Amazing place to try something new and eat something extremely tasty. The staff is very friendly and you just don’t want to leave the place.

I celebrated my 30th birthday at Romanoff this past weekend and am still beaming with excitement over how much fun it was! I was very happy with the décor, food, shows, entertainment, and music. The waiters/servers were super attentive and nice, not letting me lift a finger to pour a drink or serve food, and always on call to help with anything else we needed(like the BYOB bottles we brought, storing flowers, packing leftovers). I wouldn’t have changed a thing! Thank you, Romanoff, for helping create awesome memories for this major milestone in my life :)

You’ve been to one Russian, you’ve been to them all. Now this is a good thing. Some of the reasons are, entertainment is typically good, drinks are always flowing and its usually BYOB, good service and tons of food!!! Romanoff provided all of what was mentioned above. I was here for a 1 year old birthday party which as held in the main party room which has a large stage, dance floor and a big area for dining. Service was good and the staff was friendly. So in all a good place and a place I would host a party. Although there are a few parties I’ve attended in BK which was just as good as Romanoff so be careful when pickinga venue. Theres a lot of good places out there. It comes down to how you pay(cash) that can get you the best deal.

A good analogy for this restaurant is watching the special effects of a 1930s Godzilla movie today. This place is a good example of an average Russian restaurant 20 years ago. Décor is decent, but the food is bland and uninspiring. What really bothered me is the show, which is unintentionally comical. A handful of «dancers» lazily walking around the stage in patterns, which kept me wondering how much worse the next song’s performance will be. It was also funny to have them turn on about 5 minutes of some weird cartoon advertising their restaurant while the handful of dancers were changing into different costumes backstage. It feels like they put on a show just to say that they«have a show», because I can’t see how someone would actually enjoy it. Music was also geared toward my grandmother’s generation. My advice would be to scrap the«show», and invest in better food quality and entertainment.

I’ve been to many Russian restaurants in my life and Romanoff is certainly the most«stereotypical» of the experiences. You get the extravagant ballroom, numerous courses of heavy food, alcohol(of course), a live band singing all types of music, and a crazy cabaret-type of knock off Cirque Du Soleil show. I came here with my parents, brother, and a few good friends(who aren’t Russian) to celebrate getting my master’s degree and I’m glad this was the place my parents chose to host the party at– so we can give the non-Russians a culture shock experience. And yes, they were in awe the entire time. As far as the food is concerned… HOTDAMN! For ordering the cheaper banquet package(because I only cared about drinking, not so much about the food)…24 hours later and I’m still stuffed. My stomach was a Tetris game of numerous«zakuski,» or appetizers, salads, shrimp, mussels, salmon, potatoes, duck, pickles, you name it. They served food from 8:30pm until 2:30am. That’s SIXHOURSOFNONSTOPEATING. With all that eating, what better way to make room for more than to boogie down on the dance floor? Spanish music, Russian music, French music, American music, you hear it all. Then comes the show featuring everything from what you’d see at the Moulin Rouge to flamenco to everything in between.(The one part I didn’t like was the dancers coming around with an empty top hat to fill with tips.) Service is always good at places like these. The wait staff is always attentive and if they catch you trying to serve yourself, they rush over and serve you. I guess with a price tag like that, that’s what you get. If I went down the list of every item on the banquet menu and gave my critique, this review would be never-ending. But like all places like this, you get some food items that are better than others so I’ll just list those: The shrimp toast appetizer– I don’t know what it was made of but this was a crowd favorite. Smoked fish platter– delicious. Seafood pasta– Not a fan of the tortellini but the shrimp in it were delicious, as were the scallops. Grilled salmon– My personal favorite. Skirt steak– At this point if I ate any more, food would ooze out my nose, eyes, and ears but this was another crowd favorite. So overall, Romanoff is a really good time. I just wish they booked the upstairs part of the restaurant with parties too so we could get a true packed restaurant feel, but even with just the first floor filled up, the dance floor was always packed. I think the curtains closing off the upstairs area were more of an eye sore for me than anything else, but does that really matter when you’re 10 drinks in? Nope.

Good Russian restaurant, not much has changed about it since its Rasputin days, so if you liked Rasputin you will like this place. Had my dads birthday here and it was an overall good experience. The interior is very large, with 2 floors, and a big dance floor on the 1st. Good place to have a large party. The staff here was very nice and helpful. The food was all good, and as with any Russian restaurant depending on the banquet you choose the choices vary greatly. It’s a Russian restaurant so the formula here is pretty much the same as with any, but the décor here is nice and its a great place for a party.

We went to the Romanoff Restaurant last week for a friend’s wedding reception. After reading the bad reviews here on Unilocal,I was expecting the worst and was prepared to have a terrible time. But, surprisingly, it turned out to be a great night. The food was great and the service was on par. The waiters were very attentive and on cue. And the show was entertaining. I don’t often visit such establishments, so I found the experience a refreshing change from all the other restaurants I normally dine at in Manhattan. Thanks for the great experience, Romanoff!
