Completely incompetent. My co-​op hired them to repair damage caused by a previous owner to the window trim.
1. After measuring, they came back, started ripping my trim out, and midway through they realized they had the wrong size trim (why even bother measuring?). No one called me or contacted me about shen they would return — I had to harass them almost every day and they finally came back more than a week later.
2. They did such a slop job. The sloppiest caulking I have ever seen and they left caulk stains in a lot of places.
3. They left incredibly sharp metal shards everywhere and was very lucky I did not step on anything.
Would not recommend using this company.

These guys seem ok for basic glass switch. Anything more complex, like entire window switch out and they are cowboys. They never respond to messages or show up to appointments. They do not honor their warranties. The windows in our apartment were under warranty, they wasted time, didn’t show up to appointments until the warranty was up. One guy did show up and said that the terrible seals around the windows and the failure of the windows to latch close «wasn’t a problem». Never heard from them again. I really don’t trust the positive reviews. Not here and especially now on other sites.

This company is completely incompetent. Our company hired them on a townhouse renovation to re-​install two stained glass windows that had been removed for restoration, as well as to install a fixed panel of glass inside one of the windows to protect the antique glass panel from steam, etc. in a bathroom. The company installed one of the stained glass windows upside down and nailed the window into the frame so it couldn’t be removed or placed right-​side up. In the bathroom the window was installed crooked, with screws haphazardly driven through a brand new custom made mahogany frame, and the screw heads left sticking up out of the frame. They came back without scheduling with our project manager and installed the fixed panel of glass before the inside of the window box had been finish painted, and after installing the panel they caulked it with the caulking skills of a three year old. We initially asked them to come back to correct the work, but finally decided that we simply didn’t want them back on the property and paid other contractors to correct their mistakes. I would recommend staying far, far away from these jokers.

Don’t waste your time or money, I went to have a single glass replaced. With that said I spoke to the gentleman saying I was coming from staten island and my wife and new born was home sitting upstairs (because it was cold…)i was willing to wait a few hours and if any way I can wait… absolutely not he tells me thanks Lerenzo: but the kicker is i was told 50 bucks to change the glass about a week earlier being i couldnt get there sooner due to work and one of the glass was still in tact I went as soon as I was able to get there
so when I get there the price went up to 65. it isn’t the money it’s the fact I was told something different and it wasn’t even right glass.
So now I got some basic fishtank glass for my window. Maybe I’ll figure out ow to throw some goldfish inbetween the glass

Complete incompetence. I simply gave up after waiting more than 5 weeks for them to get back to me with a quote for the repair. Each time I called I was promised a return call with an update. Nothing — ever. Call a different company if you need a window repaired.

super shotty (rude) customer service. after the super rushed and borderline impatient phone conversation I had to book the appointment, I took the entire day off to wait for the 1−5pm offered timeframe to get window screen measurements. at 12:11pm someone called me versus buzzed my apartment where I was waiting for them. then I called them back 20minutes later, and the guy (with an attitude) said he had just left the area. I told him we had a 1pm-​5pm window and he got agitated and said that he showed up — even though my exact address was provided and never attempted to be reached. he then offered to try to send someone else and call me back later, but I got such a negative vibe from the conversation I would never have one of their people come to measure as I wouldn’t want that negativity in my space. it’s too bad, as this could be a really thriving business for the owner. I hadn’t come across many companies that provide these services (now I will be looking) and either someone at this company is cutting corners providing bad pay, or the people hiring don’t care who they hire or discuss customer service ethics. disappointing.

Hate to write poor reviews but I felt I needed to share my experience. We have used Windowfix in the past and were very satisfied with the service and pricing. When our tempered glass double pane window broke, I called to request an estimate. Got a quote which seemed reasonable and tried to order the replacement pane. Lou said he’d send someone to the location to measure the glass, as it was a custom order. Few days later… no one came. Called to ask about the service. Said we were scheduled for the next day. No one came. Hmmm felt like they forgot about us. Emailed again. After the technician arrived and measured the glass, we received the «real» quote to get the glass replaced. It was more than DOUBLE the original estimate. Now, I understand estimates are hard to pinpoint with just a picture, but since glass is your business, shouldn’t your quotes be more accurate? I asked for an explanation as to why the price was so much more, and the answer was «this is what management told me». I think responses to valid customer questions need to be better than that. I was not asking for a discount, just an explanation. Tried to contact the owner directly (as he has responded to some other negative reviews on Unilocal), but he didn’t pick up and I didn’t receive a call back. Not wasting any more time with this company… sad because I used to really like them and recommended them to our commercial neighbors.

I used window fix last year to replace a broken window and was very happy with the service but recently one of my window panes broke so naturally I went back to them. I called 2 times and never received a return phone call back then emailed through web site and again no response. I guess replacing a glass pane was not worth their time.

We used Window-​Fix to replace just the glass in 6 of our windows 3 years ago and another 15 this past Summer and have to say I am shocked at these low Unilocal reviews as we had a very positive experience. We live in an old loft building in Carroll Gardens with 15 foot high ceilings with 37 windows that were installed in the late 80’s and since had all started cloud over and crack over. I am an architect and had called in a variety of vendors that I had used in the past and had replaced windows in our building before.
Initially Window-Fix’s pricing seemed outrageously high compared to other vendors as they were the only one requiring interior scaffolding and we almost skipped them altogether but then I spoke with the CEO Ernie who was very reasonable and attentive and ultimately we came to terms we could all agree to. Window-Fix’s installers were very professional and fast (and pretty creative dealing with some unexpected surprises such as several windows where the trim had been installed after the window so it was impossible to remove the windows… yet they found a way without damaging our trim).
Our biggest concern was that window seals might fail again over time (which happened to a few people who had windows replaced by other vendors) but after 3 years we had no problems which is why we decided to use Window-​Fix again (we also priced out New Image who seemed very nice and others in our building had good luck with but ultimately we went with Window-​Fix).
One huge advantage we found with Window-​Fix was that their factory is relatively close to our apartment which didn’t seem important until they discovered a defect in one of their new windows after they arrived for the install. They were able to call over to factory (even though it was a Saturday) and have another window made while continuing the install. Just as they finished the last window the replacement window arrived so there was no delay and no need to schedule another appointment. I can’t speak to their actual window system replacement or screens, but for glass replacement they were phenomenal. I uploaded some before and after photos to show how dramatic the difference was for us. I highly recommend them.

Window Fix responded promptly to our inquiry, making an appointment for their rep to examine our windows and prepare an estimate. When the estimate was received, we paid a deposit, the materials were ordered and an appointment was made for the repairs on three very large windows to be done. The service timeframe was further narrowed the morning of the visit, which was helpful, and the service techs arrived right on schedule. They did the repairs with relative speed given the age and condition of our windows, and completed the job, all the while maintaining a pleasant and courteous demeanor. They were also very tidy. Although Window Fix’s phone manner may seem snippy (this is New York, after all), the company did everything we asked of them and our windows now work better than at any time in the 13 years we have owned this apartment. We recommend Window Fix and are happy to do so. Should the need arise we would call on them again without reservation.

These guys installed sound reducing windows without even looking at the windows I already had. In short, the windows they installed have the same rating as the ones I had previously. You’d think they would have checked. Trying to get the sales guy to come to look at them was a nightmare. I didn’t realize what the problem was for a long time. I thought the issue might be the way they were installed. Weeks would go by before I would hear from him and then he’d cancel.
In the end I paid a huge sum of money for no improvement. Don’t use them.

On Nov. 1^st, the company estimator came and inspected the two wood windows that needed repairs in my apartment. The guy arrived surprisingly early around 1pm (wait time scheduled between 1pm and 5pm). He was professional, appeared very detailed oriented in taking pictures of my windows with his iPad and noting the measurements. It took the company a couple days to get back to me after I made a phone call asking where’s my quote. I was horrified when I opened the email and they quoted me almost $ 1,000 (including tax) to shim, replace jam liners and change balances. Are you kidding me!!! They are price gouging this job! Also, there’s a $ 45 fee to come in for an estimate. I was aware, but took a chance since one of the apartments used them to fix a similar window problem a few years ago and I assumed their quote will be reasonable. I should have listened to the past reviews on Unilocal instead I gave this company benefit of the doubt. AND, a red flag should have been raised, when the estimator and the folks at the office asked me who will be responsible in paying for the repairs… the building management or me. Does it matter? Do they quote different prices based on who pays? WTF!!! There are MUCH reasonable prices out there. Don’t bother calling them because you will end up wasting your time waiting for them to come back on a joke of a quote and wasting your $ 45. If I can give them a half star I would only for the estimator arriving early and being professional.

Avoid this company, they are unethical and dishonest. I called to have a window repaired and was told that they would charge $ 45 no matter what, and my window repair should have been about $ 100, so I agreed. The repair guy shows up very late, then informs me that their minimum is $ 150!!! No one at Window-​Fix mentioned this, as I would have not used them for the repair. I called them to find out why this is not mentioned, and was told that they don’t discuss pricing on the phone. I pointed out that this is unethical and misleading, and they then agreed to send me a refund of $ 45. Well, they still haven’t sent the refund. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!
