Hilltop Inn & Suites

I had a very comfortable stay at the Hilltop Inn. The location is excellent; it’s isolated enough to not hear the roar of cars in your room, but close enough to the interstate to get where you need to go easily. It’s located on the west side of Denver so you get a good view of the continental divide. The staff are very personable and make you feel as if you are a guest at their home. The ambiance set the mood for a relaxing weekend. My room was comfortable and well accommodated. Nothing to say except positive things about the Hilltop Inn and Suites.

Charming, Rustic and Classic this place doesn’t miss a beat. Family owned and operated charming beyond words. The staff is incredible and the food simply amazing. From the decadent Beef Wellington to the crunchy and buttery fish and chips– belly up to the bar and indulge yourself in whiskey, and great conversation. Or sit by any of the three fireplaces for a game of chess… Take your time and learn from the knowledgable and friendly bartenders if you need to know about scotch on any level… High Tea on Saturdays and Celtic Music surprises… doesn’t get any better than this. Jacuzzi rooms at fair prices– and a gorgeous view of the city below. Shhh don’t tell anybody. Keep this place a secret.

I had a similar experience as Christie V. This place has its charm, but the chef deliberately ignored me for 20 minutes while I patiently waited for him to take my order. Even after I approached the kitchen and tried to start a conversation, he still would not speak to me. It was a very weird vibe.
Judging from the other reviews, the chef isn’t mute or socially inept. So it seems that he was actually trying to express his contempt for me, the guest of his inn. I can’t offer any advice to others on how to deal with this soup nazi, as I’m honestly unsure of what I did to get on his bad side.

Awesome little inn & pub. They or very friendly and helpful and courteous. The room was absolutely charming, gas fireplace, Jacuzzi tub, king-​size bed and plenty of room for a perfect anniversary getaway. I highly recommend the romance package which includes roses champagne and chocolate covered strawberries upon arrival breakfast in bed and a three course meal in the pub.

Mixed stay, to be honest. Our room was very nice and of course the en suite luxury tub is GREAT. However, we were told over and over that breakfast was included in our stay and that we should just sit in the dining room and then the chef would take our order. We did sit and then. .. we waited. We waited for 20 minutes before the manager (who had repeated the «just go find a table and chef will be out to get your order» as we came through) came in to get coffee and said, «has anyone gotten your order yet?» We told him no, politely and then he (manager) went to get coffee. .. without telling the chef we were out there.
More people came in, followed by the chef coming out to check on everyone but us. I swear, it was really weird. We were sitting there quietly, nicely, sipping coffee in plain sight and the manager came BACK through. .. after 30 minutes of sitting there our choices were to complain and then have a rushed breakfast made and possibly a grumpy chef, or to go elsewhere for breakfast. So, we checked out early and went elsewhere. Meh. The only sad story for our anniversary celebration.

My husband and I came here on our wedding night and the night after. I had made reservations a month prior, which included going over every room online and figuring out exactly what I wanted. I booked the Galway King Mini Suite, which had a king size bed and décor I liked. HOT BREAKFAST INCLUDED was advertised on the website as well as the confirmation email I got. My husband checked in on our wedding day, before the ceremony. As this was a very busy day for us, he just dashed in and out and was on his way. We got to our room after the wedding, and what do I see? Two queen sized beds, without any of the décor I had wanted. They had completely switched our room reservation. The next morning I called down as soon as I woke up at 9:30 to order breakfast, only to be told that the kitchen closed at 9 and we were on our own. We were never told that the kitchen closed at 9, only that check out was at 11. When I asked the front desk clerk why our room was different, he replied that they were really busy because of the graduation at CU, so they had to move us around. No apology or attempt to rectify the situation, other than saying he would have the manager call us. 9 hours later, we had not heard from anyone. We went into the office, and someone found the manager for us. We explained the situation, told him this was our honeymoon, and were told again that there was nothing they could do because they were fully booked for the night. He said it wasn’t the end of the world, at least we had a room. The only thing he did was give us a drink on the house since we were planning on going to the pub for dinner. He said if we wanted the room we had booked online, we should have called in to make sure they didn’t move us. OF COURSE I WANTED THAT ROOM, THATS WHY I BOOKED IT. The management of this establishment leaves much to be desired. We will not be coming back to stay the night. The pub is nice though.

I had the misfortune of a 3 night stay and because I was in town to care for my daughter who was having surgery, I did not have the time nor patience to relocate. I was in the Blarney Room where you hear EVERY noise throughout the place. The floor above you is wood in lieu of concrete. ALL modern day hotels have concrete which eliminates most noises. Not this place. When someone upstairs got up to go to the bathroom or partake in extra curricular bedtime activities, I heard it all.
The thermostat on the wall is connected to a gas heater in the fireplace, when it kicks on in the middle of the night, you think a train is rolling through.
The breakfast was 2 options and only 2 options. An omelette with meat or without. Coffee was made sometimes and wasn’t other times.
If you made coffee in your room, expect to wash your own dishes because they won’t. They leave the dirty dishes for you to take care of.
The website makes it look a whole lot better than reality.
I had brought 2 frozen deep dish pizzas with me from Chicago for my daughter, had them in a plugged in cooler all the way out. Stayed in downtown Denver the night before arriving where that hotel was nice enough to keep them in their freezer for me. Upon arrival here, they said they would store them in their freezer, no problem. Following morning the cook informed me they were left on a table next to the freezer overnight, but not in the freezer. They were ruined. They didn’t care and didn’t do anything about it either.
The pub was quaint, but overpriced.

3 star hotel my arse! I’ve never been so disappointed in a hotel/B&B in my life! The rooms are stuck in the 80’s.bedding, mattress, carpet all of it. I’m not sure anything has been washed or sanitized in the last 30 years or so either. The towels are scratchy and there was hair (not mine) all over the tub and sink. If we hadn’t prepaid on Priceline for the whole week we would have run screaming for the nearest Motel 6 or campground. I’m just going to have to go to my happy place every time I walk into the room and pretend that I’m not about to shower and sleep in a room that smells like dirty feet for the next 5 days.

I stayed in the renovated handicapped room. It was kept immaculately clean during my 4 day stay. The owner John made sure I had special mats so I wouldn’t slip out of the walk-​in shower on crutches. He also took me round trips for my Regenexx appointments on the 1^st day plus a wake up call from him at 8 am before taking me for my procedure on the 2^nd day. Michelle at Reception found books I would enjoy & also pointed out near-​by walking paths around a lake prior to my procedure. Café breakfast chef gave me extra portions when I said I woujd later be fasting for 6 hours. I hit the authentic pub several times for the shepard’s pie & Thursday evening folkloric entertainment. The staff made me feel at home & I couldn’t ask for a better stay.

There is no reason this place should have less than 5stars. The rooms are nice and rustic! I stayed in the Kitteridge 800sq ft with jacuzzi in the room! Breakfast is complimentary with the room and they have a pretty solid menu to order from including waffles, pancakes, sausage, etc. which is also included in the room rate! The staff is really cool! The pub has live music on Sunday and Thursday which at first was not my cup of tea but they were so good that eventually there was some head bobbin

The Hotel was quite cozy and a great deal.
Unfortunately, the owner is a nightmare! As the hotel is right next to the First Bank Event Center, many event and concert goers stay at this hotel. The owner will watch your every move, waiting for a chance to kick you out or charge you extra for anything. At 2 AM, he was standing in the courtyard stating «follow the rules» and threatening to call the police, when all myself and my boyfriend were walking into our room, not making any noise. It is very uncomfortable being watched constantly by an unpleasant man, in a hotel room you paid good money for. At checkout we asked to file a complaint against the «night manager», only to find he was the owner. Terrible customer service. He should advertise as a bed and breakfast, requesting that no one from the event center stay there.

My husband and I attended a wedding reception here and we booked a room for that same night. This is a great little English-​style hotel/​restaurant that truly has a ‘home away from home’ feel. There is a nice garden area with seating to enjoy the fresh air. The staff was very welcoming and sweet. The food was superb. We really enjoyed our stay so much that we are planning to come back for our anniversary.

My husband and I booked our wedding reception at the Wildflowers Restaurant that is apart of the Hilltop Inn & Suites. The food was spectacular with wonderful and friendly service. We had our out of town guests stay at the Hilltop Inn before and after the wedding. They were all treated like family and had a great stay. Our reception finished up in the Burns Pub attached to the restaurant, a cute little place with an English touch! The Odde family and staff really make your stay wonderful! We will be back!

We had a great one night stay at Hilltop last month. It’s near the highway and easy to get to. It is, like the name implies, on a hilltop — so thankfully has no highway noise. It’s an easy drive to either Boulder or Denver. The grounds are also quite pretty. There is a cute courtyard area that was a playground for super adorable baby bunnies during our stay.
We had the Cortez room, which was the last one available. Two double beds (with horrendously ugly comforters) and a handicap-​accessible shower weren’t ideal. It worked out okay, but I should have made my long-​limbed boyfriend sleep in the other tiny bed. An elbow to the face is no way to wake up.
The pub is a nice place to end the night. The inn owners’ son (Johnny?) is the bartender, and we had a lot of fun talking with him. They have a ridiculous number of whiskeys and he knows all of them. Also, he was still nice to me after I said I hate whiskey and ordered a Strongbow.
Breakfast in the morning was very good. They have yogurt with granola and fruit, scones, cereal, decent coffee, and then a menu of options for your main course. We just had the basic eggs, but there were other options like pancakes and french toast. I overheard a lady saying the french toast was wonderful and just like her mother’s.
This inn has a really easy, comfortable feeling that we definitely enjoyed. Would totally stay again!

I’m reading these reviews to my right and I had to double check to make sure I’m reviewing the same hotel. Yep, I am. The «old man» is the opposite of rude — he and his entire staff were outstanding during our short 3 day stay. I only wish we could have stayed longer. While this place doesn’t have «heavenly beds», what it does have is charm and character. The rooms are just fine — nothing fancy (except mine had a fireplace) but the centerpiece of this quaint place is the pub and restaurant. I felt like I was at Downton Abbey — the British feel was so unique and interesting.
I travel a lot — and «included breakfasts» are usually average at best. This place serves a full hot — made to order breakfast that is fantastic. And as for that «rude» old man — I wanted to tip our breakfast server, but all I had is a $ 20 — the old man gave me several dollars. I’m sorry, but I strongly disagree with the negative comments as my experience was just the opposite.

Wonderful cozy Hotel I would stay at again and again. Nice huge bathtubs in room, full kitchen, comfortable beds, free home made breakfast and overall good feeling. Also very close parking is also a huge plus.

Let me preface this review by saying that the owners are great people. The wife also underwent major surgery days before we arrived, so that may have something to do with the quality of the stay – but I don’t think so. We stayed here because higher-​quality-​branded hotels were not available for a 6-​day stay due to an architect convention in Denver. So, we thought we’d give it a shot since the reviews were better than average.
I am in a wheelchair, and I needed a handicap-​accessible room, so we were booked into the Cortez room, the only unlt with «handicap-​accessible features.» The sink is separate from the bathroom, and is wheelchair friendly. The combined toilet and shower room is approximately 8 feet by 5 feet, and a large door swings inward. It is impossible to enter the bathroom in a wheelchair and shut the door, so no privacy is afforded for wheelchair users. There is also no room to park a wheelchair beside the toilet, so transferring may be difficult for some. The toilet is a Bemis Handicap toilet that is quite tall. For me, it was a little too tall. The raised «roll-​in shower» is about 5 feet by 3 feet, has a 4-​inch lip, and has a curved floor. This IS NOT a roll-​in shower. I was unable to shower without assistance, and even then it was difficult to get in and out. The shower bench provided had no rubber feet, so it slid while transferring. The temperature of the water in the shower fluctuates from cold to hot and back to cold with little notice. One morning there was no hot water.
The housekeeping is very poor, and vacuuming, cleaning, and other activities were only performed if specifically requested. It was not unusual for beds to not be made, toilets not cleaned and the room not vacuumed. This is purely a straighten up, and change the towels out operation. The sheets were not changed during our stay. I thought if I left a generous tip, then more attention would be paid – it made no difference.
The room is in great need of a renovation. The comforter and decorative pillows appear to be non-​washable, and the furniture is dated. The carpet is old and stained. The room was very large, so plenty of room for a wheelchair to maneuver.
The mattresses were older than the hotel itself, and were very uncomfortable. We overheard one guest asking if they forgot to put the mattress on the box spring.
We had to deal with moths in the room daily. We were not sure where they kept coming from, but we also noticed they were in the office and dining area.
The courtyard is very pretty, with a few rabbits and bunnies hopping around the grounds. They were fun to watch and were not a nuisance. There was also a Robin on the grounds with 3 recently-​hatched babies. They were at eye level, so it was fun to watch their progress.
The hotel is in a beautiful, quiet area, is centrally located, is surrounded by pretty meadows, and provides quick access to Denver and Boulder.

This place is the worst. I would’ve given it a zero if I could. For starts the rooms are dated, smelled like mold, and are very dusty. Tried to draw a nice bath in the tub, but you could only fill it halfway before the hot water ran out. The kitchen counters were dirty, the trash cans were not emptied. It was cold outside so we made sure the windows and doors were shut tight but we could still feel a draft, I suspect it was the old windows and bad seals on the doors. Secondly the owner was very rude our entire stay. Hung out outside of the rooms, hovered over us at breakfast. He was an awful old man. We checked out early and went down the street closer to Boulder and had way more success with a room at the Courtyard. I would never come back here and would tell everyone to stay away. I recommend you stay away.

The hotel and rooms are cute but the man owner is very rude!
They make it a point to tell you they don’t make money on the drinks and food and make you feel unwelcome well maybe because you’re not welcome. If I were you I would find another place to stay.

We recently were picked up at Rocky Mountain Regional Airport by delightful hotel proprietor John Odde.
What a treat! Mr. Odde’s pride in his business is obvious and deserved.
The rooms are TOO comfortable! I slept through my alarm, 3 phonecalls and 2 sets of knocks on my door!
Each room has a fireplace, and they’re all delightfully decorated by Mrs. Odde, who hails from England – which is reflected in the room décor.
The restaurant, Wildflowers, offers delicious typical English cuisine – but no boiled steaks here, folks!
The bar features a tremendous variety of Scotch whiskies. Odde son, Jonathan is «The Sommelier of Whisky» and shares knowledge in the differences in Scotch whiskeys, etc.
While there, we were sharing the outdoor area with a «fleet» of adorable bunnies, who live nearby.
After one visit, we certainly will endeavor to head through Broomfield on future flights!
