Main Auto Sound

This is the place that installed my beats in my car. I love this guy! The best to work with, the best deals, and very efficient. When I tell you that I came down on my lunch break all the way from N. French Rd. because I was told I could get installs in less than an hour, that’s just what he did. I’m not too sure if this place is still open. I sure wish it was. This place was a gem for sure!

My first Unilocal review. Hooking up some speakers in my Jeep this afternoon reminded my of how I came to find out this place screwed me over.
THEY STOLE FROM ME.
This place is shady, or at the very least some of the people they employ are.
About 9 years ago I was a poor college kid. I saved a couple paychecks from my crappy pizzeria job and saved up enough to buy a nice Pioneer head unit and JL audio components for my truck, which I purchased online (as opposed to direct from Main Auto Sound). I also had an Alpine amp from my last car that I wanted to use to power the speakers, and eventually, a subwoofer.
I saved up a couple more checks and then had enough to get this stuff professionally installed, because I’m lazy and didn’t feel like taking my dash, doors etc apart and all that stuff.
I went to Main Auto Sound because they had a rep for being a good installation shop. If I remember correctly I payed around $ 400 for the install which included amp wiring, fuse blocks, capacitors, etc. They also mounted the amp against the rear of the back seat which gave a pro-​install look. Wiring was trim and neat looking. Sound was great, the JL 6.5’s really took to the amp and put out some decent bass.
Years later, like 2 or so years later. My old truck had finally bit the dust. As I ripped out the old stereo stuff before selling the vehicle… low and behold… some crappy Chinese tweeters and crossovers were stuffed in there — NOT THE JL AUDIO EQUIPMENT THAT I PROVIDED THEM. Because they knew I’d never be ripping apart my dash anytime soon to check their work (specifically the tweeters/​crossovers because they were really tucked away), they took advantage and STOLE my JL Audio components and put some knockoff garbage in there.
To their credit, I never noticed that I had been running some low quality tweets, they sounded good enough to my untrained ears I suppose. But seriously that is a f’ing dirty, scumbag move to do your customers like that. I mean, they knew I’d likely find out eventually, right? I guess they were thinking it would be a good while before I’d ever find out (they were correct), and that it would just be their word against mine by then. Shady, man. At least we have Unilocal now to help spread the word.
They get 2 stars instead of 1 because this was 9 years ago, kind of a long time to be complaining I guess. Also the actual installation of my gear was decent — it sounded and looked good.
All & all, I would not recommend anyone go to Main Auto Sound. They did a good job installing my EQ, but they employ shady people. They are in kind of a not-​great part of town, so I guess it’s not surprising.
