Having a huge phobia of dentists since I was a child, I hesitantly made an appt with Dr.
Kanemaki after seeing all the positive reviews on here.
I’m so happy I decided to come here! My first visit here was such a positive experience. The staff was extremely friendly and thorough in explaining procedures and giving a breakdown of costs.
Dr. Kanemaki is such a pleasant dentist with excellent bedside manners. He sensed my uneasiness and was also very attentive. He also threw in a bonus — My 2 front teeth were always jagged and I always felt self conscious about it. He said he could fix the issue easily by shaving the jagged edge to make them even. My teeth are so even and straight now~!
I can definitely say I no longer have a huge sense of dread if I have a dentist appointment scheduled.

I have been a patient since 1999. I am more than pleased with all services from the front desk to the dental assistants as well as Dr. Kanemaki. I highly recommend this office for all your dental needs. Dr. Trent is also highly recommended. Pat at front desk is always so helpful and kind. Karen who is a dental assistant is excellent at the chair side. I cannot forget Barb or Nellie!!! I have driven many miles (at one point I lived over 100 miles from this office but that was of little consideration as they are worth it) I have had extensive dental work done and this is where I would send anyone and everyone. Just call. You will love them.

I’ve had a few experiences where I’ve felt that previous dentists sometimes push the more aggressive, expensive treatment when it’s not (yet) needed; I don’t blame them, they’re running a business. Because of these experiences, however, I am particularly appreciative of the fact that all 3 dentists who have treated me here at Dr. Kanemaki’s office run me through multiple different options for treatment, ranging from conservative to more aggressive. They are never pushy and, in fact, usually suggest the more conservative treatment (which suits me as a patient). My only complaint is that they are so popular that you need to book months in advance.

They are always so friendly, every single one of the staff members and Dentists. My family has been going here since i was a child. Highly recommended.

Came here because I had a filling fall out and needed to see what had to be done. Im a chicken-S**t when it comes to the dentist and it always hard for me to make an appointment but I’ve finally found a place where I’m not worried about. Everyone from the front staff to the dental assistant to the DR’s themselves are great.
What really struck me the best is how they explain everything in detail of what they are doing and how/​why. Once you know whats going to happen it puts your mind at ease and doesn’t wander and for me that helped tremendously. Thank you everyone at Randall Kanemaki’s office!!!

After serious odontophobia turmoil, if I must begrudgingly making a dental exam appointment, I make it here!
The staff is kinda as well as welcoming. Dr. Randall Kanemaki Jr. is my dentist and does a phenomenal job at his profession. As far as my deep loathing of the dentist it is important to find a professional that makes you feel at ease in the chair. I always walk away knowing that the people at this office take care of the needs of their patients.

I have to start off by saying I am beyond terrified of going to the dentist, I have avoided it for many years and I am now paying the price by having so much work to do. The good news is the doctors are SO nice and gentle, they will make sure you’re very comfortable and will stop whenever you need a break. The nurses and front office staff are sweet and super friendly. I’ve been coming here for few years and I don’t plan on going anywhere else. My husband, his parents and his brother started going here and they all feel the same way about this office.

Wonderful staff and wonderful dentists. Dr Kanemaki SR. and his son really care for their patients and will steer you in the right way. I had issues with my gums being very sensitive and bleeding for a while. Ive had other dentists tell me to do expensive deep cleaning procedures and even tell me that I had several cavities when I had none! With Dr Kanemakis humble advice, my gum issues were resolved, no crazy procedures necessary, just simple at home remedies. I also wanted costly cosmetic work done and instead Dr Kanemaki was able to fix my teeth at a small FRACTION of the price while keeping my original teeth in tack and in a matter of mins made them look SO MUCH BETTER. I was blown away. I will never go to another dental office again. For trustworthy, kind, attentive dental care, look no further.

I should have done this a long time ago but I’ve been going to Dr. Kanemaki way before Unilocal existed! And I feel I owe it to him to at least let the world know what an excellent dentist and also what a good person he is! He’s been so patient with me by putting up with me and my mouth for 20 something years! I give him a lot of credit for that alone and yet he always is very professional and explains everything and anything I’ve ever asked him which I appreciate very much! And his son now works there in the same office and he too is a very good dentist and also very professional and its a very comfortable environment and all the girls in the office are very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend Dr’s Randy & Trent Kanemaki if you are looking for a great local dentist!

I brought my son in for a filling and let me tell you they are awesome here. My son has been going here since he was 3 and he loves their office. Friendly staff! I absolutely love this office and would recommend them. If you looking for a excellent dentist then look no further!

I’ve been coming here off and on since my teens and only strayed when I had dental insurance that forced me to go elsewhere. Eventually I decided to just stick with Kanemaki and pay out of pocket because I trust the people here. I am someone who asks a lot of questions and is very curious about the inner workings of everything, and they always indulge my curiosity instead of brushing it off. Also, I recently went in complaining of tooth pain near a deep filling, thinking I needed a root canal. Kanemaki told me he saw no evidence that I needed a root canal and that it was just my sinuses. Sure enough, it went away when my sinuses cleared up. Any other dentist would’ve jumped at the chance to do an expensive procedure like that, so that just validates why I keep coming back.

I will never go to another dentist, as long as I live. That is all. No seriously, I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and have had nothing but a stellar experience each and every time (this includes my husband and two kids — I asked them).

My family has been going to Dr. Kanemaki’s office for more than 30 years! He treats my mom, uncles and cousins! They truly care about their patients. All the ladies at the front desk are great at following through with scheduling your appointments, bill reminders, etc. You will not have to wait 30 minutes in the office if you have an appt like at some dentist offices. Majority of the time I’m in and out of there in an hour.
Over the summer, one of my teeth starting throbbing painfully and after 1 day of waiting it out, the next day it continued so I quickly called their office and they had an appt the next day. It turned out to be a root canal which takes 3 visits to treat. Sticking to their schedule, I needed my next appt to be 2 weeks later, then the following 5 weeks later. Dr. Kanemaki quickly assessed the problem and worked on my tooth the first time I went in. He even called me later that night to see how I was doing and if I had any pain with my tooth; which I didn’t at all! I got all my visits in ASAP, which at some dentist offices can take months!
Visiting Dr. Kanemaki’s office is not scary and I never dread going to the dentist anymore. Also, majority of his staff has been there since I was child so that is a good sign that they’re doing something right! I highly recommend him!

Dr Shimizu is wonderful! He is very honest about uncomfortable procedures and yet reassuring and remarkably gentle at the same time. I am a big wimp so it matters quite a bit to me that he goes the extra mile. Also, another great thing about this practice is the other staff who do cleaning, X-​rays, and prep work. They are excellent. Dr Shimizu does not tolerate any kind of incompetence. I’m very impressed every single time I go.

I live in Virginia but I wish this was my regular dentist! I was on vacation in California and needed an emergency dental procedure. I called on a Saturday morning and the office fit me in that very afternoon even though I am not a regular patient of theirs. I was a little skeptical because of the dated decoy duck décor! However, once I saw the dental assistant Kathy and the dentist Brian Shimizu, my fears completely disappeared. The staff here is very professional and considerate. Everything was thoroughly explained to me and they really took the time to listen to me and did not rush me. Shimizu was very friendly yet professional. He was very patient and took the time to carefully explain everything until I was satisfied. He talked me thru the procedure and I was always felt very comfortable. He did great work and saved my vacation! Additionally, that evening he personally called to check up on me — who does that???
Thanks to horrible childhood experiences, I really hate going to the dentist. I wouldn’t hesitate to come here though.

Please don’t come here. I want this dental office all to me. Bc of Unilocal this office is getting so popular that I can’t get my appointments. So everyone else, go away. Go find another highly ranted dentist on Unilocal.
I love the dentists and staff here. They are great, patient and awesome. It’s bc of all you new peeps trying to invade my dental territory that my cleaning appointments have to be booked 5 months later!!!

Went to a new dentist the other day. and they told me that the filling that I did at my old dentist, was not done correctly and now I have to re-​do both fillings since there is a decay inside and they have to refill the cavity.
Crap! What a waste of money.
But still 2 stars due to the friendly front desk ladies.

I no longer go to him because I’ve moved but I highly recommend his work.
The only thing is that the office doesn’t have the most up-​to-​date equipment. Sometimes newer equipment is an overkill anyway.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Kanemaki for 30+ years. If you combined my family in years, it would be well over 100 years!!!
I’ve been visiting twice a year since probably 7 or 8 years old. I’m 27 now. My two older brothers, my older sister, and both parents have also been going twice a year for routine cleaning. My mom is Mexican and my dad is Persian, so we are an eclectic bunch and let me tell you — we love the staff and I think they love us back (except when maybe I miss a scheduled appointment — which I’ll add I usually feel bad about but make it up to them by filling in one of their call-​out scheduled appointments)
What can I say. It’s a family environment with the patient/​staff/​doctor relationships. And yes, maybe I am biased since I have been coming to the same doctor since I was a kid, but my parents are no fools and they didn’t raise any either. They love their children and only sought the best health care for themselves and especially for us while growing up. You could say that since both immigrated from developing countries, that health was priority number one for their children. If they, or I had seen an inch of declined service or practice, we would have been long gone.
Just recently my aunt visited from Sweden and a temporary cap fell off one of her fillings (one that was to be worked on upon returning to Sweden). We could of waited until she left for home to resolve the issue, but we had complete trust in both the doctor and staff that we could take my aunt in, work up proper paperwork, and get an additional temporary cap so she did not feel discomforted in her teeth the duration of her visit here.
The facility is a very quaint but a well oiled machine. Not much has changed in the décor or staff members since I first began going to the dentist, albeit, I am no way suggesting that things have not changed. The technology they use now is impressive. I can remember that charts had to be filed a certain way, or that it took a day or two, then progressed to, maybe 5 – 10 minutes for an x-​ray result to come back. Now, they have computer modules in every room that supply all the information within seconds — including xrays. The practices the doctors perform are up-​to-​date as well. Throughout the years certain procedures have changed. I am an inquisitive patient, always chatting it up with the staff and doctor, so I always am interested to know in new filler or new tools they have or even the comfy chairs. HAHA
The location is minutes from the 91 and about 10 minutes from the ²²⁄₄₀₅ interchange and 605 freeways. It’s located in a small plot in-​between residential and a pre-​school/​day care. In fact, the pre-​school/​day care and the optometrist that resides in the adjacent part of the facility have been there for as long, or even longer, than Dr. Kanemaki. At least, from what I can recall, it has always been there. So the location is nice as well. The parking lot is really tiny but there has never EVER been an issue with parking. That is probably because the staff is so good they even got the timing and parking down to a T.
I know I may not have much validity as it comes to Unilocal ratings, but I can vouch (if worth anything) to most of all the other reviewers. From the duck décor, frankly I think this is becoming their Unilocal trademark, EVERYBODY LOVES IT, HAHA, to more importantly, the proper examination practices — checking gum measurements, jaw bone tissues, mouth cancer screening, yearly or bi-​yearly x-​ray screenings, cleaning, polishing, and so on.
Dr. Kanemaki and Shimizu offices are top-​notch. The staff is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY knowledgeable, most have been with the doctors since I can remember — they have seen my brothers and sister grow up. Yes, the décor looks dated. Yes, they still use walkmans or cd players, and aged prehistoric headphones. But you know what, they take great care in EVERYTHING. The place is clean, nothing is damaged, and where it truly counts, to say, to put your money where your mouth is — things are as modern and precise as it can ever be. Because of all the things I’ve mentioned, I believe that is why they have such great reviews on everything you Google about them, not just Unilocal.
To the Doctors, the staff, and for some who have passed away over the years, you all continue to be the best in the business.

I’m a wimp when it comes to going to the dentist so I put off going. BUT, I was suffering from EXTREME wisdom tooth pain on a Sunday and finally made an appointment Monday after looking on Unilocal for a dentist near by. The receptionist who picked up my call was extremely nice and sympathetic about my discomfort and booked me for an appointment on Wednesday. By Tuesday my neck was swollen and it hurt to do anything! I could barely eat and it hurt so bad to swallow and yawn. painkillers could only do so much and even though I hate taking them, I just couldn’t take the pain.
By the time of my appointment on Wednesday I was about to break down because I just couldn’t stand the pain anymore. But the assistant, Karen, was the nicest lady ever and made me feel a lot better. I have the most difficult time taking X-​rays because I have a really strong gag reflex. She was so gentle and patient with me throughout taking the X-​ray and calmed me down when I would start panicking.
Dr. Kanemaki saw to me and knew exactly what to do after taking a look at the x-​ray and my tooth. Turns out it wasnt the tooth that was hurting, but the gum above it because the tooth was still impacted and bacteria had gotten in. He did his magic and most of the discomfort was gone after a day. By Saturday I could eat like normal again! He was extremely gentle and the shot to numb my mouth felt like just a little pinch. He’s also extremely likable and made small talk with me to make me forget about the raging pain going on in my mouth.
I’m definitely going here from now on for all my dental concerns because it’s very affordable with insurance and everyone here is so nice! They even sent me a card congratulating me on graduating! I’ve been referring my friends here after my awesome experience.
