, you can always leave it over night.

What a fabulous little hidden auto shop! KC Automotive is nestled right inside of the Citgo near the Burke Village shopping center, and I had a wonderful experience with them getting my state inspection taken care of. After driving around to 2 other places… with an expired inspection sticker… oops… and getting ridiculous time quotes for how long the inspection would take, I finally was led to the Citgo and, thus, KC.
I should probably mention that one of the places I went to was the Merchant’s right down the street, who quoted me a 2.5 hour wait time. My car is exactly 1 year old and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, so that seemed a bit extreme. So what was the wait that I endured at KC? Why, maybe 15 minutes. Maybe. AND they were super friendly and efficient — 15 minutes and 16 dollars later, I was back on my way.
I probably shouldn’t even be writing this review because I don’t want anyone else to know about this place so I’ll never have to deal with wait times, but, alas, as CM of this great NoVA nation, I feel it is my personal responsibility to share the wealth. You are all welcome.
I’ll definitely be back to KC for my inspection next year — but hopefully not before then, because, as mentioned, my car is still but a baby, and having to take her in would probably be a bad sign, hahaha.

Honest, customer oriented, great repair work and they notify you of options and cost estimates. Long time customer.

So finding a decent mechanic, who is honest, knowledgeable, doesn’t try and make stuff up and over charge money for things, AND even more important to me is not an all around A hole is not easy to say the least. So when I moved to Burke, VA in Fairfax County and found this place 6+ years back it was a great day!
KC has always been a joy to work with. He is honest and does NOT push fixes that cost more, but may not add value. He always takes ALOT of time to explain the issues and the multiple options, not just ‘do this for x’. And always works to make sure you understand, are comfortable and also provides great value.
He always beats the prices I get at other places or dealers by quite a bit which is a great plus, on top of being an honest easy to work with good guy. Example — he recently beat the dealer price on front and back brakes by 35−40%!
I moved, but I still now go 35 minutes across town for the reliable honest and cost effective service.

Finding a mechanic that you can trust can be nerve wrecking. You can trust these guys. They are going to tell you what you need and what you don’t. Best prices on gas in the Burke area too!

For the past 10+ years KC’s has been the place for our cars. They are reliable, honest, prompt, reasonable. Women friendly-​definition they treat everyone the same. I have had car problems that I could of and probably would have been taken advantage and ripped off anywhere else. Not at KC’s.
They are wonderful. I recommend KC’s. I will always use KC’s Old Car– New Car. They know there stuff.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a place you could take you car where…

They are friendly?
They are honest?
There is and it’s KC Automotive. I highly recommend them. Been taking all my cars there for about 3 years now. Taking my car to the shop is no longer full of stress!
