Great Indian food! Was traveling around NYC and decided to stop by for something to eat and ended up eating way too much! Great Waiter great service and the mango lassi was amazing! I am definitely coming back here with friends and family, they even have BYOB Bring Your Own Beverage! Really recommend this place to everyone!

I ordered delivery, and, when it arrived, I realized that they had not given me chicken tikka masala, but a different dish. When I called and asked if they would replace it, the person told me that«it was the same thing as chicken tikka masala» and that they would not replace it. I assure you, it was not chicken tikka masala. I used to order from here pretty regularly, but I never will again.

Amazing restaurant, everybody should come here! Very good food, great portions and very tasty! The staff is nice and they take care of you! They are concerned knowing if everything is as you like. You can see that they are passionated in their restaurant! Me and my boyfriend we took the Chicken Bengal and the Lamb Vindaloo. He is a spicy food lover and he could even finish his dish,(and believe me this is almost impossible on him!) I took the Chicken Bengal(my favorite) and it was one of the bests I ever tasted! Don’t hesitate to come or order your food here! :)

Three words: overpriced, bad food, bad service. I would give 0 stars if I could. Food: 2⁄10 Service: 0.5÷10 Price: 1⁄10 I ordered take-out here after mistaking it for another restaurant that I love. Since the order was already placed, I decided to try it out without canceling it. I ordered lamb sag, chicken sag, chicken tikka makuhni and a tikka briyani along with garlic naan and regular naan. I was shocked to see how tiny the servings are for the price they charge, $ 13 for a pint sized deli container that was not even full! Normally I wouldn’t mind paying the price for quality food after-all a lot of work and ingredients are put into making the dishes, but comparing this to other Indian places I have been to, it is overpriced for the quality and taste of the food that was extremely lacking! At one of my favorite restaurants, their dishes cost $ 1 or $ 2 less depending on the dish compared to Taj Mahal, but there is more food, better taste and higher quality. I should have known this place was bad news the moment I walked in to pick up my food. The entire restaurant was empty with only one waiter there and no customers at all [Red Flag here]. When I asked the waiter, who was eating lunch at the time, for my take out order, he completely ignored me. There were no other waiters to speak to, and after repeating myself he still refused to respond. So I waited and someone else came out to help me. Service is extremely terrible, I understand that you are on your lunch break, but seeing that there were no other staff present, it wouldn’t have hurt to say«wait for so and so to come out to help you.» It just shows how much customer service means to them. On top of that before I arrived, they had called me and with a very condescending tone. I picked up the phone and even before I said hello, someone was already saying«FOODISREADY. PICKUP!». I informed him that I am on my way and he responded with an «Ok» before hanging up. Now onto the food, the consistency and texture of the naan was disgusting, it was equivalent to eating raw pizza dough. I have had naan bread in all variations and not one time did I ever experience eating such doughy naan bread. I felt like I was chewing on play-doh! The taste of the chicken tikka makuhni was alright, but the chicken was tough and dry. The chicken was extremely inconsistent, some were harder than others, and the amount of oil that sat on top of the sauce was appalling! I love Indian cuisine, and I have tried other places, and not one place ever served me a chicken tikka makhuni dish with that much oil! The lamb sag was very gamey and overpowered everything, this dish and the chicken sag was nothing special, lacked in flavor. The tikka briyani was a mess and flavorless. The carrots were old and dry, I don’t know if they even cooked it in the rice because it was still hard and raw with the white spots on it that indicate its time to get rid of these carrots! It looked like it was quickly just thrown together, a tomato was just cut up, but not very well because it was still connected whole and placed on top. The rice was not loose it was very clumped together. I was highly disappointed for my first time eating the food here. Had I realized early on that this was the restaurant I ordered from I would have checked Unilocal for reviews and immediately canceled my order! Save your money or take it else where, Taj Mahal doesn’t care for your service, presentation, taste or quality of their food. I am by no means an expert on Indian cuisine, however I have had other authentic Indian restaurants and also had authentic Indian cuisine cooked by my Indian friends parents, and nothing from this restaurant lives up to the quality of those.

I really dislike giving bad reviews but this place should be avoided like a plague. I have enjoyed Indian food in many many restaurants, so I acquired a palate for the deliciousness… The dishes here are super greasy, the meat is very low quality, the taste is off. After eating a few popular dishes with kurma and tikka, I didn’t sleep all night as the food was stuck in my throat and kept coming up. :(

Amazing food and wonderful staff. Really, some of the nicest restaurant staff I’ve ever met. They really go out of their way to make sure you’re happy with your food. Get the cheese naan, it’s great! All of the naan is always so fresh and hot out of the oven. Best Indian spot in all of Park Slope! Also great to order on Seamless!

I ordered kulfi which they said was homemade but I don’t think it was as it had an expiry date on it and it had expired a month ago. I couldn’t even taste it thinking I might get food poisoning.

Let me start this review off with a qualifier: I’ve never ordered from this spot. The reason why? I usually order through Seamless when I’m at work and the menu for this place looks good. BUT… $ 5 Delivery Fee and they want you to tip too? So, let me see if I’ve got this straight… You want me to pay $ 23 and change for a meal that costs $ 14? OOOOOOOOOOOOO K. Right. SMDH

I really miss the food from when this place was known as Aarpan! It used to be our go-to place, but since it re-opened, the food is bland and greasy. The staff is very polite and delivery is always fast, so it’s good in a pinch, but I wish they would bring back their old menu.

Tried Taj tonight and it was awesome. I had an eggplant stew with onions, peppers, tomato and chick peas and it was delicious. Very flavorful and I loved the sauces they served with it as well. Very bright and the perfect touch. Thanks, I will be back.

We always enjoy the food here! One of the best Indian options in Park Slope. The staff is super friendly. The food is always spot on. It’s BYOB so you can choose your own wine. They also have a great backyard.

It’s the exact same people as Aarpan, just under a different name because they got shut down by the health department. The«Closed by the Health Department» sign was covered up by a napkin taped to the door when they were doing construction. Shady people, shitty food.

This place is a scam. It is exactly the same as the last 2 places that were there. Aarpan and New Aarpan. They just close down and redecorate it every 6 months or so and then say it is under new management just to get some media attention. Trust me it’s the exact same boring predictable food and terrible service. The menu is an exact replica of the previous 2 places. This place is completely empty every day.

Not sure if this restaurant is actually under new ownership or just a new name, because the food is just as bland as when the location was called New Aarpan. The mulligatawny soup tastes the same too — too tomato-y and creamy. I miss the mulligatawny soup from when this location was just«Aarpan.»
