We specialize in old fashioned service with today’s technology. We have continuing education, ASE certifications, a lot of experiance in the same location. We work on A/​C sytems, Computer systems, Brake Systems, Front End repair, Tune Ups, Fuel Injection Systems, Cooling Systems, Heavy Engine work and replacement, Clutch Systems, Oil leaks, Wiring issues, just about everything. We know good transmission and upholstery people. Our head technician has been with us 24 years, we live in the area as well. We like our customers and some have been with us since day one. The owner worked at Mechanics’ On Wheels for 8 years in Austin. You may remeber him from KLBJ AM radio and channel 24’s «Good Morning Austin» show. He would take live calls and answer car questions. Ellie and Tim settled in Buda in 1983 and have been here ever since. Come visit our dirty shop, nasty driveway and see why people come to us for auto repairs, you will be glad you did. Business Owner

Tim went to Auto Mechanics school and graduated. Worked for Mechanic On Wheels where he met his wife Ellie. Moved to Buda to raise their family and decided to start Buda Automotive. They raised 3 great children, all graduates of Hays schools, graduates of Texas State or currently going. We have been working with the community for over 25 years, Ellie very busy in Central Texas soccer and other functions. They are part of the Buda and Kyle area.

They do a fantastic job with fixing and repairing cars. I was in a pickle on two separate occasions and they were so accommodating. Tim fixed the issue in both situations and the price was reasonable. I felt he was very honest and professional. This place is amazing! It’s great that they are local!

I recently had to get an oil change on my car. I took it to my local car place and while getting that done inquired about getting my headlight bulb changed which had burnt out and I hadn’t had a chance to try to put in. The quote, $ 80. Yes to replace a light bulb. I obviously declined and placed a call to Buda Automotive whom my mother had recently done some work with.
I was told at most $ 25, and I was sold. So I took the car there to get that done but while there decided to check on a few other things. The first place I went told me my belts were bad, I didn’t believe him so I asked him to look at that, to fix a wiring issue for my turn signal, and to check on my speedometer which had been intermittenly not working for the past couple of weeks.
End result? I got all four things done, my car is running much better, I feel safer driving it, and well now that things are working properly I can get my safety inspection done for my registration this month. The quotes I had gotten for these other things from my local shop had ranged from $ 80 for the ‘light bulb switch’ to $ 300 for some other pieces, and I got all four things done for less than the price of the $ 300 quote for one item.
To say I’m sold is an understatement. Its nice to see a mechanic that doesn’t see a woman comang and start thinking dollar signs! Thank you Tim and crew!

It’s a wonder these people are still in business after all of these years. I guess that there are enough people out there that are willing to overpay for terrible service and deal with rude mechanics and office staff.
My first experience with these guys was about 11 years ago when I had a ’98 Mercury Sable. It just needed a few small things done to it, but it took them an absurd amount of time to complete the work and I’d almost have paid less at the dealership.
My last experience with them a week ago was just as bad. I was pricing out an engine swap for my ’88 Dakota and I figured that I’d give them another try since it had been over a decade, it couldn’t still be bad.
Boy was I wrong.
The mechanics and office staff were just as rude and snarky as they were 11 years ago. The owner wasn’t available at the time so they wrote my info down to give me a call later, which never happened. I tried calling them back a few days later and could never get anyone to pick up.
I’d never recommend this place to anyone. If you need some quality work done, check out B&V Performance in Kyle, they’re leagues better and far more reasonably priced.

I would give Tim and his staff at Buda Automotive 10 stars if possible. I dropped my transmission on the way home from work, looked up local mechanics, and called. Tim answered and had me drop it off. Not only was the price better than anyone in a 50 mile radius, the service and turn around time was impeccable. Personal, friendly, courteous, and thorough. Several months later I needed more work done, he called and explained that he was searching for a better price for parts and would do his best to be cost efficient. 24 hours later, work was done, and I was down the road. I prefer putting my mkney back into the local community, and Tim has a customer for life. I recommend Buda Auto for all your mechanic needs. You will not be disappointed!

Charged me $ 100 to install an alternator (which I provided) onto a 1980s Chevy with a big V8 motor and plenty of room to work under the hood. Probably the simplest task you could do on this vehicle, it didn’t even take them 10 minutes to do the work and there was nobody else there waiting. As punishment for providing my own part (instead of waiting all day for their vendor to bring an alternator) I was made to wait for 2 hours while the owner talked to his friends and slacked off on purpose before finally being presented a bill for $ 96. Avoid this place like the plague, this is for friends of the owner only everyone else gets the shaft. Never again will I visit this place.

THE BEST PLACE YOU WILL EVER TAKE YOUR CAR, EVER!
I have been going to Buda automotive (as has my family) since I could drive. ANYTIME I have ever gone anywhere else I have regretted it!
This is a true Family owned and operated business with he best, most knowledgeable people. Tim and the rest of the family will always remember you, joke with you, invite you to lunch and fix your car in the best way possible.
REALLY– They are not only the fairest priced place in the Buda/​Austin area but guarantee their work. ALWAYS the best price! Every one I have ever sent out to see them has never gone to another mechanic since.
I am not saying they are always the fastest, but that is simply due to popularity for a reason.
Affordable, and friendly, I hate to even share this information! But they need a thumbs up. You won’t even leave right away when you drop or pick up your car because they are just great to talk to.
