The chorizo burrito was delicious and spicy. Also, I’m a fan of places that stock Coca Cola Mexicana(in the old timey glass bottle). I will certainly return. People need to get over this place not being spotless and perfectly clean. Don’t forget you’re eating in a place where you will get a meal for $ 5-$ 7 in Bushwick. Geesh!

I was so excited to go here. I thought it would be authentic mexican, like some of the other restaurants on the street. It is disgusting inside. Completely dirty. And not just the floors and counter, but the plates and dishes. The food was inedible. Not like zagat inedible, but even cute whole in the wall inedible. I could not take more than one bite. Stay away!

My first visit here with my mother was while we were hiking the streets in search of an apartment for my move to NYC. She ordered the pollo al horno(I think). It was a quarter chicken, tender-roasted and served with beans and rice. Very tasty, but«rustic» in its slopped on the plate presentation. I value taste over presentation and have become a regular. Now, I live a few blocks away and reward myself with a beefsteak tostada and a choirzo taco every few weeks after I wait an hour or two at the post office next door. Clean? Nah. Yummy? Yup. Cheap? Heck, yeah! Grab a bottle of your favorite beverage out of the cooler – sodas, jarritos, and a few snapple varieties. Order at the counter – the basic menu staples – tostadas, tacos, burritos. Wait while your meal is cooked to specifications right there. The food may not look like the picture in your cookbook, but it will taste like mami used to make!

Nestled on the corner of Wyckoff Ave and Dekalb Ave in Brooklyn, Tacos La Hacienda is regarded as a «streamlined» authentic Mexican style diner, which also serves traditional foods like omelets and hamburgers. The corn tacos(hard or soft shell) are actually pretty tasty, and fresh, with lots of flavorful, freshly chopped cilantro and lime, though I prefer chucks of chicken or meat, not shredded. Other notable dishes include the pollo(chicken) con mole poblano, tostadas, enchiladas, carne(steak) stir fried with chiles, tomatoes and onions, and the guesadillas. The guacamole is good at times, but too inconsistent, as the flavor is sometimes not as zesty as other times I’ve had it, perhaps due to the quality of avocados used. I frequently will stop by in the morning and get a toasted egg breakfast sandwich and coffee, both of which are good. Seating is limited to two counters, with a narrow one that spans across the length of the exposed window overlooking the busy intersection on Wyckoff. The owner and staff are all Mexican(and generally friendly), but their English is better understood than it is spoken, so be patient if they don’t necessarily understand you at first, though generally it’s not a problem. One issue that I do have with this place is that the dining area isn’t always very clean. In fact, sometimes it seems outright unsanitary. And often times the window counter is filthy and sticky. A few times I’ve actually walked out before ordering after viewing the way the grill cook maneuvered his wiping cloth around food items being garnished or prepared on the prep counter. There’s nothing worse, seemingly, seeing a soiled cloth exposed in plain sight. Moreover, it’s a colossal no-no to place raw meat on a grill flush up against meat that is nearly done cooking. Needless to say, Tacos La Hacienda doesn’t seem particularly keen or knowledgeable about what the concept of cross contamination means. For the most part, and even though some of the food is good, I generally stick with coffee(great coffee, for sure) in the morning and occasionally a breakfast sandwich… or a couple of soft tacos in the evening. I just wish this diner would project with a lot more enthusiasm for cleanliness and sanitation. Any place that is less than acceptably clean doesn’t deserve the right to serve food, period. Culture or not, standards for cleanliness should be held to the highest degree.
