The owner or manager of this place was so rude to his employee in front of a bunch of customers it was embarrassing. I felt so sorry for the employee that I won’t go back based on principle. No manager/owner should treat their employees like that.

The peanut butter ice is absolutely incredible. If you’re lactose intolerant it is a nice alternative to ice cream. Downside? Pricey.

Uncle Louie G. is a fabulous place to just stop on the way home after a long day and just stop and get an ice cream cone. Immature, I know. but do it every once and a while. FIVESTARS!

2 Sunday’s ago… after lunch with my girlfriend… we were driving down Smith St… or is it up… anywhoo…I was CRAVINGGGGGGGGG cold stone creamery ice cream. and was actually on our way to one… when I spotted this dude standing in front of an open window… eating a huge cone with what looked like Mint Chocolate Ice Cream… and he was drooling over it…(his poor girlfriend had no chance of getting a lick in!) — well maybe later… just not on the ice cream… Take note — it was POURINGRAIN… I had my friend literally slam on her brakes and pull over… Sooo… pouring rain… and there is a line of people cued up for Uncle Louie G’s ice cream… it has to be good… I’m a huge fan of banana ice cream… so that was a done deal… although I was very impressed at the extensive menu!!! goodness… gracious… I need to study before my next visit… so I don’t feel so overwhelmed! I had one scoop of chocolate thrown in for good measure with my banana scoops… and enjoyed the most delicious waffle cone along with it… Very creamy… very dreamy… smooth…and truly an authentic banana/chocolate flavour… not that artificial/plastic imitation flavour… you know what I mean… and for $ 5…not bad… 2 weeks later… my craving has shifted to Uncle Louie G’s… I will be back!

No one was even within view to help me, so this location lost what would’ve been a very lucrative business arrangement.

Strawberry cheesecake icecream is soooo good. Plus, it’s tons of fun to go to this place because there are inevitiably a few very stoned kids milling around who are really enjoying their ice cream.

On a recent sweltering Brooklyn day when the pavement just seemed to be on fire, Uncle Louie G’s served as the best possible reprieve from the inferno. This tiny location is nothing but a sliding window over a menu on busy Smith Street but, from within they serve the most refreshing frozen drinks and tasty ice cream I have yet to have in Brooklyn. They have an entire 5′ tall board packed with ice cream and Italian ice flavors and a separate menu for sundaes, shakes, ice cream sodas and ice cream bars. My absolute favorite thing there(compared to my bf’s giant container of ice cream) that I cannot wait to get again in a difference flavor is a «freeze». It’s a glass filled with Italian ice, blended with seltzer water and consumed through a straw. Sooo tasty and and it instantly cooled me down! The prices are extremely fair for their generous portions of exceptionally delicious ice cream and the service was friendly. I cannot wait to go back next weekend!

Do you remember about 18 years ago when Italian Ices were the only thing you ate in the summer! — at that time, you walked in group to your corner pizzeria and asked for a rainbow or a cherry or a blue(what was blue anyway?). Well, relieve your youth and head over to Uncle Louie G’s! They have dozens of flavors of the stuff, plus ice creams and shakes if you want ‘em.

Remember those random few days when it was 90 something degrees and only april? To cool off one Sunday evening, I decided to try Uncle Louie G’s. The window has a certain charm. The sugar free ice was delicious. Tart, tangy, sweet, and cheap! Tip: take a spoon when you get a small, as the paper cup thing got soggy and gross. Also, I think the small has something like 30 calories? Yea, I actually went on their website and researched it. Although, I ruined my attempt to enjoy a guilt-free treat by taking bites of my boyfriend’s choc. chip cookie dough ice cream. He got mad at me for taking too much and not leaving enough for him. He got a large, so I don’t really understand how 2 spoonfuls was too much, but I digress…

3.75 stars Like others have said the prices here are a little high, though not astronomical, expect to pay about $ 5. They have a ton of flavors, more than you’ll find almost anywhere else. The ice cream wasn’t bad. I got a great sounding ice cream, peanut butter cookie dough. I was disappointed that in a scoop of the ice cream there was only 2 pieces of cookie dough! In terms of the location, the girls working there weren’t too friendly, there is only a window with no places to sit(or stand) and eat, and there isn’t even a trash can around in case you wanted to sit on the curb or stand around the area and eat. If the girls were sweet, they put a bench(or even a long counter) and a trash can outside I would certainly bump them up to a solid 4. If they dropped their prices 50 – 75 cents and made the ice cream 15% better they would certainly be considered for a 5.

the husband and i stop by this place every time we’re in the neighborhood. actually, scratch that– yesterday we were in greenpoint and utilized the brilliance of the unlimited metrocard to satisfy our ices craving. he got some crazy mix of 3 flavors, and i experienced the magic of the sugar free chocolate. it was the first insanely hot day of the season and there was a bit of a line, but the two girls behind the window had a sense of humor about it and were eating ices themselves while serving the overheated cobble hill moms. it was good enough that, after walking toward prospect park and finishing our first ice, i had to drag him away from the line of the union st location. minus one star for the lack of locations in manhattan, and for the fact that 2 ices cost $ 5.50

um, hello. i just had a life-changing experience today at uncle louie g. i’ve never been to one of their other outposts, but it was a warm evening and i was trekking down smith street. i’m trying to curb my troublesome sugar problems but i wanted something sweet. so with doubt in my heart and a five dollar bill in hand, i walked up to ulg’s and asked if they had sugar free italian ices. the cute girl at the window said yes only in cherry and lemon but emphasized that they were REALLY good and she gets them all the time instead of the regular, sugarfied ices. i thought she was just a good employee until i started walking and eating this amazing thing. first of all, the texture of this italian ice was incredible. it was smooth and thick and not at all melty. almost like an icy marzipan. and the flavor was absolutely mindblowing. it was better than any italian ice i’ve ever had. and i love the goddamn things, so i’ve had many in my day. and it was sugar-free! i’m going to set up a yurt outside of ulg’s and just live on this shit like air. so amazing.
