The Experience Unisex Salon

I went to this salon on sunday and let me tell you, it was one of the best salon experiences I’ve ever had. I was greeted by the beautiful KiKi and I pretty much told her what I wanted and she did her magic!
I went from boring to glam! I have never been so satisfied with a haircut in my entire life!
The salon was gleaming and very clean, not to mention the awesome music playing on the tv. I will definitely be back!

Olivia is the lock creation and design queen!!! I followed her from her previous salons and she is one gifted woman.

Ask for Hameen. He’s a good dude and gives the best cut in Brooklyn. He is very good at accomodating my schedule, even on short notice. The whole crowd and vibe at the Experience are solid.

As a woman with short 4c hair, I’m perpetually wary of getting my hair cut. I’m so glad I found Erik!
I’ve had some pretty bad cuts over the years, but at the encouragement of my mom, girlfriend, and other reviews of this salon I decided to give it a shot, and I’m so thrilled I did!
I called the shop and had the pleasure of speaking with Erik «The Barber». I had read great things about his work here on Unilocal,so I was excited to speak with him. He was really helpful and I made an appointment for a few days later.
When I arrived for my appointment, Erik was awesome! He spent time with me looking at the sample photos I had on my phone of what I wanted my hair to look like, discussed with me the technique he was going to use to cut my hair and made me feel very heard and reassured that I was putting my hair in very capable and skilled hands. At the end of my appointment, I couldn’t have been happier! Erik gave me one of the best hair cuts I’ve had, all while being incredibly approachable, professional, and knowledgable about my hair. I will definitely be returning in a few weeks for a touch up.
Erik is awesome! I highly recommend him :)

I never write reviews but this is so necessary. I’m not from Brooklyn and I was having a hard time finding someone who could lay hair. I wear my hair short and relaxed which can be a challenge bc of edges, and new growth. I found the salon on Unilocal and asked for Kiki. She was extremely patient and professional. She sat me down for a consultation so that I could understand her direction. I got a relaxer and cut in less than two hours!!! That NEVER happens. Not only was she time efficient she laid my hair! The price was accurate too. I would def recommend this salon in the future. Go see Kiki.

So. . This is probably the first review I’ve ever written on any sort of product/​service. . I was given a 12pm appt, the hair tech arrived over an hour late. I thought about having Kiki take care of me instead but for some reason I waited.
My time there was a long drag, I saw customers come and go but I was there for basically the entire day. I left at about 7pm that night. It was my first time at this salon and I left with a bad impression in terms of punctuality and efficiency. But.. I guess the fact that my haircut was actually very very well done I could forget about how tardy and slow the hair tech was.
My advise, go to KIKI she is the absolute best!
At least i had the privilege of watching Kiki the entire day and saw exactly why everyone ‘yelps’ about her!

After reading the reviews, I decided to give this place a try, since I wanted to go from my natural hair to a relaxed short cut.
I was able to make and confirm my appt with Zakeyah who was extremely friendly.
I was super thrilled with the end result, only thing was I was washed out before my sides got totally straight so it made styling a little bit more complicated but I can appreciate why she would wash me out sooner to avoid over-​processing my virgin hair.
I live in jersey so going there JUST to get my hair done is a bit much but if I’m due for a touch up and I plan to be visiting my relatives in Brooklyn, I will go there.

The best hair cut experience I have had in a LONG time! I have always loved to cut my hair but I was a little skeptical this time around. Hameen took me into his arms, took his time and made love to my hair! Yes I said made love because he was patient, precise, and thorough when cutting my hair! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! He’s my barber from now on while I am back on this short hair journey!

Came here a few weeks ago to get a new look since I was transitioning from a perm to natural hair. I spoke with Hameen, and was told to come on down for my appointment. Although there was a little miscommunication as to what hairstyle I was looking for over the phone. .lol.I was seen by Ruthie, and she hooked me up! She asked me what style I was going for, I showed her a few pictures and she went to work. She took her time And cut my hair into a Beautiful short style that I’m constantly getting complimented on! I’m so happy I was able to find this spot here on Unilocal… I was lost and The Experience Unisex salon saved me! Thank you so much for your professionalism and patience. You won’t go wrong when you come here. Everyone is at work making their clients look amazing!

This is the hair salon I go to for touch ups to my fade. I’m a Black woman who rocks my relaxed hair with a shaved side. I see Hameen for touch ups to the side.
I can’t vouch for the other stylists (I see someone else for relaxers), but Hameen is a barber who works with skill on all ethnicities and hair types.

I came in without an appointment, and within 20 min, I was seen by Fritz. I had an idea of what I wanted, but he really hooked me up. Androgynous but still chic and sexy! And I got a wash cut and style for $ 40. If I lived out here, I would def make this my staple spot.

Lets face it finding a great hair stylist when you move from another state is hard but this Salon is very welcoming and really «experienced». From what I see they do Men, Woman & Kids hair here. My hair stylist Ruth really has an eye for her craft and would work hard to perfect her skills

I came here yesterday for my first time, ready for a huge change in hairstyles. Kiki took me in and did her MAGIC. She cut off all my permed ends, dyed my hair and taught me how to maintain it. You don’t find a lot of hair stylists that care about you the way she does. The staff is super cool and laid back! I’m so glad I found Kiki! Definitely found a salon I’d stick with!

Love coming here! It was recommended by a college sister of mine and it was definitely right choice. Kiki is my stylist and she always has me leaving looking fabulous even if I didn’t come in that way. Not to mention the entire staff is friendly, very professional and the atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. The always have a good selection of music on, and one of the most important things is that they keep the place clean. Feel free to call them for an over the phone consultation and they will try and work to meet your needs, not to mention recommend hair products like hair for weave, or the best hair care for you type of hair. Great service all around and in a great part of Brooklyn!

Never thought I’d be giving a bad review after I read such good reviews about them, and had found out about them to begin with via an article online about how they are open very late. And what’s more, I didn’t even use their services tonight. Why? Because I don’t support the overpriced. Charging twenty dollars for a men’s haircut simply because they can because the place is open late at night is not a good enough reason for me to stop in. And not picking up the phone at all when I try to call earlier in the afternoon to inquire about rates? Oh, the stars here on Unilocal that are not being given… and the cherry on top of the cake? I found a barber shop a block away that is open just as late, accomodates my hours, and is a fraction of the price. How’s that for an «experience».?

Ruthie saved my life! She was amazing! Completely professional with the situation I came in with. My whole hair was a knot. She cared enough to take her time. Yes, she had to cut it but absolutely love the cut and love her. She listened and kept as much length as she could and styled it. AMAZING!

I stumbled into The Experience when I was in pinch and needed my hair done one evening. Kiki was done for the day and on her way out, but lucky for me, she stayed and helped me out.
I have super long, multi textured, curly, knotty, unruly hair and she gave me the best blow out and flat iron I have had in years. She saved the day.
Everything about her service was great.
One con, the salon says they charge a $ 5 fee to pay by credit cards which is some bunk. Bring cash to avoid that.

I woke up one morning and decided I wanted to cut my hair. There was no if, ands, or buts about it. I contacted the salon and was directed to Diane. Diane was friendly and I couldn’t wait to meet her after work the following day.
Diane was dreaming awesome! Any person anointed with a gift is truly worthy of praise. Diane was friendly, personably, funny and just had a great spirit overall. Now down to the magic, she worked wonders with my hair. She gave me great tips and even offered advice to my daughter who is thinking about going to cosmetology school.
The wait wasn’t long. The atmosphere was friendly and serene. I will definitely visit again. Did I tell you I’m in love with my new cut! Thanks Diane. You truly are a gem in Brooklyn!
