I just Received an amazing cut and Style From Miriam! I dont have the best experiences with stylist because of my hair type and the kind of establishments i visit. Time Studio has an versatile group of stylist that as i was getting my hair done did impeccable work on various hair types.
Miriam was kind and listened to what i wanted. i was skeptical and always hope for the best but expect the worst but she turned it out! i have never been more happier with my hair. it looks and feels healthy and the style is so cute i immediatley got complements from friends and family. I really havent left a salon with a genuine smile on my face in Ages! Go to Time Studio and Ask For Miriam!

I have never met a better group of people under one roof doing hair. Their relaxers are skillfully applied, their iron work is on point and they way they style out natural hair or dreads is AMAZING! if you have worked there for the past two months as a booth renter while my new salon is being built out and I have literally been blow away. Its just kind of unreal to that they have the skill, the team dynamic, kindness and friendliness that you just don’t find in other salons. If you have a kink, bend, curl or you just want a different experience where the stylists actually care about not just the look, but the health of your hair this is the place to be!

I was an avid customer of Heather and Eric back in the day. In the mid/​late 2000s, I moved from Brooklyn to Atlanta, but would make hair appointments with either Heather or Eric during my annual trips to Brooklyn. However, about 7 years ago, I went natural for a few years and then finally returned to perming my hair. Imagine my dismay when I visited Brooklyn, only to find Heather and Eric are no longer there! Alas! If anyone knows where I can find either of them, please let me know. My son is getting married in a couple of months and I need a fantabulous short hairstyle! Thanks!

Referred by a friend, I decided to give her referral and Time Studio a try.

My 3 star review is based on Overall experience with the pros and cons in mind. Let me just say, my stylist was very pleasant, easy going, and good at cutting and styling short hair (it appears to be her niche).
However, the irony and joke of it all is that time management is not her strong suit, don’t be deceived by the name of the salon. It is far from timely. I have made early appointments and evening appointments, weekday and weekend, and still spend minimally 4 hrs sitting, the styling itself can be another hour.
Job well done to my stylist making me look presentable, but if you are a woman on the go, this place will slow you down regardless of an appointment.

I never even made it into the shop. What a terrible experience over the phone. I called the shop to find out more information before booking and appointment, the young lady that answered the phone was sort of polite but sounded like she just rolled out of bed. The barber that I called to speak to would not even come to the phone and answer my questions. So I had to relay my message through the receptionist, which resulted in a 3^rd party conversation and it was very irritating. I decide to ignore all of these terrible signs and request and appointment anyway. The receptionist put me on hold for 7 minutes. I was so annoyed that I hung up and called back. When finally got through, she gave me an appointment but told me that children are not allowed in the salon due to limited seating because I mentioned that I have a child that will be with me. She told me that was a «problem». I have never heard anything so disgusting and pretentious in my entire life! The people in this salon have a lot to learn about customer service. What a horrible experience. I suggest you take your money and go somewhere else, which is exactly what I did and received excellent service and a great haircut for ½ the price of this terrible place.

Ironic that this place is called time studio because it seems like no one here has any sense of time or professionalism.
If you come on a Saturday expect to wait 30 – 45 minutes past your scheduled appointment time just to be washed. Then once washed another 15 – 20 to be styled.
In terms of the actually services. I am natural and they use wayyyyyyy too much heat in my opinion. The blow drying job that the stylist do is lack luster still leaves you roots very puffy then they put you under the dryer then blow dry you again. With natural hair is all about the blow dry! When it comes to styling they continue to use excessive heat… who still uses hot Combs!
Overall three starts because my hair came out decent. But I definitely won’t be a repeat customer.

After wearing hair extensions for a few months, it was way over due to be removed. I’ve been yearning to get a good haircut, but didn’t have a particular stylist to go to – especially one that specializes in haircuts and styles. I stumbled upon Time Studio, booked an appointment and was very pleased with what they’ve done and how it turned out. They were very professional, diligent and insightful.
I’m particular and have been discombobulated with past hairstylists (no names) and how my hair had turned out, but I’d have to say that I am/​was a happy camper. I would confidently recommend this salon.

My last visit was my second time ever going to Time. Amanda did my hair. The staff is very friendly and professional and I felt comfortable asking Amanda questions and she didn’t mind answering them. The shampoo lady (I can’t remember her name) is amazing!!! She has magic fingers when shampooing my hair. I needed a trim and shaping to my afro. They are pricey but if you’re like me, and do not need to go to the salon often (I go to a salon about once a year), then it’s worth it. My overall experience was great and I would return.

I’ve finally found a barber. A reliable, professional haircut for $ 25, and in a timely fashion. Right outside of a C train stairwell.

After a month of experiencing an emotional hair breakdown I decided it was time to ditch my pageboy cap and get my life together. FIRST of I am very jaded about salons I have yet to find a home after leaving a salon I went to for years. AFTER years of roller setting my thick just below shoulder hair I jad a bad cut run in with some thinning scissors which ended up resulting me cutting all my hair off. The regrowth process has been less than enthusiastic considering I jhave no loyalty to a stylist and ratger wash my hair in the kitchen sink. None the less I stumbled upon Stacey at time studio via Unilocal.I want to thank the person who took the time to write the review or I would have never found her. She listened never laughed or judged when I said please cut what is necessary to allow my hair to contain to grow without sacrificing the length I have attained. My hair is flawless and I have found a new home. It was Not as pricey as I thought it would be wash style trim was 68 $ I was so prepared to 150 $ after the reviews… smh thanks Tami b. I have found a new home.

Have you ever been in a situation when your regular stylist is totally booked and while you won’t just trust your hair with anyone you’re somewhat desperate?
I found myself in that position yesterday and called all over Brooklyn to see if I could get appointments at some of the better known Salons. I made my calls at 12:30 on a Friday afternoon desperately seeking a wash wrap and style because I had to sing last night (yes I sing)… Anywhoo I called Time Studio and had a pleasant conversation with the receptionist (so sorry I forgot her name). She was extremely professional and was able to get me at 3:30 appt with Stacy.
The only not so great thing in this review has nothing to do with Time but everything to do with parking! Lol! Finding parking is no joke folks. Give yourself an additional half hour to find a spot and I’m talking about weekdays during the day– if it’s a weekend just take public transportation or a cab– you will thank me later :).
Now let’s get back to Time shall we? I meet Stacy. whose hair is gorgeous and colored a really cool purple (yes purple but almost lavender maybe?) and she’s sweet! As she’s working on her client I sit for maybe 15 min before we begin (not bad at all). I believe she may have used aveda products on me which I love (though I forgot to ask) when she washed and conditioned my hair. I must say she massaged the heck out of my scalp which I totally totally love! It relaxed me instantly and it was awesome.
When it was time for me to sit under the dryer we went downstairs to another area and can I just say they get 5 stars alone just for their chairs!!! I’m talking about cushioned arm chairs that look like they belong in your living room! I sat under that dryer and not one time did I have to adjust the way I was sitting because of a numb– butt!!! It was so comfortable I fell asleep several times!!! For someone like me who has thick hair and it takes forever to dry this was a plus!!!
So now I’m in her chair and Stacy asks what I’m looking for as far as style… I explain what I like and she gets to it! Stacy alone gets 5 stars for having some of the most skilled and light hands I’ve ever experienced in my life. Since I have short hair I almost anticipate a burn here or there as the flat iron gets too close to my scalp but Stacy!!! I could barely feel her working at ALL and not one burn! It was weird and awesome all at the same time! For a while my back was turned to the mirror so I had no idea of how fabulous my hair was going to look but when she turned me around and styled my curls with her fingers I knew!!!
It was exactly my style and it was edgy/​funky just the way I like it! The overall time from start to finish was two hours. Not bad especially since I sat under the dryer for an hour and 5 minutes!!!
I have another stylist, her name is Stacy, she’s talented and she works at Time Studio :) But let’s keep this between you and I (wink)!

Okay. So I thought long and hard about posting this but, I realized there was no excuse for my hair to be like this. I was on an extensive search since August 2013 searching for a replica of my hair stylist in Charlotte, NC. Cleanliness, Start my hair within 15 minutes of the appt time, and can actually cut and style short hair. I commenced seeing Amanda 3÷29÷14. I was never truly satisfied with her work but at least I had enough hair to fix once I got home. Long story short, Prior to my last visit, I emailed the videos and pictures for the hairstyle (see Like a River Salon in Atlanta photos– the owner post video of her techniques) I wanted prior to my appointment with Amanda. I was aware I needed to cut my hair shorter more so for definition not because it was to long. The hairdresser stated she knew how to do it. NO problem. Long story short the hairdresser scalped me and took to much hair off. The length is to short for my face shape. The cut is not a good cut regardless of the length. It’s not layered nicely. I walked out with a heavy heart deeply unsatisfied with my hairstyle and stuck with hair so short I have to wait for it to grow back another two inches on the top and sides addition to my family members and friends stating it was an epic FAIL. A small patch of hair at my neckline was shed off also. Another hairstylist that did implement the hairstyle I wanted the month before executed the same hairstyle I wanted fabulously because I was receiving compliments from everyone asking who did my hair. I didn’t return because she only do appts on Tues/​Wed from 9 – 1 only (at work) and Saturday you need to be there by 430AM. Basically be prepared to spend 7 – 9 hours. Who wants to do that!!! Amanda is very nice and I would recommend her if you have a medium bob and long hair for simple styling. I would not recommend her to cut and style short hair. The cleanliness and keeping appt times deserve 4 stars and it’s also the major reason I kept returning even though I wasn’t truly satisfied with my hair.

Janelle no longer works at TIME Studio and so I no longer go to this salon. I had a great experience during the times I visited TIME Studio, but ONLY because of Janelle.
In a nutshell, the atmosphere at TIME is stuffy. The majority of the people who visit/​work there have very pompous attitudes and are stuck-​up. It seems that if you are not driving a luxury vehicle and carrying an expensive designer bag, you’re frowned upon which is annoying and quite an «elitist» way of thinking, There also seemed to be a disconnect between the stylists/​technicians and management once Donovan and Latreace became the owners. There was always drama, which was obvious. It did not appear that the stylists/​technicians were treated with respect either.
Some stylists only accept cash only payments which is surprising in a day and age where everything is electronic. I hated this! To summarize, too catty, too expensive for the drama and nonsense you have to see and just too bourgeois!
Janelle is currently working out of The Neal Farinah Salon (owned by Beyonce’s lead hair sylist) also located in Fort Greene and this salon is AMAZING!

Amanda is amazing! She was so patient with me and was comfortable with my decision to go back to perming my hair. She was concerned every step of the way about hair care and that too me is important. My hair came out great as expected. Im excited to call her my new stylist! Go see Amanda!

Hello All,
I went to Time Studio for a hair cut and it was really a GREAT experience. Sunshine really listened to what I wanted and gave me exactly that and I must say I will be back! I also have received so many wonderful comments concerning my hair:).

I love Time Salon… My stylist is Janelle and she’s absolutely amazing. I’ve been there at least six times and I have always left there satisfied thanks to Janelle. Definitely book an appointment with her. She’s AMAZE!!!

I wouldn’t get anything but the basics here (wash & style) and ONLY if I were in a pinch.
Customer service could use a huge boost, there’s plenty of staring but not much smiling. They should also take the time out to interview new clients, get a feel for that person’s hair and hair care regimen before sending them to the sink.
Speaking of the sink, my washer was GREAT, my scalp has never been so clean after just a basic wash. Her work alone added an additional star to my review. The hair care products used in the shop aren’t bad, but they apply it pretty indiscriminately. There doesn’t seem to be much thought involved during that part of the process.
In the end my hair came out okay. I didn’t care for the style. Although my experience was «okay», the price was outrageous (a few bucks shy of $ 100) and certainly not worth it for a basic wash, blow & style. Other than the price, I didn’t see much that would qualify this salon as «high-​end.»

Still on the hunt for the perfect salon, but…
I had Janelle and she was amazing. Styled my hair and gave me a great cut (or so I think; I got my hair curled so I’m not sure how it looks when straightened). I just stayed in that salon way too long. I get inpatient if I stay in one place for too long. plus it’s hella expensive. my total bill + tip was $ 200. not the business.
