This place rocks — the people are super chill and they know what they’re talking about here, especially when it comes to food pairings. Great selection of wines from all over the world, but I have enjoyed the French wines the most. Thanks guys!

This is my go to spot for a great bottle of wine. It doesn’t matter what I’m in the mood for — their help with finding the right selection for a dinner or a party has never failed me.
The salespeople are knowledgable and friendly. I don’t know a lot about wine but I can describe what I’m looking for and they always have great recommendations.
I’ve hosted many parties, thrown plenty of dinners and will continue to trust them to help me the wine selection!

I have to throw these guys a review because the 3 star rating here is completely undeserved. If you read through the bad reviews you quickly discern that these individuals mostly had a bad experience with standing in line or dealing with checkout people back in 2011 — none of which is relevant to your experience today.
this place is quite simply the best wine shop in the area. in fact even after I moved from P-​Sliz to Crown Heights I continue to go back to 7^th ave whenever I can.
A few points:
— Price: is it expensive? definitely not by park slope standards. Far cheaper than the options I have for good wine or spirits in Crown Heights (I’m looking at you — Winot on Franklin). Love the discount on a case of wine and the loyalty points system
— Selection: Is the selection amazing? yes, definitely by park slope standards. Spirit selection is also great. Love the options to go from a handle of Titos for $ 35 to a brooklyn small batch gin
— Knowledge: do the staff know their business? for sure. I have worked with several different folks to put together cases and they each impressed me with their ability to pick good bottles in different price ranges

There are a lot of great wine and liquor stores in the area, and I can’t necessarily say this is worth a big trip out of your way, but I love this store. They have a great, well-​curated selection across several price ranges, and they listen to you and don’t look down on you if you say you want something for $ 10 – 12 or less. I’ve gotten countless great bottles here that have impressed wine connoisseurs much snootier than I. Some people here on Unilocal are complaining that they’re overpriced compared to other stores. I don’t see it. I suppose it’s possible some bottles are a buck or two more than other places, but I’ll bet you’d also find others that are cheaper. And even if it were a little more (which it isn’t!), I’d be willing to pay it, because I’ve always found them friendly, helpful and patient.

I love the selection and convenience of this seventh avenue liquor shop but the shop staff is consistently rude, including the owner who always seems like it’s a bother to help customers. He’s condescending and abrupt and really should not be dealing with customers. Because of this, I opt to shop at the super friendly and well stocked Red,!White and Bubbly on fifth avenue. I only shop at Seventh Ave Liquor when I’m in a rush.

This is my go-​to place even though there are many alternatives in the area. I’ve found the employees to be friendly and helpful but since I prefer to peruse on my own, this place is great because a salesperson isn’t hovering or watching my every move. I can take my time reading the specials and featured bottles. I like that they have a good selection and there is always something at my price point (read: cheap). I’m not knowledgeable enough to compare their prices and selection with other places, but what sets it apart for me is the big airy casual vibe and the rewards program. I’ve tried other places in the Slope — one place had snooty staff, and they’re all so tiny I felt like a bull in a china shop.
Of course the casual vibe can be a curse as much as a blessing — taken too far and you get a reputation as slackers indifferent to customer service. So the only room for improvement I see is with customer engagement. Would be great if they had a website or social media presence to advertise specials and tastings. I don’t see this place ever being a favorite of wine snobs, but it has major potential for appealing to the casual drinker who wants to shop and browse without feeling intimidated or pressured.

Staff is usually quite helpful. One problem is that often the only staff around are at the registers, so if I am looking for a recommendation it may take a while to get one. The wines tend to be on the pricey side, but staff has always been able to point me to a good wine in the price range that I have indicated.

Staff is about as helpful as a pile of bricks – and half as knowledgeable. Wine is too expensive, and the selection is mediocre. For some reason, there is always music blaring.

I’ve gone here a handful of times and every time has been a great experience. The selection is very good for both wines and liquors. The staff has definitely stepped up to give me a hand when I asked for it. Otherwise, they’ve just been very pleasant and cool. They’re also dog friendly, which is pretty cool for a store like that. They have dog treats behind the counter.
Sometimes they don’t have what I’m looking for and I have to go to the one on the corner by where I live, but overwhelmingly, I’d prefer to come here.

Went into a few shops in the neighborhood looking for Belvedere and was surprised that some places didn’t carry it. But make sure to check behind the counter! A lot of great stuff back there (and also I think some of the best deals in the store?). Cashier yesterday afternoon was super friendly and helpful. I’d been hesitant to come in because of some of the reviews on here but at least for liquor, they have a wide selection and good prices.

Standing waiting with two other customers whilst some jock has a twenty-​minute conversation with the clerk about (insert team sport here) whilst two other clerks look on, seemingly incapable of operating the register in front of them, wine glass in hand.
The last time I was in here, I judged the owner for being over-​sensitive and cranky with his staff. Now I’m rooting for him. Please ditch these clowns, they’re poisoning your business.
Employ some decent people, and for pete’s sake look up ‘Syrah’ and get some. A whole freaking wall of wine and there was just one (bizarre) bottle of it.

I come here because it is located next to my dry cleaners. And because they have a good selection of spirits, liqueurs etc. A bonus: anytime the owner is not on the floor.
I don’t buy much wine here. Service and a little ambience is important when selling wine. This place does not have either. Note to owner: hire someone who knows and loves wine and also is someone normal people might want to sit next to on an airplane. In other words, a person who might sell expensive wine. Props to the generic dudes at the counter: you know how to ring up a sale.

This place is a fine liquor store. The wines are on the more expensive side and a total dude culture.

Why the whingeing Park Slopers?
Their selection is amazing. I can find ANYTHING I want there, I’m like a kid in a candy store. Making nori rolls at home? I’ll have some Sake. Contemplating Fall? Rye! Feeling trampled by kids? A bit of the old ‘housewife’s helper’ thanks. With an earthy twist. Plus they have a rewards program which makes me bypass Shawns every time ($ 80, pffffft, Evan G. You know you’re a professional when you’re making your way up to a thousand).
Troy, the store manager makes great suggestions, he never steers me wrong. There is also another young guy with glasses who has to be the most polite person working on all of 7^th Ave. He holds the door open for me and my stroller every time without fail. Woot! Big stars for that.
So, great service, great selection. Exceeds my expectation for a shop which is, let’s face it people, a wine store.

I’m not sure why all the negativity is being shared — this place is wonderful. I’m not sure what lofty expectations people think they ought to have for a wine/​liquor store… The most important things are variety/​selection, knowledgable staff, fair pricing, and convenient location. Are they lacking in any of theses areas? I think not.
I think you, too, will be pleased with what they offer. Now — granted, most of the complaints are based on negative customer experiences, and that IS important (let me emphasize that) but if you’re the type who knows what you like and has a general idea of what you need then go get it. ‘Nuff said. I understand the fact that Park Slope has a unique air about it that demands a particular set of expectations (which is a huge reason why I cant be bothered to be in the area), but as far as wine/​liquor stores in the north end of the slope — this is the best.

No matter how good the wine selection, you just have to treat people right. And no one here seems to know how to do that.
May I suggest some customer service basics, all based on my visit here tonight (the night before Thanksgiving)?
1. If someone tells you they have a bag, twice, don’t try to push your bag on them. In fact, offer to bag it in their bag for them.
2. If someone asks you «What’s the total?» after you’ve said it, they may not have heard you. I suggest just repeating the total. If someone asks again «Did you say $ 88.52?» I suggest answering them.
3. Make eye contact with the customer.
4. Don’t use an iPad and the register at the same time.
5. Thank the customer when they leave. They just spent $ 80 in your store.
I gave this place several tries to get it right. Apparently they just don’t want to.

Every single wine on the shelves at 7^th Avenue is chosen for a reason. Want a $ 20 bottle to go with lasagna? They have it. $ 12 for roast chicken? Done. They are careful, helpful, opinionated and comprehensive. I don’t pick my doctor because they listen to me. I pick my doc because I want to listen to them. This is a wine store with a point of view, eagerness to share and a wine for ever purpose. I cannot recommend it more highly.
