History
Established in 1916.
In 1916, Reuben C. (Ruby) Syrett brought his family to the wilds of Southern Utah, establishing a ranch near the present site of Ruby’s Inn. A few weeks after his arrival, another nearby rancher told Ruby of the canyon called Bryce. Ruby and his family made a Sunday visit to the canyon rim. They were so impressed by what they saw that they not only took full advantage to tell people of the canyon’s beauties, but they also became hosts to its visitors. By 1919 they had obtained permission from the state to build a lodge, the «Tourist Rest», near the brink of the canyon.
In 1923, when Bryce Canyon became a National Monument, Ruby moved his «Tourist Rest», to the location of his ranch and named it Ruby’s Inn. The Post Office established services at the inn and still serves the area throughout the year.
The RV Park and Campground provides an ideal setting for those wishing to «rough it» at Ruby’s Inn and be near Bryce Canyon.
Meet the Manager
Cary D.
Manager
I have a BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Brigham Young University-Hawaii, and a MS in Hotel Administration from UNLV. After completing my undergraduate degree, I came to Ruby’s Inn for a few years in a Human Resources role. I then worked in casinos and manufacturing for about 10 years before returning to Ruby’s Inn again. I have an extensive background in Human Resources and employee Training and Development. My managers are the owners of the business and what I love about Ruby’s Inn is that it’s a family business and I feel like I make a difference. I love the product we are selling and I believe in it. I believe that we help visitors to this area have a great time and feel comfortable in the outdoors.
