I’ve never cared for broccoli until I tasted these tacos. Amazingly savory and able to make vegan(no cheese) and gluten free(corn shells). The ambiance is great here but it can get crowded pretty quickly. Happy hour is a bit of a joke(I think it was $ 1 off cocktails) but given the service, ambiance, and the tacos, I still suggest this place for drinks and a bite after work.

Delightful place with delightful bartenders and delicious food. We each had a few cocktails(I had the Algonquin and the Walk the Line – the latter at the suggestion of the bartender and it was awesome) and split some food: Broccoli tacos: they really are that good Fried broccoli: delicious, but got soggy pretty quickly Artichoke hearts: can’t help but be awesome Fries: always fries Definitely will return here.

Lovely spot that is now on my go-to list. Went for brunch with a girlfriend and was so impressed with the simple and well crafted dishes. I got the Chuck Norris scramble — fantastic mix of fluffy eggs and crunchy veggies. Salad that came with it had a great mustard dressing, but it was almost swimming in it. Friend got the broccoli tacos, also an excellent balance of flavors and crunch with hard taco shell with black bean hummus and soft taco shell around. 4 stars because our server was very inattentive and not helpful with our questions on the menu. However, we ended up chatting with another woman(the manager? or owner?). She was great, answered all our questions and made us feel so welcome. Fantastic place for a date, drinks, or catching up with a friend.

Had a solid brunch with 8 folks total here. Seating was accommodated. Service was good. Good could have been better. Eggs were over salted. Steak was not browned. Prices were a bit on the high side for what we got, especially considering the carelessness of preparation. But it was still good. I’d come back. Pancake with ricotta side was most memorable. Wish they held more salt from the chuck Norris.

I like that it is very cozy and they have good service and good food and cocktails. I like the inside a lot it doesn’t look like the typical bar or restaurant a bit elegant and seems like a bistro French coffee bar. Try the broccoli tacos please and the margaritas yummy!

This place seems to be a bit confused about what vibe it’s going for. Conveniently located literally RIGHT next to the Lafayette Ave C stop, this restaurant features a substantial bar area where people basically don’t talk to each other while they nurse their drinks either on the bar stools or the lounge near the entrance. The inside seating area opens up underneath a massive sun roof and windows strategically placed at the highest point on the wall before it’s basically just ceiling. The décor is typical New American(aka wooden paneling, shades of brown and more brown, and white walls). It’s sort of romantic at least when the restaurant isn’t packed, but then, once it does become packed, it becomes rather difficult to have a really substantial conversation. On the plus side, though, the food is really REALLY good. Unilocal reviewers suggested the double decker broccoli tacos, and boy, were they a good choice. The black bean hummus was savory, the broccoli was tender, and HELLO can you ever go wrong with tacos? We also had the General Tso’s grilled chicken sandwich(that sauce was SPICY and definitely… not General Tso’s but it was delicious so, however questionable that name is, redemption exists) and the cheeseburger. Solid solid solid. We also split a bottle of Verdejo because on Wednesdays, bottles of wine AREHALFPRICE. Bring a date, order a bottle, and you won’t even care that they give you candles for your table before the sun has set while you’re sitting directly underneath the sun roof.

The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because I didn’t really have time to scope out the place, so I have no idea what it looks like beyond the front bar area. Came here for cocktails on a Friday night around 9pm. While it was sufficiently crowded, my friends who got there before me had secured a decent amount of space by the front window. Its pretty odd that the storefront is right in front of the stairs to a train station, but makes for good people watching. Cocktails seemed priced as you would expect, maybe as low as $ 11. While my drink seemed well prepared it didn’t take long to get which was great.

A friend and I needed a quick bite before heading to a show at BAM(RadioLoveFest!). Another friend of mine who lives in the area recommended No. 7 as a solid pre-BAM dinner-spot. I had thought that No. 7 was a quick bite; however, I was wrong! We arrived at 6:50 and had a show to get to by 7:30. When we told the host, he sat us immediately and our server ensured we ordered right away and basically gave us the check when she gave us our food. We were out of there by 7:20 with plenty of time to walk over to BAM. I really appreciated the service’s accommodations to get us in/out. So lesson learned: No. 7 is a nice sit-down place where you should make reservations in advance — especially on a Friday night!(We got lucky because the table was technically reserved, but because we had to leave so quickly, they were able to squeeze us in) Now, the food! Since we were in a rush, we couldn’t order any of the entrees. But, not to fear because the broccoli taco starters were amazing! Seriously, who knew broccoli tacos could have so much flavor. Each of us ordered our own serving(each serving includes two nice-sized tacos) and fries for the table. Yum, yum, yum! So happy we were able to squeeze in this treat before an incredible show at BAM.

In a nutshell: great food, unfriendly service. Came early on a Saturday evening and waited at the bar for some friends to join me. When I asked about a table the curmudgeon of a host acted like I was crazy for not realizing reservations were in order even though the dining room was still empty at this point. When my friends arrived, we were seated, begrudgingly, by the host but first had to assure him we were going to order food as he reminded us, «It’s dinner time and you know… we do get busy.» Basically there’s a nice/classy way of saying things like this to guests and there’s the crappy/rude way and this guy was all about the attitude. Even our server seemed cold and to have a chip on his shoulder. The broccoli tacos are as amazing as everyone says. One friend got the fish tacos which were delicious as well and the other got a burger and fries. We shared the olives which were good but come marinated in lots of olive oil. Drinks were tasty and the ambiance was nice. This place gets 5 stars for the food but 1 for service.

Should’ve written a review last spring bc it would’ve been better. Boy, have things changed. Multiple opentable reservations available for a cold Friday evening so I picked 545 which is usual time my co-workers and I free up. Mind you I made the res a week before and for a party of 14 so I out down my credit card. I didn’t get a confirmation call(on my cell) until 1230 pm day of but since my cell signal sucks within the hospital, so they had to leave a message. I got the message as we were leaving so I called to say we were on our way. It was 555 pm and the host who picked up the phone insisted it was 6 pm and«reminded» me of our res time. I assured him we’d be there in 5AND that there were members of the party already there. When we walked in he was waiting but not anxiously, more like begrudgingly. He simply walked us back and plopped down our menus without a word. This set the mood for the rest of the meal. A waiter came asking for drink orders and when I said non-alcoholic ginger beer, I was shut down with«it’s not.» I stuck with water. It used to be that the amazing broccoli tacos were on the happy hour menu that you could order anywhere in the restaurant. When I asked for the HH menu, he said«the rules have changed.» Rules, are we in a classroom? We got 5 orders of the broccoli tacos and they’re just like I remember them but the mood made them a little less enjoyable. The brussel sprouts were good also. Grilled octopus didn’t taste that fresh but the fixings on the plate are tasty. General tso’s chicken sandwich is moist and juicy but spicy! I didn’t like the fish tacos; the cheese, strawberries, and fish didn’t get along. Coconut chocolate bread pudding is grainy and the cookie pieces can be too salty. 4 stars for the broccoli tacos but 2 for the service. The food came out fast and correct, just not happily served. Each time I’ve been here it’s for a work dept get-together, we’ll prob pick a diff place from now on.

I crave the broccoli tacos and the fish tacos. Also, that hot sauce is totally drinkable. Delicious food, unfussy, laid-back vibe.

Ive had some really memorable meals here although I used to go a lot more. The chef is great. Favorites were a good steak over an edamame purée with some type of blueberry reduction, a balsamic strawberry cocktail that was really interesting, the white bean purée with sliced cucumbers and bread, and the double decker broccoli tacos are delicious and addicting. I stopped going for brunch because it seems a little ordinary now but I once had a butternut squash puréed grits with a bunch of toppings on the side to add in… poached egg, bacon, broccoli, crispy shallots, greens, etc… really good. The space is beautiful and staff was always great

Broccoli tacos. Broccoli tacos, guys. BROCCOLI. Get your butt over to this cute little place and get yourself some broccoli tacos! These are the tacos you’ve been dreaming of when you think your drunk ass wants Taco Bell – these are seasoned so well with feta and black bean hummus that you would never know there’s no meat. At $ 10 for two fantastic sized tacos, deal! Came in for a friend’s birthday – a group of us managed to snag several seats at the bar counter, and it was great service, great drinks, and broccoli tacos(can you tell I loved them?). I had a couple of the«When a Problem Comes Along»(also had a really stressful day at work, so this was appropriately named) cocktail, and it was absolutely delicious – if you like grapefruit and vodka, this was perfect. The cocktails were moderately priced, and I can’t quite remember the happy hour special, but it was pretty decent. By the end of the happy hour, half a dozen drinks and tacos came out to be around $ 55. Ambiance is really cozy, and it’s conveniently right outside the Lafayette C stop – a perfect pick for those snowy wintry nights when you don’t want to travel too far to get something good to eat. I can’t wait to come back here.

Loved this place! Wandering around Fort Greene while visiting, our daughter popped in to see if they could seat the six of us(at 5 on a Friday) and if the place was not so loud that we wouldn’t be able to enjoy our conversation. Not only were the first two qualifications met, but they nailed it in every other respect as well. Good beer on tap, not a huge number of choices, something to please all the beer drinkers in our group. A nice back bar, not that we happened to order any cocktails but, just sayin’. Great food — tried the double-decker tacos, octopus, chili nuts, and the fabulous(believe it or not) Brussels sprouts. Prices were reasonable and the service was just right. Highly recommended!

I’m a food blogger, or at least I was. At one time I proclaimed No. 7 the best restaurant in the universe, or at least the neighborhood. When it first opened, No. 7 had an innovative menu that was executed to perfection on a regular basis. Now, it’s an interesting spot with disappointing food and a good bar that’s usually too crowded. The food isn’t anywhere near what it used to be. Take the broccoli tempura, for instance. It used to be the size of a baby with a flaky batter that made you gasp. Now it’s the size of a doll’s head and tastes almost burnt. It’s a bummer. It’s a decent spot and I don’t think it’s bad, but every time I’ve gone recently I’ve felt disappointed because it’s nowhere near the height it used to achieve. By itself it’s probably 4 stars, I guess. I just can’t help but remember how awesome it used to be.

I’m not gonna lie. The only reason I came to No. 7 was for one thing: Broccoli Tacos. I saw a post of these unique snacks & I had to give them a try. Photos don’t do it justice so don’t let them deter you. The Double Decker Broccoli Tacos consists of a soft flour tortilla wrapped around a crunchy taco shell & filled with shredded broccoli florets, feta cheese, black bean hummus, & fried shallots. All the ingredients blended well together & provided an amazing flavor in each bite. Two good portion sized tacos were $ 10. They have a beautiful marble-topped bar in the front where you can grab a quick bite & a drink. They have their own cocktails, a good selection of alcohol, & an awesome wine menu. I like a slightly sweet wine so I went for the Lambrusco Reggiano. No. 7 is a comfortable spot with affordable prices. They have a pre-fixe dinner menu: $ 25 for Adults & $ 12 for Children that includes an entrée, a side, & dessert so I will be back to check out what else they have to offer.

I’ve never given one star before bit this place earned it. First of all, the food was boring. We ordered the fried artichokes which included the hard spiny points that got stuck in our throat. We ended up leaving most of it on the side of the plate because it was inedible. We also got the charred octopus which absolutely came out of a can and had very little meat anyway. The fish tacos were the saving grace but were bland and could have used any spices. The service was inattentive and everyone seemed bored to be there. We ordered the above and 2 drinks and the bill was $ 70. We didn’t even order entrees and left. Needless to say, we won’t be coming back and are unfortunately hesitant to try other fort Greene«gems». Not Rays across the street afterwards was, as always, excellent.

What a cute place! I love the layout of this restaurant. Huge bar/open kitchen, high-top bar seats, and an awesome room in the back with skylights and cushy seating. We went here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. We somehow ended up ordering two vegetarian dishes, the fried broccoli tacos and the poached eggs and hash with Brussels sprouts. The poached eggs and«hash» was more like, potatoes, marinated cucumbers, and sprouts with poached eggs on top. It was quite yummy, though they went a bit overboard on the dill. The broccoli tacos were surprisingly good, and I really liked the textures of the black bean hummus sandwiched between the soft tortilla and the crunchy shell. Not the kind of food I usually order, but if more vegetarian food was like this, I could totally get on board! The location of our seats gave us a view into the kitchen, and I enjoyed seeing all the dishes coming out, as they all looked pretty good. Side note, the chicken salad looks like an entire head of lettuce was used in there. A salad does not equal a light meal here.

I love this spot. They have a cool ambiance — two skylights in the back, and a huge wrap-around booth. Bar seating near the front as well as a couple of high-tops. We sat at the high-tops because we didn’t have a reservation, which was fine. A bit more private. We didn’t plan on doing a vegetarian brunch, but that’s just the way things happened. I had the broccoli tacos, which sound terrible but are amazing. They’re double wrapped(like authentic tacos are), with a crunchy inside a soft(which I guess is how Taco Bell does it). The black bean hummus on the bottom alone makes it worth getting. Perfect amount of food and reasonably priced at $ 10. Also tried the poached eggs and hash. They offer the pulled pork or vegetarian Brussels sprouts option(both at $ 12 for some reason). It’s over a cucumber salad with fingerling potatoes. It was nice and refreshing, and the potatoes made it a bit heavy, so probably a good idea to offer a vegetarian option. However, I didn’t think the Brussels sprouts added much to the dish. They were just kind of there. If they marinated and then roasted them first, would’ve made a world of difference. Also, it wouldn’t be brunch without a Bloody Mary. And theirs is s-p-i-c-y. Lots of horseradish and enough peppercorns that you’ll actually have to chew. Will definitely come back!

More of a 3.5, but I’m definitely rounding down for the odd way they sneak up behind you and clear the plates… They’re a little difficult to get a hold of on the phone and they do not return messages. If you’re looking for a big group, they can accommodate, but just keep trying. Came in with a group of 12 and they were able to save us a section. It was a little difficult arranging this as they said the place was small and had a divider and our group would have to be separated, but they were able to arrange one long table for our group. Regardless, we sat down ordered our drinks and our food. The menu is small, but perfect — has something for everyone and everything sounded great. I had the brussel sprouts and the fish tacos. Depending on what you order, the entrees are small. The fish tacos were good, but they weren’t amazing. There’s definitely a lot more add-in’s than there was actual fish. The brussel sprouts were delicious and I could definitely eat two orders of that alone. Between the two dishes, I was full, but had I not ordered the side, I’d definitely be hungry. The service is a little odd… they do sneak up behind you and pretty much wiggle their way through, without saying excuse me or anything. You’re kind of just surprised when you all of a sudden see a hand on your table that doesn’t belong to you… no plates were dropped on our head and no food was spilled surprisingly, but a little«excuse me» would have been nice. Cute place, but I didn’t really fall in love. Of all the other options in the area, I’d probably keep exploring. Good place for a few drinks, but not so much for a full dinner.
