This is actually a great place to grab lunch as they have some excellent sandwiches and wraps made fresh in the deli. Picked up a local sausage wrap today for $ 1.39. The cheese here is the freshest I have found anywhere in Texas. Today I asked why and they said that they sell a lot of it and it is fresh packed from bulk with minimal air exposure. I have found that the cheeses at HEB and Kroger will more often than not taste like the inside of a fridge. Not here. Seems they take pride and do proper quick care to ensure freshness. Gonna pop a nice bottle of wine and want the best cheese to compliment it(they have an interesting selection of wine as well). Here. This is the best cheese in Brazos Valley that I have found, and this very well could be the source of the best sandwiches as well.

Finally had an opportunity to stop in as I was looking for a pork shank as part of a Czech dinner I was preparing. This is a nice find and more upscale than my local butcher in Weimar, TX(Kasper’s Meat Market). A nice selection of meats and an interesting deli of sorts. It is rare that you can buy bacon by the slice or choose the amount of chops, so a great way to get what you want. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The butcher I dealt with has a Czech background and come from the same same Czech area of Texas. We swapped ideas on how to prepare the pork shank and also through in a great Czech red cabbage recipe. Great experience and I’ll be back.

I’ve driven past Readfields for many years. I was needing quality meat for a dinner and decided to stop by. I was impressed by the knowledge and customer service that I received from the moment I walk in! Prices seemed fair. They also have products that aren’t available at large grocery chains. I was in and out very quickly though I did take time to browse the refrigerated section. Excellent experience and I will definitely go back

I might have given the full five stars but for ONE thing I hate. You MUST watch carefully and speak up if there are dried out steaks on top to insist that you do not get stuck spending $ 12+ a pound for meat that has clearly been in the case too long. As long as you speak up and insist on approving each steak one at a time, the place is good. I didn’t speak up and got THREE seriously inferior cuts, darkened from extended exposure to the air, and this is NOT the kind of service they claim. If it were not for this egregious offense, I’d have given them five stars but I dislike having to be the heavy when I shop.

Best place to get fresh meat. Old timey feel!!! Good sandwiches too! Stuffed pork loin is awesome. You can’t beat the jalepeno cheese sausage.

They have a great selection of quality cuts of meat and even carry whole quail. I also enjoy going there to enjoy their«made-to-order» sandwiches and chopped beef sandwiches.

Readfield’s smoked sausage is the best in Texas hands down. Better than Slovacek, better than Kiolbassa, and definitely better than HEB. The taste is good, and it bar-b-ques perfect every time. I also like their beef jerky and summer sausage too. They make the perfect snack. Readfield has been around for many years. It’s a tradition in my family; my parents buy meats from here. I have them bring me some smoked sausage every time they come visit me in San Antonio. Readfield’s smoked sausage is probably the only thing I miss about Bryan/College Station. 5 stars for Readfield Meats It’s a Bryan Texas legend.

This is a full service meat market, butcher shop, and meat storage. I’ve had friends store venison here after a hunting trip, and they even had the butchers make some of it into some fresh venison sausage. Yum. The store out front has a small selection of sauces & rubs, and a few frozen foodservice exotic items-emu, duck,… They have a sausage counter, and a small butcher’s meat counter. But they didn’t have any bison-damn. I did leave with some of their excellent pork sausage.
