UMe Credit Union

This is my bank, being from burbank i chose this bank because it felt really nice knowing everyone in the bank and just feeling comfy. They are pet friendly and kid friendly.
Which is awesome!
They also have great interest rates and different financing options:)

the worst… nothing works.
nobody knows anything.
passwords stop working every few weeks and they blame you!
never follow up on what they promise and they blame you!
people answering phones give out wrong info and they blame you!
website is a mess, no access, must be my fault.
want my tax returns for a small car loan! really?
3 accounts there but only 2 show up online? why? nobody knows…
i thought i hated chase but — surprise! — chase is way more efficient!!!
i could go on but i have already spent way too much time on ume.
so i will just move on — google for many credit unions in the area.
this place is not ready for prime time!

Great service! Best credit union in Burbank! Very helpful. Do yourself a favor and ditch big banks for a credit union! Lower rates, no bs fees. Now you can use the atm at any credit union or 7 eleven for free! sometimes I’m out of town and I even deposit checks at other credit unions!

I am given it 1 star but would love to give it zero star this place sucks there always having computer issues and your shit out of luck getting your direct deposit and of course they don’t care not friendly everyone there is rude not compassionate nor professional maybe they should take a class on professionalism every time I go the tellers are always talking to each other and they ignore the customer they always run out of envelopes at the atm and there is always a atm down the atm machine is slow and only allows you to do one transaction at a time I’m gonna look for another bank

I have mixed feelings about UMe. I LOVE them, don’t get me wrong, great customer service, have never had an issue with ridiculous charges, generally they are very helpful. BUT, by leaving one of the big banks (which I was happy to do) there are a few things you must sacrifice.
— The ATM locations aren’t as convenient. I am lucky to have a few local to where I live, but when I am on the road or away from my living area it’s more challenging to find one, and the app doesn’t always refresh/​search for ATMs when you ask it to, leaving you clueless as to where to find an ATM. I remedy this by withdrawing cash at my local ATM before I will need it which works most of the time.
— When you use your debit card as credit, the debit takes a few days to reflect on your account leading you to believe you have more money than you actually do, this has gotten me into a sticky situation a few times because I was used to my charges posting to my Bank of America account immediately. I have started to keep track of my spending in my «notes» app on my phone. It helps, but it would be nice if Ume could figure out some way to make pending transactions post quicker — even on my credit card they post immediately as «pending,» so I really don’t understand why they can’t do this, one would think it’s a simple technology upgrade, and considering we live in a society now that ONLY uses debit/​credit cards I would think this would be a priority.
— Depending on the time of day your wait time on the phone can be long since they are a small branch with only a few people answering the phones. Again, small bank, this is to be expected.
You need to give them a heads up when you go out of state, too. I learned this when I went to visit my family in NYC and tried to use my card on a Saturday, and couldn’t. I had to wait til Monday to call them and tell them to approve my card for use in another state.
These all sound like bad things but they are merely luxuries that I was used to having with a big (evil) bank, and despite the fact that these little things can sometimes irk me (depending on my mood!), it’s worth it to stick with a small Credit Union that’s not trying to screw me over the way that the big banks do.
I do like UMe and I plan on sticking with them for a while, I just think it would be nice if they could work on upgrading a few things technology wise. But aside from all of that, I have received great customer service and never once felt like I was being taken advantage of.

Treated like a criminal here. Some account information was stolen from me and used for something shady… I had no idea what had occurred until I came in to make a deposit, when I was asked to close my account because of actions completely beyond my control… I’m surprised I wasn’t escorted out by armed guards. One of the women took it upon herself to personify FBI special agent; what a bitch. You’re not saving any lives here and beyond that, I didn’t do anything wrong to begin with! Disrespect all the way around. I’ll stick to the corrupt corporate ucks, thanks guys!

What is wrong with your mobile app and online banking today– I can’t access my money :-/

Best bank ever! I have been banking here since 1990 when they were known as Burbank Federal Credit Union. When they moved to new locations, I followed. Now a new name and new look but same great customer service. Nothing like the terrible service you get now a days from the big banks. Everyone should bank here no matter how far away they live.

I had a TERRIBLE time finding a bank who was knowledgeable about opening a Coogan account. Not the case here. After talking to whomever it was that answered the phone, I immediately emailed my daughter’s agent, and told them this is the place they should be recommending. Not Chase who doesn’t even do it, and not Wells Fargo, who requires your child to have a project they’re working on. Which is DUMB, because you can’t get a project until you have a Coogan account! This Credit Union knew ALL about it, told me it would take 45 mins to an hour, but it only took 30 mins! Thank you UMe I wish I would’ve discovered you weeks ago!

I have been a customer of the UMe Credit Union for over twenty-​five years and have always received great service. The staff is considerate, friendly, and helpful. I also really appreciate their online banking options.

I don’t think I have ever reviewed a place lower than 4 or 5 stars except for today and I’m not happy to do so either.
I came in last week to make a credit card payment. Was greeted when I walked in, like always. Made the payment in about 2 mins.
When making the payment I had a question about my credit card (I have a secured credit card which is pretty much a debit card but counts towards my credit, it’s how I started building my credit) I had only 1 question which I’m pretty sure anyone could have answered but no one did or gave me the chance to.
I asked, «So when will I be able to upgrade to a regular credit card?»…that’s it… that’s all I wanted to know. I asked the teller the question and she responded with, «You can definitely sign in and a personal banker will be more than happy to explain to you your options.»
I don’t know why she couldn’t have answered the question but then again maybe she didn’t know or she’s not suppose to answer questions like that… who knows
So I sign in with the lady at the front desk and then I take a seat…
25 mins later… the lady at the front desk says, «oh my gosh you’re will here waiting? I’ll have someone help you out as soon as possible, it will only be another 5 – 10 mins tops.»
Another 20 mins later (now 45 mins of me waiting) a personal banker walks over to me and apologizes for the wait and has me come in. I promise you I only spoke to him for about 30 seconds, and our conversation went something like this…
Personal banker: «Hello! Sorry about the long wait, how can I help you?»
Me: «No worries, I just had a question about my secured credit card.»
Personal banker: «Sure! What’s the question?»
Me: «So when will I be able to upgrade to a regular credit card?»
Personal banker: «Well when did you sign up for the secured credit card?»
Me: «Mmm I believe in April 2014.»
Personal banker: «Ok! So a year from that date.»
Me: «So in April 2015 I can apply for an upgrade and receive a regular credit card?»
Personal banker: «Yep! You’ll most likely be approved if you’ve made all monthly payments for a year!»
Me: «Yeah I’ve made every payment.»
Personal banker: «Great! So then you’ll get approved!»
Me: «Oh alright.»
Personal banker: «Anything else I can help you with today?»
Me: «No, that was it, thank you.»
Personal banker: «Absolutely! Thank you for coming in!»
It was a frustrating situation. I don’t understand why either the teller didn’t know this information, or can’t discuss that information or just wanted the line to keep moving… either way I left extremely unhappy all because I had to wait 45 mins to ask a simple question.

If you want a reliable and efficient bank service, this is not the place for you. If you want a treat jar and friendly smiles or whatever, then go for it.
I would close my account today but it’s closed on Saturdays. Which is inconvenience #1.
Inconvenience #2 = Online banking and app are ridiculous. The website is down or glitchy quite often, and there is little to no phone support outside of the branch’s office hours
Inconvenience #3 = Crappy ATMs. the idea of being able to use 7 – 11 ATMs sounds appealing at first, until you have to actually walk in and use one. The machines often lack the functionality you need, or they’re just sketchy.
Inconvenience #4 = inefficiency. Transaction times and updates are slow.
The branch entices members with a modern/​sleek looking branding, but what you get is service that is light years behind everyone else.

UMe. U + Me = The Greatest Credit Union in all of the land! Ever since moving to Burbank, California, my fiancé and I have been banking with UMe and it has been fantastic! It is so nice to not deal with the major banks. UMe gives your that personal touch that his been lost. They’re so attentive and helpful whenever you come in to make a deposit, withdrawal, ask a question or open a new account. I cannot recommend UMe enough!

A++ for UMe Credit Union. I never knew I could *love* a financial institution/​bank.
I often have unique situations with my business account, dealing with many different clients from large corporations to individual human beings — it’s been great knowing I have UMe to count on. As a customer, I always feel that I’m their priority — on the phone, or in person.
As a side note: Their ads are clever, which I appreciate in a world that is constantly dumbing-​down messaging. While the branch is always clean, and the staff is friendly and accommodating.
I really hope they grow as an organization! This credit union is unique; They truly stand out in service and in aesthetic. Kudos to them!

After opening up a business bank account. My business partner and I were assured to have our cards 7 – 10 days after opening the account. It took actually a month, and i gave the benefit of the doubt about the bank so waited. I grew impatient and had to go inside myself to discuss the situation that we havent received our cards. Anyways i sat down with a female employee that i forgot to get the name of and she assured me we will have our cards within 7 – 10 days guaranteed. So hopefully our cards come in finally.

Went to use their Surcharge Free ATM to get cash at UMe this morning. I’m a member of a much larger, friendlier, community oriented Credit Union in Burbank — Logix FCU, so I was able to use their Co-​Op ATM.
Got cash no problem and went inside to break a $ 20 (2-​$ 10’s).
After waiting in line for about 5 minutes, the teller advises me that they won’t be able to break a $ 20 for me because I am not a member of UMe! I would understand if it was a large sum of money, but this is «Pocket Change» so to speak.
So much for being a «community» credit union. Thankfully Handy Market was able to break it for me.
I’m proud to be a member of LOGIX. For those out there considering UMe, consider switching to «Logix — Smarter Banking».

I previously wrote a negative review to this bank because I had a pretty horrible experience with them. I was contacted by one of the Vice Presidents of the company through Unilocal and was asked to give them a call if I wanted to. I almost didn’t, but I am glad I did because I feel a lot better about the situation now.
I spent a bit of time speaking to two of the Vice Presidents of the company who were horrified to hear about my experience with their company. They were extremely apologetic and wanted to make my situation right and told me it definitely should have been handled differently.
I wanted to change my initial review because the experience I just had was a complete 180 from what I experienced the other day. They assured me that if I wanted to bank with them in the future they would make it their personal goal to make sure that my experience was great there.

I was sucked into joining this credit union by it’s great logo design and other people’s glowing reviews, but I keep finding more reasons to dislike this institution. It is only good if you live really close to it and have a cushion of cash while they take their time.
1. I have only come across 1 atm at ⁷⁄₁₁ in Los Angeles that I can deposit checks into so far. all the others I can only get cash out of. Also the fact that I can’t deposit cash into it is irritating. There really aren’t many credit unions in Los Angeles that they share with and those all have annoying limited hours.
2. The app for the iphone doesn’t work and isn’t good, but they keep pushing it.
3. They are closed on Saturdays and only have mom hours.
4. You can’t update your address from their website or over the phone. You have to print out a form and mail it or fax it. This is really inconvenient.
5. The new interface is ugly and when they just updated it all of my bill pay info got erased and I have to reenter it
6. They have issues with completing paypal transfers and payments.
They lost a large chunk of money that I needed to pay rent. And member services brushed me off in the first email asking for help and didn’t reply back to me the second email. I contacted paypal and they did everything on their end that they could, but after their trace confirmed that the money was deposited and not rejected I called them and it turned out my money was in SOMEONE ELSE’S ACCOUNT! For 2 weeks! I missed 1 digit and somehow even with it clearly under my name sat in someone’s account. Does no one check these things? Why did I have to wait two weeks? How does this happen? They just said I have to triple check what I type in, but why wasn’t the transaction rejected? This makes no sense.

This is a good place to go, if you want to get away from the big banks, just as a matter of principle, which I did. However, the online bill pay system is only so-​so, although much improved since I signed on a year + ago. And, the check hold policy is a bit severe, as are the overdraft fees. So, all in all — not that much better than the big banks.
As an aside, I was rather put off, when I went in to apply for a second on my home, and got the very hard sell to refinance my first, with very little consideration given to my needs or reasons for taking the second. The interest rate on my first is excellent — no need to refinance. I never bothered to go any further with that prospect.
This isn’t a bad bank. Like I said, it is a perfectly good place to go, if you want to get away from the big bad guys. Just don’t expect something amazing, or all that much different from what you were getting before.

Wow. This place is awesome. Ok so me and business partner came in to open a business account today. The office is clean; lots of glass and wood. The receptionist was super nice and offered us free coffee (keurig!) and water. Also they have dog biscuits for your pup. We took a seat in big comfortable leather chairs and looked at a magazine while listening to the ACTUALLY GOOD music playing softly (Grimes!). We waited for less than five minutes then met with Helen Guerra who was so helpful and nice. We are now set up with a business banking account and seriously considering opening personal checking accounts too.
Maybe because I belong to Bank of America and I’m used to everything being awful that I think Ume is just the best thing ever. Seriously. Helen rules. The office is beautiful. I love this credit union!!!
