Hands down my favorite coffee store in the city. The staff really know their stuff and the selection is amazing. If you love the smell of coffee, definitely stop by!

With far less foot traffic than the Manhattan locations on my visit, this outpost seemed a tad smaller, and smelled slightly less incredible(but still quite good). Yes, that’s an ‘o’, not a ‘ue’

This used to be my favorite place to buy beans, nice selection, reasonable prices, was thrilled when it opened around the corner from my house… but wow, had a terrible experience in there today. Yesterday I bought a box of coffee filters, they were out of my usual brand so tried one I’d never heard of(«Finum» stay away!), mistake, filter completely split open down the whole bottom seam and dumped all the grounds into the pot, have never seen a filter break that way! Annoyed at the waste of good coffee I decided to return them rather than risk ruining anymore coffee, but when I brought them back manager says«we’ve never had a problem with them and our policy is no returns on open merchandise». Period, tough luck. When I persisted they suggested I call some supervisor at the warehouse, which I tried, but was just put on hold forever, no one ever came back to the phone… It’s not the lousy $ 4 for filters but really the priniciple, I was shocked that the usually nice friendly staff that knows I’m a regular would take no responsibility for selling me a bad product that ruined the coffee I purchased there. So, I went elsewhere and found my usual brand of filters and looking at them closely I see they have two rows of stitching along the bottom where the weight of the coffee grounds sits, the Finums didn’t and had a flimsier feel to the paper, they probably split apart all the time. The manager should have been apologetic and eager to exchange them for a different brand – its not like I asked for cash back, just something else functional for my money – if they really cared about customer service they would have also offered me some replacement coffee beans to make up for the wasted beans, time and bad experience! Perhaps it’s time to go back to Gimme Coffee around the corner…

What lovely people work here! Every time I take a break for a cup of joe I leave this place smiling. The best service and coffee in the neighborhood! And don’t forget to try one of their chocolate treats with your Americano

Just as good as Gimmie or Variety and $ 1.50 a cup. Great selection of beans. Staff is incredibly helpful at helping you figure out what you like. Grind beans to suit the making of your coffee pot.

Mostly a bulk loose coffee store with an enormous selection, I feel like their coffee bar in the back doesn’t get nearly the respect that it should. Their coffee is just as good as any of the other local spots and it’s way cheaper too. Also, they have the best frequent buyer program. 5 cups and you get one for free. You can’t beat that. Plus, they have a little bit of outdoor seating in the back yard.

A pound of Colombian is $ 10 and I love the Danish blend too which I’m told is their best seller. They also have great loose teas, I love the tropical blend which is great iced.

Fantastic coffee here! Loved the atmosphere– so many bags of coffee beans and such an overwhelmingly huge selection– it’s coffee lovers heaven. Very knowledgeable staff! This place puts Starbucks to shame– so fresh and full-bodied– I wish I lived in New York– this would be my morning stop everyday! Great work guys!

I think I got lucky the first few times I went here. I started getting pretty stale or strange tasting beans sometimes, and I realized it’s hit and miss. I guess this makes sense since the beans are exposed in big bags all day. Service is always very nice, and they have really affordable coffee equipment. So… still a bargain, but inconsistent quality.

How can I complain about this coffee? I can’t. Every time I come in here I just want to try EVERYTHING. The Vienna Sumatra is the best roast I have tried so far.

As you walk in, smell of coffee along is enough to wake you up! Amazing display of open bags with all kinds of coffee beans, and shelves upon shelves lined with various tea tins… Such a great little store — if you love coffee or tea, it’s a must stop in Williamsburg. And — they make most delectable hot chocolate, too! Smooth, rich, with wonderful aroma to tease your senses… Cold days, long work days, drizzly NY winter days — all that goes away at first sip of this concoction… Haven…

I go here because i’ve guilted myself into buying fair trade coffee only… And this place has a massive selection, at great prices. Def worth the walk from the Grand L. Ignore the odd bad reciew, always about rude service. maybe they’re not getting paid enough, who knows. i worked a coffee job in college, it was terrible and I got fired. Buy your coffee here.

Great selection of coffees at very reasonable prices. I was so relieved to learn that when I move away later this year I can call the Porto Rico warehouse and they will ship smaller orders to me several states away. Thanks Porto Rico for keeping me caffeinated these past years. My personal favorites are French Colombian, Brazilian and Costa Rican

Walking in you are surrounded by the amazing smell of coffee! There are so many different types and I love that they are all stored in burlap sacks. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is helpful. So far we are very happy with the French Mocha Java and the Pumpkin Spice, YUM! You love coffee? You need to check this place out!

It’s a hard to find a coffee and tea shop that offers high quality of both in quantity, but Porto Rico bridges that gap and then some. There’s only a very narrow corridor to walk through because the floor is lined up with large burlap sacks of coffee and the walls are filled from floor to ceiling with varieties of tea, some of which I’ve never heard of. Same goes with accessories, they have a good variety of equipment, and the pricing is relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of different tea shops I’ve frequented over the years. There is a mini carryout café in the back, and the latte I had was smooth and delicious. I asked one of the workers for a recommendation on tea, and he turned me on to an organic aged yunnan puehr that he assured me gets better with age. I’m not going to be able to tell if if the tea he recommended ages well, because I can’t stop drinking it, it’s so delicious. 5 stars, looking forward to a return trip.

I stumbled across this gem one morning while taking a walk down Grand st. If you love coffee you have to give this place or one of its other locations a try. Great selection of beans, appliances/accessories as well as a coffee bar in the back of the shop. I’ve noticed that some reviews are unfavorably critical of the employees here but the guy that helped me was mellow and nice and I didn’t have a problem with him at all. The girl in the front greeted me when I walked in so I felt welcome. It’s a job to them that they may not like and everyone has their bad days, give ‘em a break! Anyway I went to the bar in the back and had a Mexican Dark roast. It was absolutely delicious. Easily some of the best coffee I’ve had in my life. The best I’ve had was in Rome while I was studying abroad but Porto Rico has the best coffee I’ve had in the United States. I will definitely be visiting this place again
