History

Established in 2009.

Upon meeting in 2008, Chelsea graciously offered to let Susanna shadow her personal chef work to learn how to start her own business. A year later, we re-bonded over tea in a four-hour brainstorming extravaganza.

Back to Basics Kitchen was born then out of a shared dedication to delicious food, nutrition education, and community building that’s characterized our relationship from the start.

In June 2011, with much support from our community– including a successful Kickstarter campaign and an Institute for Integrative Nutrition grant– we opened our own commercial kitchen in Lafayette. We transitioned out of our catering and full on into the meal service then.
