It’s been a few years since I went here but i still have great memories of my sessions and enjoy having the trinkets I made around the house. Thought the instruction was first rate. I’ve gone to several places and felt Scanlan gave me just enough background to get things going without boring me with things I’d forget. Doing is how I remember and he was always there when i was about to loose a bowl or something to save my piece! I’d highly recommend, great space and great personalities.

We had a great experience when we took the private lesson here. Kevin was definitely an expert glass artist but also a wonderful teacher! He was very patient and coached us through the entire process. Highly recommended!

My group at work had an outing to Scanlan Glass yesterday and it was truly incredible. To the point where, even though all I made was a sad little paperweight with A LOT of help from Kevin, I want to continue doing glass work. Overall, Kevin was a great teacher and gave our group room to explore and create their own unique paperweight(it’s much harder than it looks!) with just the right amount of guidance. One of the women in the group loved it so much that she’s seriously considering taking classes. Honestly, I know that if I still lived in Brooklyn, I would probably be joining her.

For the Boyfriend’s bday I purchased a two-hour private class. Not cheap, but super fun and a great gift. Kevin Scanlan teaches you the basics of glass blowing(in this beginner class it is really glass spinning) and then guides you through making a flower and a paper weight. We had some extra time at the end so he demonstrated blowing a beer stein and attaching a handle and let us help with the process. I almost wish he had started with the demonstration since we would have understood how to use the tools a bit better after seeing his expert hands at work. But overall– highly recommended. Fair warning though– this shit gets hot, like 2000 degrees.
