Tucked away in a little strip mall called Broadlands Marketplace, more Thornton than Broomfield, sits Penetta’s Salon and Spa. If you aren’t sharp-eyed, you can miss it pretty easily — the only reason I found it was because they had a stand out front with markers proclaiming it as such. The only reason I ventured to this place was because there was a special on WeeklyPlus’s website offering«$ 27 for $ 90 of Massages, Facials, Hair Services & More at Pennetta’s Salon». Well, I was in need of a good long massage, so for 1⁄3 the price, what the heck, I’m in. To be clear, this is much more of a salon and possibly some spa services than a massage business — they(I believe) have only 1 masseuse at this time and you are tucked away into a small, if comfortable enough, room. Sheets were clean and table was pre-warmed, so that was a nice touch. The masseuse is friendly and easily engageable in chatting if you care to. I asked for lots of pressure and got *some* pressure… it was good, but not great. It is somewhat pricey — I was told the $ 90 was for an hour massage, which far outguns the seeming standard in Denver of «a buck a minute», but I ended up getting probably close to 100 minutes via chatting and, apparently, because the masseuse saw my body needed well over an hour of work. Very kind of her, and because she did not rush me out the door, I’m tossing her and the establishment 4 stars. They have apparently relocated from someplace E of I-25, which is still on their website — don’t go to that address. It’s located off 144th and Lowell, halfway between Wadsworth and I-25. So it’s a bit inland. And if you’re not up north, I’m not sure why you would go out of your way to go here, given that Denver(or Boulder) have many excellent places to go for massage. Are they an outstanding salon? I can’t say, I didn’t get hair done. Will they survive being in such a seeming-isolated area, smack in the middle of suburbia? Again, magic 8-ball says«try again later». Given that they are just starting up in this new location however, it would probably behoove them to bring their massage per minute price in line with the rest of the Denver metro area. But it was a good enough experience for 3 ½ stars, and again, attitude is netting them that extra half a star from me.
