Greg’s Tune Up

Went to this place to get a check engine light resolved so we could get the car smog checked. Was told by Greg, the evaluation would be $ 105, but that amount would be put toward the repair cost if we approved repairs. We went ahead with the repair and the «lady cashier» gave me three different prices for the total repair when I called to see if the car was ready. I argued with her about the evaluation cost, and she said they don’t usually apply that cost to repairs. She had to call Greg because he was at the dentist. He confirmed what he had told me about the evaluation cost. She also said he was probably distressed by his tooth problem, and didn’t know what he was saying. My impression is they, (she), will try to charge as much as she can get away with. I think Greg is probably okay, but I will not go back because of this lady!

Greg is a decent and honest auto mechanic. My RV had an engine diagnostic code that robbed the engine of power as well as some engine knocking under heavy loads. I took it to Greg upon referral of other mechanics who didn’t want to work on my RV. And I’m glad I did. He was able to diagnose the problem which was a bad fuel pump and repaired it in a few days. I took the RV for a test drive and all the power is back and no more knocking. Thank you Greg

Best Mechanic in the SFV! Family run shop. If you want an honest mechanic that can get the job done I recommend Greg and Tino! Make sure to call ahead to make an appointment and make sure they do work on your make and model. He also guarantees his work! What mechanic even does that this day and age!!!

Classy people and classy business. I had a hefty job done on my car here that another auto shop (Whitney Auto in Van Nuys) had quoted me nearly twice the price on for the SAME Toyota brand name parts. These guys are old school and don’t rip people off. I have found my new mechanic and will continue going back.
One thing though, they are a very busy shop so best make some all day plans or plan to have a friend pick you up while you wait.

Fortunately my uncle recommended Greg to me about two years ago and I have been taking my car there since. Whether he is going to make money working on your car or not, he gives straight forward and honest advice and doesn’t recommend unnecessary repairs. His prices are extremely fair too and I think that is at least partially because he loves what he does. There is such a thing as an honest mechanic and Greg is definitely one of them.

Today was my third visit to Greg’s over the course of the last year and each time I have been very pleased. The receptionist is always very courteous and diligent about accurately documenting my requested repair work. I’ve also dealt with Greg directly a few times now and he’s extremely knowledgeable and very honest. Today we took my car for a ride so he could experience the problems I was describing. He immediately knew how to rectify both issues. He’s also given me some great referrals to other garages when he feels he is not the best equipped to handle certain work. Finally, I think their prices are reasonable and overall I could not be more pleased!

The best place to get your car serviced or repaired. You can trust this place. I have exclusively used Greg’s for more than 10 years and I an always 100% happy with the service.

Due to illness I was unable to take my car in and meet Greg myself. My husband took the car and was pleased with the friendly service, from the woman in the office to Greg. It was our son who led us there after getting a $ 1600 estimate from the dealership service dept. Turns out none of what they recommended was what was of real concern and my son was able to repair all of that right in his driveway. Meanwhile, Greg’s got right to the issues and it was only $ 220, saving us a bundle! They called when the car was ready, only taking a few hours to repair, and when my husband arrived, all the paperwork was ready and it only took a few minutes to settle up and get on his way. So happy to have found an honest and reliable mechanic, and really glad to give our $$$ to a small local business. Next, it’s my husbands Avalanche that will be going in for service!

This is a easy review. FAIR, HONEST and GOOD. I have been using Greg’s for 10 years now, I have several cars, including a classic.
I had used many mechanics and most would have been lucky to get 1 star. A friend told me about Greg’s, I thought… sigh, here we go again, but from the first few minutes after I arrived, I realized I had finally found a good honest mechanic … «who woulda thought».
Well I have been a dedicated customer for 10 years. I’ve referred all my family and friends there. I have never told anyone about a mechanic before. I am totally a fan of Greg’s.

I have used Greg’s Tune-​up for probably 10 years now to keep three + cars in good operating condition. Here are some of the observations I have made:
1. High quality work. To illustrate this: I had my son-​in-​law bring in his Ford pickup for a steering problem. He had previously been to 2 dealerships and 2 Pep Boys shops; none of which could identify the cause of the problem. Greg’s Tune-​up found the problem, explained the cause, and fixed the problem. All for a reasonable charge.
2. Clear answers. Greg is able to explain what is happening to your car in clear understandable terms. If you want deeper answers he can do that too. He has a lot of practical car mechanical knowledge.
3. Reasonable rates. He is reasonable — not cheap and not exorbitant.
4. Timely repairs. Usually the car is fixed the same day. If it is something major it may take two days. But I have not experienced long delays.
I have been to a number of shops over the years and sometimes with good mechanics. Greg & his staff are excellent examples of good mechanics.

Greg and his team are simply the best! Very helpful! You can’t put a price on great and reliable service.

I’ve been going to Greg’s for years. It’s hard to find an honest mechanic. He always tells it straight and never adds in «extras» that they didn’t tell you about up front.
The only downside is that he is not open on the weekends or after 5pm during the week. Would have been 5 stars otherwise.
