Half a rack of ribs were delicious with a little heat, juicy and thick. The pork shoulder were tender and more on the smoky side. The key lime pie crust was buttery graham cracker goodness with walnuts. The place is outdoors and bustling with families and music… Can be hard to find seating and if your are not used to the BBQ scene the smoke can be overwhelming.

The five star reviews must be for the event space, not the food. The space is great — large open outdoor space with separate stations for food and libations. Good music. Good people. Great place for mingling. The food: 1.5 stars. The $ 15 tri-tip is probably the toughest I’ve had. Ever. On par with what you might get at a low price fast food sandwich place(take Shorty’s for example). I had to RIP it a part with my hands to even be able to tear off bite sized pieces. On top of that it was served very very cold, like not even room temperature. The spicy sausage was tasty, however. Very nice mix of flavor with the provolone and peppers cooked into the sausage. I admit, I liked it. I will never eat here again, but if I had to I’d get the sausage. All in all, one of the absolute worst food experiences I’ve had in a while. The venue, however, is very nice. I’ll definitely return for the cool outdoor space and drinks.

I can only write about the ambiance and drinks at Pig Beach also didn’t have any of the food/bbq, but that’s all you need to here about to be won over. I went on a Thursday night and it wasn’t too crowded, lots of seats still available. It was just super pleasant to sit in their courtyard, it’s like you don’t even notice the gowanus canal right beside you. And maybe the bbq smell masked any canal odors. The beer selection is also a big bonus, lots of interesting beers to try from at reasonable prices. Usually such places are jam packed and obnoxiously loud, but it certainly wasn’t. I will be back Pig Beach!

Pig Beach gets 2 stars because the tri-tips, ribs and wings were all great. It loses three stars because they overcharged my credit card and even though I’ve called them 3 times and gone there in person and spoke to a Manager named Josh and showed him my receipt and bank records, they’ve done nothing to resolve the issue. Josh promised yesterday that he would call me back and hasn’t. I called again this evening only to get an automated system again for the 3rd time and no call back after leaving 3 very polite messages over the course of almost 2 weeks. It’s a shame because I want to go back, but after their dubious lack of customer service on an issue that was admittedly(by the manager) their fault, I can’t rationalize patronizing a business that overcharges me and does nothing to resolve the issue. If you do decide to eat there, pay in cash.

Went here for the first time last night. Great ribs, really enjoyed them. Tri-tip was ok, a little rare for my taste. Wife enjoyed the burger. Place was packed and it was difficult to find a seat and to get drinks. The ribs are definitely worth going back for!

OK, so if you hate kids, please do stay away… during the afternoon. It’s not like they’re hellions off leash, just what you might expect in Carroll Gardens/Gowanus — young fams needing some R&R and a brew. If you’re looking for a laid back, outdoor green ambiance with some families thrown in and a side of solid BBQ and full cocktail bar you’ve found your home(please note that Pig Beach — is now the name of not only the BBQ but the whole establishment(FKA Swan Dive) Pig Beach is the perfect mix of open air beer garden, solid family style food and friendly bartenders and servers. I’m sure the kid factor decreases as the sun goes down but the vibe remains chill. Treat yourself to some pulled pork, home made pickles and the surprisingly good tomato salad served on a cardboard tray at a communal picnic table. New this year are actual restrooms and even an indoor seating area and small courtyard for more intimate gatherings. Don’t fill up if you want to do the perfect weekend exacta — Pig Beach to Ample Hills(just across the Gowanus canal).

Wow! Food was delicious! Wish I had a seat to enjoy it better. Turkey was extremely tasty.

Fantastic place. Amazing food and service, awesome drinks and great open air(and now inside as well) ambiance. This is the second summer for this place which during the off season installed all new restrooms and added some inside space in the event of rain. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Definitely no attitude behind this all-star backed venture. A great place to come with friends /colleagues. Clearly one of the best BBQ establishments in the NYC area.

This spot just reopened for the summer(formally Swan Dive) and oh my, this place is amazing and a HUGE improvement. The BBQ was super delicious and unique(the wings were great as were the ribs), plenty of space to sit and enjoy the sun, and very dog and kid friendly. A perfect place to spend a Sunday, summer afternoon. IMPROVEMENTS: — there are now SWANKY, INDOOR, CLEAN bathrooms — major upgrade from the«fancy» port-a-potties. — the space is much larger with a quiet back area as well as indoor space

The best BBQ in Brooklyn hands down. My only complaint is that it’s not open 12 months a year… great food, great beer selection, great atmosphere.

Ate here for the first time… it was AMAZING! The burger is incredible. Also, the sausage with the cheese and Jalepeno is ridiculous!

Once upon a time, during the Summer of 2015, Swan Dive, a big outdoor beer garden located right by the Gowanus Canal, decided to partner up with Pig Beach to serve some BBQ. I thought«What a wonderful concept» until I actually experienced it. Looks can be deceiving & in this case, it was. Before heading to Pig Beach, I scrolled through some pics on Unilocal & I was so psyched to try the food here with friends but it was a FAIL. Here’s a recap: Tri Tip Steak & Pulled Pork — both were well cooked but it lacked flavor so I had to drench them in BBQ sauce Baby Back Ribs — had an amazing rub with herbs & spices but it was undercooked Potato Bread — edible & saved me from starvation If you are looking for the restrooms, there are none. But you can use the available Porta-Potties at your own risk: they are NASTY. Also, this is a pet friendly beer garden/BBQ venue so beware of dog poo. You either may step in it or smell it in the air. And no, that smell is not coming from the Gowanus Canal. The 3 star rating goes to the staff who provided good service. The gentleman at the Pig Beach food counter was friendly & the woman taking drink orders at Swan Dive was attentive & knew how to handle a big crowd.

After reading the terrible review of Pig Beach on The Gothamist I was a little bit worried when a friend told me he was having his birthday here. Luckily I chose to come here anyway because I had a great time and the food was delicious. This place definitely had a backyard bbq feel complete with drunk moms with their small children running around, tons of dogs, and long lines. All the staff were friendly and they come around to clean off tables fairly often. Drink prices and selection were good and I though food prices were reasonable as well. I had a briggy which was a burger with pulled pork on top of it. At $ 13 it’s a little spendy but also filling. The burger was cooked really well and the pulled pork was nice and juicy. It definitely needs a bit of sauce and a mixing a bit of the bbq, vinegar, and hot sauce is the perfect combination. I also got a sausage link, at $ 6 I thought it was a little expensive. It had a nice snap to it and a bit of heat and was delicious. Overall I enjoyed my night here and I’d definitely come back. Personally I’d rate the food and ambience a step above dinosaur bbq.

B frequents here a lot, so we did a field trip out here and I am not a huge meat eater and I have to be in the mood for bbq. I know, it’s weird, since I am from the South, but like I said, I don’t eat too much meat. I got the Bullfight — it had jalapeño and tequila, it wasn’t as good and it wasn’t spicy at all. It just tasted like a really cheap tequila that didn’t go down smoothly. Moving on, I went to wash my hand with the makeshift sink, but I said, I better use the port-a-potty before it gets too crazy. Okay, it was already crazy, because I almost threw up in my mouth. I had to hold my breath, so I am able to withstand the horrific smell. Moving on to the food, I told B I don’t like ribs, it has never been my thing. I like rack of lamb, but not bbq ribs. B ended up letting me decide, since B is good with everything. B said the tri-tip was good, so I trusted B and got it, with the Spicy Sausage Links and pulled pork with side of sweet pickles. Tri-Tip — it was good. Very surprised, since I am always skeptical when it comes to bbq from NY, it is the same feeling that I have about Vietnamese, Mexican and Cajun/Creole food. Pulled Pork — good as well, this is my go-to meat and this is the sort of bbq that I like, this and brisket. But they didn’t offer brisket here, so yeah, made me a pulled pork sandwich. Sausage — eh, this was disappointing, the casing didn’t have that nice crunch that I would like to have, you know hearing the snap of the casing in your mouth. It wasn’t even flavourful, I definitely wouldn’t get this again. Or perhaps it was just the batch that we got… off night? Sum of this place, it is good, but I definitely would stay away from using the restroom here at all cost.

Great experience. Most notable thing was the care and attention the cooks/chefs put into serving the food. They were so meticulous picking through the pieces of meat to make sure there weren’t overally fatty pieces, etc. They also weigh the food to make sure you get the right amount, which I appreciated. Probaby even more important is that they are grabbing a slicing pieces fresh. I was really impressed with all of that. And the results were great. The food was fantastic. I had pulled pork, sausage, and turkey… all of which exceeded expectations, especially the turkey, which was better than the smoked turkey breast I had in Austin a month ago. Tomato salad was great too! Drinks were good also, and, overall I thought it was a great value overall.

–Nice space — filled with picnic tables, bar tables and side tables. –Bar — nice selection of beer, pleasant servers –BBQ — only okay for the $$. It’s worth it if you are going to enjoy the outdoor space, beers etc. I will say the BBQ section is still new and figuring out their ordering flow– it can be a bit confusing when there’s no one in line to help guide your eyes. Also, once there is a line the wait can be quite long. –BBQ –The service was terrible and there’s really only one person to blame — our meat server was standoffish and didn’t make eye contact(and seemed bothered when I asked for some bread) but to be fair he was really nice to the people next to us — this was actually infuriating but I thought I’d still give the place a chance. –Ambiance — After spending $ 100 on baby back ribs, pulled pork and a few sides(one of which wasn’t what I ordered but had exchanged) we tried to switch from our bar table to a picnic table — BEWARE — on Sunday there are lots of children around, and as much I enjoy children I don’t enjoy entitled parents who take up twice as many picnic tables(just so that their kids can leave crayons on while they run around) and are inconsiderate of people who are trying to sit and eat.(Again, to be fair, we asked if we could use one of their unoccupied tables, they said yes and when we walked over didn’t move or acknowledge we were there) Overall tI wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re looking for a cool atmosphere or until they’ve worked out BBQ wait time, a fair order to the seating system, and some nicer servers.

Heard this opened yesterday so decided to check out. Empty on this cold cloudy day but cheap drink prices($ 6 for otherhalf and $ 9 cocktails keeping me warm). Space is really quite incredible. Huge outdoor L shaped area with large bar in back and BBQ in front. Smells incredible as well. Super friendly staff and definitely a place I could see spending all day at. This place is going to be out of control once word get out. Okay, so on to the food. No pulled pork sandwich which is mind blowing since the have hamburgers and hotdogs. Despite on being literally 6 patrons here they were out of brisket which was disappointing(of course not going to hold against them since second day). We went with ½ pound of pulled pork and ½ pound of ribs and 4 deviled eggs for $ 29 bucks. Service is absolutely great and makes you want to order although have to admit a little disappointed when you see your food pulled out of a cooler(can’t blame them as this is outdoors). My friend referred to the deviled eggs as pigeon deviled eggs although robin eggs may have been more appropriate as they were tiny. Nonetheless they tasted great and at $ 4 I am not complaining. The pulled pork was the highlight; really excellent. They have a great array of sauces to go with it although no cups to put in so kind of just spreads across tray. The ribs had a good flavor but were super dry. Not holding against them as place is only a day old, but may want to wait a few months until I try again. They give you two slices of white bread with your meal which is nice but would have much preferred a Martins potato roll so I could have made excellent pulled pork sandwich. Despite the ribs will definitely be back.

Stunning tri-tip sirloin, delectable pulled pork shoulder, fantastic baby back ribs, incredible double-cheese ‘burger, wonderful turkey breast, decadent pork & pepper sausage… And all the sides(deviled eggs, pineapple cole slaw, tomato salad, sweet pickles, short rib chili) were really great, too… Honestly, even all the sauces were amazing(white bbq, red bbq, hatch vinegar, green hot)… Beautiful location, friendly staff, spacious tables, low prices… Cannot wait to return again and again, all summer long…
