What party are you going to SRB for? The crowd and experience of this club can likely change very much from night to night. So know before you go. TRANCE: That is how I ended up here twice now… dance, dance, smile, dance. Great sound system, cool disco ball and good vibes. Staff: Coat check has been very friendly, barstaff pretty friendly, bouncers are pretty friendly, bathroom attendant is friendly 1 dollar at a time… well in the grand scheme they run a good club. Layout: Spacious, no frills, no VIP bs and simple to figure out/get around. Think a big box. Drinks: Reasonable. Cabs: This is still the middle of nowhere for me, that is the main drawback… you walk outside at 4am and it’s pretty desolate.

Great venue! Very spacious, sound system was okay. The sound was bleeding a little but I’ve been spoiled with Funktion One system so of course anything that’s not Funktion One is no longer good enough for me. Lasers were great! Drink prices are okay. Clean bathrooms. The only negative is that it’s so far away from the subway station, although it’s also a great plus because promoter can keep their party on til 5AM, later than most clubs in NYC.

I second Gabi A.‘s review below: «Ratchet.» A crowd who actually enjoyed the music, but sub-par in nearly every other way. Aforementioned crowd was pretty sloppy. This comes from a gal who unfortunately frequents Pacha. People were falling all over themselves. Have you ever blown out the speakers in your car from too much bass? That’s how SRB’s system sounds :( Why is there a bathroom attendant? I will never understand why any place needs to hire a person to tell you where to wipe your hands off. SRB earns points for having no dress code. It’s worth coming if you’re a big enough fan of whoever’s playing.

I saw Skrillex here for his Brooklyn takeover tour. I had a great time. The venue is intimate and the staff was great. The sound was better than decent but the speakers could use an update. Had a great time, I would come back.

Ratchet. Good music but last time I was here a gang fight broke out and ended my night quick. Why can’t we all just get along?

My friends and I have attended several raves here. There are two bars, one on each side of the space, and a lounge area with couches in the back. The four-corner speaker system sounds good in theory, but it couldn’t handle the bass in some of the tracks that a few DJs were spinning. There’s plenty of space to dance, though, and I really enjoyed their laser lights. The bouncer was friendly, the bartenders were competent, and they had an attendant in the women’s restroom. Overall, a pretty solid place and very suitable for hosting smaller EDM events.

I wish I could rate this place one star. For a place that doesn’t seem to be getting that much business, they sure have an obscure door policy. If a bouncer thinks your government/issued drivers license«feels fake»(AKA you’re a minority), don’t bother trying to get in. I was turned away, as was another group of black people who came in after me. This place is also in a sketchy area with a bad, rapey vibe!

Dragged my butt into Brooklyn looking for some stoooopid fun on a Friday night. We could have gotten up to all sorts of mischief but topping the list was the down and derby roller disco @ SRB. Living on longguyland you rarely get to experience quirky fun events which may or may not involve dressing up in hot pants, knee high socks and bright colors coupled with yo’ mammas hair from 1978. We all looked like a freak show but you can be sure we had a good time at the roller disco. Yes, roller disco, you read that right, 2013’s version at least. SRB is by large fairly clean with friendly bouncers and decent bathrooms. No complaints about the sound system nor the funky tunes played this weekend. While SRB is in the middle of warehouse city, it isn’t partially large enough to be hosting rollerskating parties. I’m sorry but the dance floor is too small to fit 40+ inebriated fools on four wheels. We were ALL bumping into each other and occasionally falling. Within 10 mins you not only got accustomed to being groped, you were groping absolute strangers as well at no fault of your own. Skate management was horrendous. We waited on line for 25 mins with two girls working frantically to try to get skates out and put back the returns on stage. I was willing to let all of the above slide in the name of a good time with friends. Really, it was cool until I got completely ripped off at the bar. $ 30 for… a whopping 5 shots of soco. Actually, it may have only been 4 because I changed my order and the bartender ended up doing one with us. The absolute best part about it was that I watched her pour a nice squeeze bottle of water into the mixing cup. Our shot glasses were little plastic thimbles, too. Jipped … Come here for the entertainment, be careful and avoid the bar.

Came here for the Down and Derby roller disco thing. In my opinion the place was really too small to be functioning as a skating rink. The place was so crowded that the skating consisted of a rather slow moving circle that tried to avoid those standing at the bars. After being charged a $ 10 cover I had to pay another $ 5 for skates, and then found there was really no where to put them on. They also charge $ 8 for the smallest shots of Jameson I have ever seen. They were the size of Robitussin cups, and made of plastic too.

I had a horrible experience at this venue, after purchasing 2 $ 40 tickets to an event here the bouncer was extremely rude and was convinced that my girlfriends Id was not her even though she had 4 other points of Id and a credit card with her photo in the corner. The manager was brought out after we refused to be turned away as I didn’t want to waste $ 80 when my guest was 3 years over the legal age. The manager was even more rude than the bouncer and walked away from us after we asked to have a police officer verify her identity. Eventually a friend who was throwing the event came out to help us and let the staff know they were wrong.

Attended the President’s day special J Dilla tribute, Just Blaze being the headliner. The venue wasn’t that far from the train(Prospect Ave. on the R train). Doors didn’t open til 8:10pm on a windy 18 degrees. A good flow going in after the delayed opening, check-in followed by an optional coat-check($ 4) leading to the main stage. The layout was fairly simple, two bars on opposite ends of the venue with both restrooms being on the far end of the stage. The lounge area was used for a photo booth and merch station for the entire evening. The stage lighting was some of the best lighting I’ve seen in a small venue in years. The early birds, like myself, all took pictures of the main stage before it became packed. The sound system was on par with the lighting, supplying a steady resonating dose of hi’s, low’s and mid’s that filled the room without over modulating. Drinks were fairly strong with a decent price tag attach to them. Helpful and professional customer service. I can see this venue packed during the spring and summer.

Came here for ‘Donuts are Forever 7′. Good sized event space and the party was excellent! The location is a little out of the way from the subway, and at night it can be a little unnerving for a woman walking along through the industrial area. That said, car services knew to pass by later in the night. Drinks on the pricey side, and the bartender automatically took her tip from my $ 20… I prefer to tip myself.

I would like to say, the staff at this venue are amazing, friendly and great overall. I had an event here and they were very accommodating. Its a fairly new space in Gowanus. The sound system put out some thumping heavy bass that it kept knocked DJ equipment out of place. They have beautiful art murals along the walls with legendary jazz and r*b artist on them. There are 2 vip areas inside. 2 large bars on both sides. Coat check is right next to the ticketbooth. Coat check was 4 dollars which is a bit high, however as it was my event I didn’t have to pay that. However I definitely can see and heard people complaining about that. It was friggin cold outside. Security was very nice and tried to get everyone in as quickly as possible. They do offer bottle service if you feel inclined. The only knock against this place is the location. They are near the water and when its cold, its extra cold. The wind coming off the water + winter is just a horrible mix. Its not the clubs fault really, it is what it is. I’m sure in the summertime this place will be poppin.

I atteneded a New Years party here. To start I would like to say that the producer, hosts, performers, and attendees were amazing. However, this is a review of the venue itself. Pro: I wanted to give this venue a higher rating because the space and location are very good. Big open dancefloor, nice lighting, space is simple but lends very well to performers, dancing the night away, and still getting access to the bar/bathrooms. I imagine that it might be a shlep on public transport, but if you are driving in like I was it is easy to get to off the BQE and there is plentiful parking. The fact that it is a little in the middle of nowhere means that there are minimal drunk fools walking in off the street a bit of privacy for serious partying. CONS: Unfortunately I could not give it a good review because there are a few matters this venue seriously needs to clean up. The *minimum* ticket price for the party I attended was $ 50 and it went up to the sky from there, so glitz and good service should definitely have been included. 1. Coat check was a joke. There was a massive line that I didn’t even bother standing on. The line had nowhere to go, so it simply wrapped onto the dancefloor. In the dead of winter when it is 10 degrees outside, having access to a safe and easy place to leave your layers must be provided. 2. The bar: truly bizarre, pathetic service. Took 30 minutes of standing on the bar waving money and yelling to get 1 beer. Aren’t there thousands of unemployed bartenders in NYC that actually have experience? First I asked for the champagne special of the night. I was told they had *run out of champagne*. Mind you it was 10:50 pm on New Years Eve. The bartender then ran off and ignored me for 20 minutes, despite my waving money, politely greeting her, waving, and everything else I could do to get her attention. Finally I ordered 1 beer for my boyfriend. After that she disappeared, and served everyone else at the bar. I did everything to get her attention, and then the attention of everyone else at the bar, but I was still ignored. Finally, at least 15 minutes later, I yelled«I ordered a beer a while ago and you never brought it.» We did eventually get that beer. At midnight, tiny sips of champange were offered — for $ 10 each! What kind of $ 50+ NYE party doesn’t offer those complimentary to guests? 3. Stage: There was no crew to clear the stage, so dancers and other performers had to do their show on the FLOOR. Needless to say nobody was able to see them. 4. The most bizarre moment came when VIP bottle service guests were all ordered to leave their tables, as the club wanted to clear the area for other guests to dance. LOL! I can tell you if I had paid hundreds of $$$ for bottle service and got kicked off my table at 11pm I would have been asking for my money back.

Was there last night for a Halloween and it was awesome. They had live music, plenty of space and an overall great vibe. The negative aspect of the place might be what makes it so great, the location. It’s not an awful location but Gowanus is a bit dead. Like other venue places in Gowanus(like Littlefield) it’s large, has tons of room, is a great setup for live music and doesn’t have to follow the same noise ordinances other bars in Brooklyn may have to deal with. They had prizes and contests for Halloween. Drink specials past 1 a.m. and there was even an empanada truck outside late. Seems like this is going to a great party venue for big events.

Let me just say thank you to this amazing venue and their amazing staff. It’s almost as though every complaint one could have about a club was brought to them and they fixed it. The venue is a large, open dance floor with two bars on opposite sides of the floor, a chill area slightly elevated in the back, and a stage for the performer at the front. The ceiling is affixed with a perimeter shaped network of speakers and fans that keep you cool and happy while the beats go boom. The audio system is amazing in here! They have big, loud speakers that resonate throughout the entire space very nicely. For those who want to chat instead of listen to the music you paid to see, there are areas in the venue where the audio is less intense and you can hear each other. The fans make it the most comfortable club I’ve probably ever been to. I normally sweat bullets but was comfy all night. The bathrooms were clean and even had an attendant with all the fix-ins. I personally can’t stand the latter… why do I have to tip a guy who hands me a paper towel when I can get it myself? I digress… I really enjoyed the staff here! I had this adorable little asian bartender who took very good care of me all night. The bouncers were also really chill dudes and actually talked to me when I approached them. For those who go out in NYC you know this is a rare occasion. Yes, this is the more modest Brooklyn over the Manhattan divas but regardless of the borough NYC has some salty heads. Let me just say I didn’t encounter any in this joint. Check it out, you’ll be happy you did.
