24 Hour Fitness

Like many people who have posted here, I’m truly disappointed in this 24 Hour Fitness. I come here solely because it’s close to work but have had some really down experiences. It just doesn’t seem like 24 cares about the gym or keeping their members (customers) happy/​treated well.
I’ve been quite frustrated with their inability to keep equipment working. Right now, ¾ of the hand dryers in the ladies locker room do not work — that’s the basics. ⁴⁄₄ of the hairdryers don’t work either — that’s the perks you pay for as part of a Super Sport membership. I’ve been in contact with them for months about it and no action taken.
Also, there seems to be mold in some of the showers.
Paper towels/​spray to clean cardio machines is always out.
The hot tub is frequently on the fritz.
During the summer — especially this year — it was like a sweat box in there. Hot, humid, disgusting. If you’re not going to put the AC on enough to cool down the place maybe open windows for some air?
I think they’ve solved it but also over the summer there were towel shortages ALL THE TIME.
You’d think they’d be able to keep the basics under control for the monthly fee but doesn’t seem like they can.

This place is literally a zoo. Horrible customer service. Everyone is up each others ass trying to find a space to workout. It’s dirty. The front desk never speaks when you walk in its like your fucking invisible.

This Location is AMAZING!
Very well kept, bright, and clean.
They offer you towels as you walk in the door, so leave yours at home.
Staff is friendly and very helpful.
Parking is easy and enough spots.

Such a great deal and so convenient — everywhere I go, I can find a 24-​hour gym. (Not the cleanest place, but for the price I can’t complain.) I even got an email which says my rate went down, since I’ve been a member over a year. And of course, it’s 24-​hours. I love 24-​hour gym.

Update:
Many broken machines (Hazardous to members with no signage), fire exit hazards (weights and bars blocking fire exits), and bathroom (Mens) filthy. Made attempts to speak to the GM but always differed to his assistant to speak with and nothing gets done/​fixed. They speak of following club rules when bringing guests (even paid guests) and yet they can’t keep up with maintaining fire, health, and building codes.

Very musty inside, not very well ventilated. Doesn’t help that the bathroom is drowned in bleach and not even thoroughly cleaned. The place REEKS of bleach and after a 30 minute cardio session, my lungs feel tight and I feel slightly dizzy.

Time to move on. Been a member since the 90’s but unhappy incident there last week.
Been going down hill for a while, equipment gets broke and it takes a long time to fix. Same with bathrooms. Pay a premium to come here, harder to see the value…
Curious mix of equipment and missing some key machines. Lots of squat racks but only one leg press machine, no glute kick back station, no overhead press bench and stuff like that.
Have stayed primarily due to the large number of locations I can access when traveling, but day passes on occasion well be much less than my current Super Sport membership.
Been a good run but things change our things change.

This review is way over due, I have been coming to this 24 location now for about 8 months and it is by far my favorite 24 in the greater LA area. I will say I have only been to about 5 locations so there may be more potential out there.
Here’s a quick 1 – 5 scale of the Burbank 24 hour fitness… (1 being terrible and 5 being RAD)
Parking– 4 I would give it a 5 but trying to find a spot M-​F from 5pm-7:30pm is tough
Gym Weights and Machines– 4 They do have a great selection of machines, free weights, squat racks etc that you rarely have to weight for, But the TREADMILLS people wtf get that shit fixed, I know I’m a bigger guy but I shouldnt have to worry about twisting a knee when i want to run on the treadmill from the track sticking to the machine
Gym Facilities– 5 I will say the place is always very clean for the most part and is well kept, always towels available.
Staff– 4.5 There are quite a few front desk employees who know many people by name and always smile and say hello which is what you expect from a facility like this but one guy in particular named Alex is ALWAYS on top of it. I’m not sure if he is a manager or sales guy or what but he knows everyone who comes through the door and is always in a great mood and you can tell he really enjoys being there. Employees like this make a guy like me truly enjoy coming into the gym everyday.
Trainers– 4 I honestly can’t give the trainers that great of a review since I’ve never participated in a one on one session but I will say if you ever have any questions they are very helpful and willing to give you any advice. A trainer named Joe has given me some good advice and motivation.
Overall: 4.5 Keep it up 24

Machines are cool. Nothing special compared to other gyms at this price point (except for Bay Club) lol they are a very expensive joke! There is no designated parking for the gym so you have to battle for spots w people that just came to hang out at the village… There are always fresh towels which I really like. The bathrooms are well stocked, but my biggest pet peeve here is that the locker room is soooo small and cramped (relative to the size
of the facility). So I would say that it is a cool location that is more convenient than the Sherman oaks location. Compared to the west hills location it seems like all of the equipment is the same, this location is just new so it’s getting a lot
of attention.

I love this 24 hour fitness location. They always seem to have enough clean towels and the locker rooms and bathrooms are pretty clean. There always seems to be parking even during the busiest times and you also don’t have to worry about parking validation (unlike the NoHo location).
Most of the time I go to this location even though I’m closer to the NoHo location. I like the gym floor layout of the Burbank location better than the NoHo layout (Burbank has all cardio and weight equipment on one floor while NoHo has two floors with weight machines and locker rooms are on the first floor and cardio machines on the 2^nd floor). I also like that there’s a big open area with no equipment next to the free weights and fixed barbells. Plenty of room to do deadlifts, squats, curls, etc.
The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because weights are not always re-​racked, but I guess that’s to be expected at most gyms.

I «renewed» my membership after a few years hiatus. I’m bummed that there’s a $ 39.99 annual fee on top of the $ 44.99/mo. They started this fee several months ago. Boo… Anyways, it is a 5 min drive fr home, so it’s very convenient. I go before work between 5−6a, it’s easy to park, and 90% of the cardio equipment are available.
I only gave 3 stars due to the class schedules. The morning classes doesn’t cater to the 8−5p jobs anymore since the first class starts at 7a. They use to have a 530−6a spin class in the mornings. What a bummer! I might have to renew my BAC membership for AM classes since they offer spin at 6a. Also, the staff needs to be more attentive since the spray bottle & paper towels are empty and the trash was full. This shouldn’t be an issue at 6a.

It’s really hard to like this gym, especially after using some of the super sports in Orange County.
The staff is really friendly & the equipment is decent. However, the whole place reeks of chlorine, the girls locker room is messy, the facility isn’t the cleanest and I don’t love the classes. Even the people who teach the classes are out of shape which is kind of bizarre.

Before I begin, take into consideration I’ve been a member of gyms for years so I know the usual complaints. I won’t bore you with the «it’s dirty sometimes, there are creeps, meatheads, steroid, attention seeking girl» stuff.
What I can tell you is that this is a great gym for what you want to do. They have free weight area with 2 squat racks AND a Olympic station with 4 power racks for squatting, deadlifting or pressing. That’s what you want from a gym. They have a good cardio section, ropes, TRX area, weight sled, basketball court upstairs… what more do you want?!
The only complaint I have is the kids club. My daughter has been going to the kids club just about her whole life and we had an incident at another location with 24 so I am extra precautious when it comes to her. I’ve noticed girls sitting down and texting or just not really engaging or watching children which is a no no. Kids can get hurt in seconds. Watch the kids.
Other than that, great gym. Better than NOHO in my opinion if you want a gym to get a workout. If you want rich folk ameneties like at equinox then go there.

Recently decided to give this location another shot. It’s still terrible.
The staff does absolutely nothing but hang out at the front desk. I’ve never seen someone reracking weights, picking up towels, or enforcing gym policies. Machines are broken, towels are in rare supply, and the locker room/​pool areas are filthy. The Glendale locations are a hot mess but at least I’ve seen one guy attempt to make them slightly better. Burbank employees seem unable to walk the floor unless they’re giving someone a hard sales pitch.
The gym floor is littered with gym bags; an issue I don’t see at any other location. I imagine the staff doesn’t do anything about it because they know how frequently their lockers are broken into. I haven’t been robbed (again) at this location, but that’s only because I only use the lockers on the gym floor.
The struggle for equipment is near ending. Pushy personal trainers having their clients do supersets on multiple pieces of equipment at peak hours is a norm. It’s bad enough having to deal with the multiple bros stockpiling free weights like squirrels stocking acorns for a rough winter, but to have a gym employee let you know that they’ll need these 4 machines for the next hour is unacceptable.
REVIEW SPEED ROUND!
Locker rooms: Constantly wet, always filthy
Pool: Has a lovely sheen of oil and Axe body spray
Sauna: It’s fine
Steam room: Door is broken and it’s filled with creepers
Hot Tub: A soup of bacteria
To sum it all up, it’s not the worst 24 Hour I’ve ever been to but they’re trying their hardest to get there.

No gym will EVER have the highest of high ratings.
There will always be a gym with better classes, better trainers, better equipment, better parking, & of course. Cleaner venues. So many factors go into the make up of a good and solid gym. I have to give some credit where it’s due and that is that many of these 24 hour gyms try maintaining their cleanliness and efficiency the best they can. Don’t get me wrong, they can definitely do better but let’s be real. So many individuals come in and out of these gyms that it’s hard to maintain a tidy gym after every single one of us.
Thankfully, YOU do not live at the gym. You just work out in it. So as long as you clean up after yourself hopefully others follow & the staff can maintain their gym the best they can. Now to the more important things:
— CLASSES: Burbank and a couple of the newer super sports are delivering a huge variety of classes. I’ve taken the hip hop class here & it isn’t bad when you have that quick itch for a class (but don’t want to pay for the studio price of $ 15). Meaning to try out the insanity & pop Pilates classes next!
— EQUIPMENT: Their ellipticals have a TV on it. Reminds me of Wall-​E. Thankfully the TVs are attached to an exercise machine rather than a comfy looking beach chair. Burbank’s well equipped in my opinion but like I said, there’ll always be a newer gym with better machines. Gym goers need to be better at putting their weights away though. Sherman Oaks know how to put their stuff away, so there’s no reason why Burbank shouldn’t do the same.
SERVICES: Their front desk doesn’t seem the friendliest. I’ve gone to friendlier 24’s.
OVERALL, some people need to understand that all you need is your good 30 – 60 min workout a day & be on your way! Don’t be so critical about every single thing or else you’ll never do anything but criticize.
Heads up (s):
— People complain about towels. Personally, I bring my own. If you have a complaint I suggest squashing the problem by simply remembering to bring your own.
— Parking is hectic during peak hours which are normally 5:00 — 8:00PM. Or 7:00 — 9:00AM. However, parking isn’t timed here like it is at Sherman oaks. So that is a lovely plus!

REVIEW FOR TRAINING with Kimberly. Had a free training session after being with 24 hour for 6 months, so of course I used it, and I knew who I wanted to train me!
Kimberly is awesome! I mean, just look at her… body goals right there. She had me try new exercises and watched my form to give me tips. She’s super sweet and you’ll have fun working out with her. She definitely pushed me and kicked my butt with her workout and I was so sore the next day. I didn’t think only 1 hour of training would make a difference… wrong!
I’d definitely recommend Kimberly as a trainer if you need motivation or just want help getting into good shape. She knows what she’s talking about. Again, just look at her!
REVIEW FOR THE GYM… it gets like 3.5 stars.
Things that annoy me:
1. Guys who drop weights when you’re on the bench right next to them. If your weight falls on my toe… my weight will hit your face.
2. People who don’t put back their weights! It’s really not that hard… and not everyone does this, but if you do (and you know who you are) just put them back! It’s so hard to find dumbbells you want sometimes because they can be all the way on the other side of the gym or hiding under some machine.
3. Sometimes it’s so hot in here that I sweat just by waking in. «We don’t put the AC that high cause people like to sweat here.» Really? They can wear a sweatshirt.
4. Parking. You need more, and more covered spots cause it’s so hot!
5. Takes long to repair broken equipment sometimes.
6. When they run out of towels. Buy more! Why am I paying extra for super sport if there are no towels?
Things that make me happy:
1. Pretty good equipment, newer than the Glendale one.
2. Staff is super nice here.
3. The cleaning staff is great, they really clean well.
4. The nice people who work out when I do who put back their weights.
Overall it’s a pretty good gym. The ones in Orange County are better though. It can’t even compare to places like Equinox which I love, but 24 hour is closer for me, and a lot cheaper. If I had nothing to compare to then I guess I’d like it better. It’s mostly the people who don’t care to put their stuff back or pick up their dirty towels that make it gross at times, which is why I avoid peak times.

Pro: 3 day free trial & nice front desk who aren’t too pushy
Cons: everything. You won’t need a 3 day trial because you won’t be returning. As others have commented it’s so extremely hot & stuffy. I like hot yoga but hot treadmill running? No thanks. Cramped, sweat hitting you from other runners, no tvs, bad music, horrible free weights full of gross guys staring at their hairy bodies in the mirror. Coming here made my decision sooo easy. Classpass or Equinox it is. I like working out & this would make me hate it.

Not a fan of this gym.
I just spent about 45 minutes on hold trying to cancel my membership. They didn’t hassle me and canceled it right away but it’s a little ridiculous to have to wait that long to do so.
Pros:
–Has a nice basketball court
–Affordable
–Open 24 Hours
Cons:
–Too Crowded, long wait time for machines
–Parking can be crazy during peak hours but that’s not surprising
–Locker Room can be pretty filthy sometimes
–Has an annual fee
–Not well maintained
If anyone knows of a better gym that’s affordable please let me know because I’m not wasting anymore money at this gym.

So I became a member of this 24 Fitness about a month ago and I’m pleased. Moving to Burbank soon so it works for me and will be my home base.
It’s WAY better than the one I was going to in Pasadena, which was basically turning into a dump… it was brutal.
Staff here is friendly, machines are clean and… I guess up to date… or at least all appear to be working… dunno…not an expert at machines.
The only complaints I would have is I trip on weights that people won’t re-​rack and couples/​etc talking at stations while I’m waiting for them to finish sets, too much chit chat going on. Be mindful that people might be waiting for the station you’re sitting at for 15 minutes.
P. S. Guys that flex in mirrors with the tight shirts on are hilarious. Had to say it.

To me… a gym is a gym. If you can get a good work out in then you’re good. I’ve always looked into getting 24 hour fit because of my work schedule and sleep times, and finally decided to get a membership. This one in particular is just like any other gym. Between the times of 6pm-​8pm expect it to be PACKED!
Coming here for the first time by myself in such a congested environment gave me a bit of anxiety. I usually have no problem waiting for equipments at LA fitness (even when I go around the times between 6−8pm), but here… you kinda have to. But what bothered me the most is when you just started a work out and someone asked you if you’re done. I’ll tell them I have 3 more sets in. So they wait… like hovering right next to you type of waiting. Like brah, can I live!!! Well in this case, can I lift!!! If I can feel you breathing… you gotta step back a little more. Just saying.
Over all… they got pretty much what you need to get a good sweat on. Maybe next time I’ll go a bit later when it’s everyone’s bedtime.
