not so good. While the delivery was excellent, on time and nice, the food was not good. Beef Pad See Ew was disgusting, it was so spicy that I couldn’t taste the actual food. It was dry with very little of the sauce. Marinated half chicken had good flavor but was dry. overall, still looking for a decent thai place that will deliver.

Delivery took 70 minutes on a quoted 30 – 45. Food was decent but nothing was spicy, even dishes which were ordered extra spicy.

First time trying out this spot. Ordered Basil fried rice(marked as a customer favorite) for take out. The place is big and furnished nicely, the staff seem friendly. As for my dish, decent price, and good sized portion of food, but lacks in flavor, pretty spicy and very bland even though there is a fair amount of ingredients in it, had to add soy sauce to it to finish it.

2.5 stars rounded down. This was really disappointing. We ordered delivery, which came within an acceptable amount of time. The appetizers were incredible, and the peanut-cucumber-onion sauce was delicious and homemade. I was really excited for our mains, but both were sub par. My drunken noodles lacked flavor. It had all the right ingredients, but didn’t taste like very much, almost as if they forgot to add sauce or had made it hours before and then microwaved it. The pieces of basil in it didn’t add any flavor. Midway through I double checked to make sure I hadn’t lost my sense of taste. My wife’s pad Thai was about the same, bland. I’m fine with mediocrity, but this was way below that and made me wish for something more run of the mill rather than insipid cuisine. It was especially disappointing because the meal had such a strong start.

It was completely different this time. The curry was bland, the entrees were underwhelming, but the Pad Woon Sen was full of flavor. Still didn’t have enough vegetables, but it had some juicy mushrooms this time. Next time I’ll skip the lunch specials. This is the place in Bay Ridge to get Thai on a Monday when Top Thai is closed.

I can finally get amazing Thai food without having to go into Williamsburg or go to Queens! My hubby and I decided to give this place a try one Saturday afternoon for lunch, and we were pretty amazed at the affordable price. We started off sitting next to a bamboo wall divider, and gazed at the wall of framed Thai eats with tempting pictures and explanations of their contents and origin. A really nice touch. We ordered the standard Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups, and they were both spicy and tasty, but I was partial to the Tom Kha more. They had healthy pieces of chicken mixed with the vegetables which is something rare in itself. Good go! Next, I ordered my favorite — Drunken Noodles, and my hubby tried the Pad See Ew. Excellent choices for both! MY drunken noodles were spicy with a fair amount of shrimps, and the portion was perfect. The smell was just as good as it tasted, and I was pretty happy about it. We’ve come back and tried the Pad Thai which was also pretty great. We’ll be back for the Thai Iced teas and to further explore your menu!

Came here one night after work around 8:30pm and it was quite empty. There were only two other groups other than myself. We ordered the spring rolls which only comes in 3 :(I had the pat see ew and my BF had the green curry noodle. Their noodles were okay, I wouldn’t say they’re the best because I had better ones before. The waiter, male, in all black outfit with glasses is very nice. He’s very friendly and accommodating especially when we asked for recommendations.

I’m a big fan of drunken noodles done right and this place rocked. My first time ordering from them, but will definitely do it again.

Great spot for lunch. Lunch specials started at 6.95 and included an app and lunch. For $ 2 more you get soup too. Service was very friendly and the restaurant is clean and modern.

Best Thai food I’ve ever tasted. I usually order the Tofu Pad Thai and steamed vegetable dumpling as an appetizer. Wow, this is delicious. The waitress is so nice and friendly, the décor is lovely, and the seats are comfortable. The music in here is played at the perfect volume. Nicely in the background. I wish more people would go to this place, it seems like it’s hidden and it’s so wonderful. I’ve brought family here and every single one of them have loved it. Also, the prices are extremely reasonable(especially if you get the lunchtime special)! I looove this place!

Ordered pad Thai vegetable rolls and satay chicken. Can’t complain about the food it was satisfying and delicious. Maybe the pad Thai could’ve been warmer. And the entrée came seconds before the appetizer. Weird. I would’ve served the appetizers first then a minimum of 5 – 10 minutes later serving the entrée. Water barely had ice in it. Staff was nice with smiles.

Opening a Thai restaurant is like cheating. It’s basically the same ingredients in different configurations, and it’s simple and cheap. Thai 86 adheres to the same principles that have made Thai food a hit in the US, with a lot of the popular staples(pad thai, green curry, summer rolls, etc.). The restaurant itself is actually massive. It extends all the way to the back, and the décor is surprisingly nice for the block it’s located on. When we went, we were only one of two tables. To be fair, it was a bit late for dinner and they did seem to do a lot of Seamless deliveries. As for the food, we started out with the summer rolls which were super bland and the tom yum hot & sour soup. The soup was pretty good(better than similar ones I’ve had in Park Slope) and it was loaded with a bunch of veggies and shrimp. I was with my parents, and we shared a pineapple fried rice. I thought it was pretty good, especially with the cashews and raisins for texture. But then again, pretty hard to screw up fried rice. Here’s where they went wrong though. I ordered the spicy drunken noodles with beef, and what came out was chicken. The ONLYOTHER table in the place got my order(we ordered first and they got the noodles first, which was a red flag). We told the waiter, and he was very apologetic. But come on. There were only two tables and they managed to mix them up. The noodles themselves were actually pretty good and they didn’t skimp on the spiciness. Lastly, we went with one of their specials — black pepper duck. It was a huge dish with tons of veggies. Lots of duck in it as well. Great flavors and went well with rice. Interestingly enough, they only had this dish listed on their Chinese-only print-out specials menu. Totally worth asking for it if it’s available, because it was the best dish we had. The other thing worth mentioning is that with the purchase of any entrée, you can get half price Singha’s($ 2.50 instead of $ 5), so that’s quite a deal. I’m glad Bay Ridge is ever expanding in its food options, and I’d definitely come back. Docking one star for the service and the lame summer rolls though.

–Waitress is really sweet. Service is a bit slow. –Best tasting Thai ice tea. I tried this yesterday and I came back for more today. –Summer roll was good. Spring roll is kind of greasy but than again it’s fried so it’s expected. –Loved the green curry chicken. The red curry chicken is pretty good too, but I liked the green curry better. –The shrimp pad Thai is a little extra on the sweet side so I wasn’t a big fan of it. –The beef drunken noodles is good but it came with a lot of onion so unless you like a lot of onion, request light onion. –The curry rice people have been ranting about is not that great. It’s just rice with curry and some veggies. I wasn’t a huge fan of it. It’s edible but I wouldn’t order it ever again.

Went with a friend for lunch and it was really good a lot better than the other Thai places that we have gone to in Bayridge. The inside was very spacious walls were decorative with pictures of different types of food. The only downside problem was that there was only two people serving, so had to wait awhile to get our order in and wait for the bill. The lunch specials is really affordable and a variety of different choices to chose from on their lunch menu. Would have to come and try out the dinner menu.

4.5 /5 Delivery came earlier than expected time(that’s a big plus). Pad thai and the curry fried rice was delicious and fulling; couldn’t finish it. I got the curry fried rice in ‘less spicy’ but next time, I would probably try the ‘hot and spicy’. Calamari was good but there’s not a lot. Kind of pricey for that little… Thai Iced Tea … I wouldn’t get again. It was too sweet and tasted like ice cream… lol, kind of tasted like sugar water. I don’t remember thai iced tea tasting like that … I would order from here again.

I’m a repeat customer and I recommend this place to my friends when they’re in the mood for Thai. So Today, I came back here to have lunch with my playdate mommies. Their menu has changed to modernized look, new and refreshing. We ordered pad thai with beef, curry fried rice with beef, spicy thai basil with chicken(lunch special) it comes with an appetizer. I picked steamed vegetable dumpling(my son likes it). Pad thai was delicious and the curry fried rice was good. Makes me want to learn to make it and add red peppers. The beef from both dishes were great, flavorful and tender, its better than the other place in Bay Ridge were its tough to chew. The spicy thai basil with chicken is good and the spiciness just hits the spot! Overall, my mommies enjoyed their meal.

We ended up coming here because the Chinese place we wanted to go to was closed(we will still try it, however). Well, what a GREAT choice. The food was so tasty & nicely presented. The service was excellent too– the staff was attentive(but not overly so), friendly & accommodating. In fact, even though I ordered MILDLYSPICY, my rice dish was really too spicy for me & they offered to take it back & redo it, which they did. My husband had the sautéed fish filet with young peppercorns which was very flavorful with intense spiciness. The décor & atmosphere were also very pleasant. Looking forward to going back! Bravo to the owners. Nice job!

I love Thai food. been to Thailand. had the food there eat the food here. Bay Ridge has some okay Thai places. some are just takeout and a few are real restaurants. So with that prelude… let’s cut to the chase of this new Thai restaurant here on 86th. Loved it and I have eaten here twice, both times sampling different dishes. The waitress that we had tonight was very sweet and a pleasure dealing with. The Tom Yum Goon Soup was spot on. fresh shrimp and tasty mushrooms. Def best I have had in this part of the Ridge… not a drop was left. We tried their Summer rolls… wow. so good. One of my top recommend appetizers here. The mint was so fresh it was amazing with the dipping sauce. Great Pad Thai… not oily like some places Pineapple fried rice was presented nicely in the half cut pineapple they used for the dish… it was really good. Last time I ordered the Pad Key Mao(drunken noodles)…they were so tasty and not too spicy as I asked for it that way. Overall I really like this places food… not to mention they did a nice job renovating the restaurant. The food is really authentic and the prices are very reasonable. Some places like to mask their food with lots of sauces and heavy spice to hide what they are serving… not here. I wish them the best of luck here in Bay Ridge and we will be coming back and bringing our friends.

We there there a few weeks ago. We ordered many dishes and they all came out to be bland. We got a couple of appetizers like the spring rolls and the chicken skewers. Spring rolls tastes just like the ones you get from those take out lunch specials. Bad. Chicken skewers: DRY. Best part is the sauce for the chicken. The Tom Yum soup: bland, watered down. The Red Snapper: DRY. We also got the pineapple fried rice, crispy orange chicken, crispy peanut chicken. They were all bad. Service was slow cause only 2 people were working. We didnt mind cause we sat there and chat all day. To cut it short, if you are asian, dont bother coming in here. The food is meant for gwai lows. Chinese owned restaurant. Chef probably came from ghetto restaurant from the corner. If you are not asian, maybe this place is for you. This place used to be a sushi restaurant if I’m not mistaken. So they just opened not too long ago. Probably 2 – 3 months already. I wont be back here so I hope they change up on the food and hope them the best.

We ordered takeout it was quick reasonably priced the pad Thai noodles were good and the tom ka soup was just okay. It’s better than most Thai takeout’s in the area– Of course when it comes to Thai food I am very spoiled normally I would go to Joya downtown. But Bay Ridge has very mediocre Thai restaurants. This is a Thai Chinese food restaurant. I would give it another try for sure.
