Papa mike is the rudest pizza shop owner i have ever met. This place has been around my neighborhood since I was a child. As a life long New Yorker I know good pizza. Also being a traveler I also have met many great people from all over. I have never seen such rudeness from a man in my life. Complete disconnect discontent and similar manners as the soup nazi from Seinfield(only that guy carried some culture with him). Papa Mike needs an attitude adjustment and has needed for years. Pizza is average prices are as well, of course as many italian places in America overwhelming portions. But one thing has never changed this guy shoos customers away for years and wonders why his constant remodeling never surfaces the kind of business that surrounds his establishment. Lets wish him peace. But spare yourself the negativity.

This cute pizza joint is something my best friend had taken me to eat. I really truly enjoy brick oven pizza. I remember the first time I had their margarita round pizzas and I remember it melting in my mouth. It was so cheesy and fluffy and perfectly baked Today I had ordered a rice ball, calamari, and a large fresh basil round pizza. The rice ball was really yummy. As all riceballs typically are. I feel like you can never go wrong with rice balls and if as a chef you do… Just give up and look for a new career choice. The calamari was my favorite. It was jumbo sized. I hate smaller sized calamari. It was cooked well. Not over cooked at all and the calamari maintain a nice chewy taste to it. It was actually really good. The round basil pizza is not as amazing to die for like the margarita pizza but is is rly good. Just not as good. The cheese on it was fresh and good. Everything about this was a solid 8, where as I would rate the margarita a solid 10⁄10 I’m really picky with my soda companies. For instance I don’t drink coke. I drink Pepsi only. I don’t drink Canada Dry, I only drink Seagrams. I felt bad because I asked the lady at the front(who by the way is really nice) if they had Pepsi and she said no we have coke, so I kindly declined. Then I annoyed her some more with my pickiness and asked her if she had ginger ale and she said yes and then I also asked what kind and she’s like I’m not too sure. I was rly happy to find she had Seagrams ginger ale lol or else I would’ve stuck to water. & im glad she didn’t find me slightly annoying because too be honest, It is annoying to be that picky. Lol she was just rly nice I guess The place is cute. I would come here for a low key date. I like everything about this place. The set up. The light. The ambiance. Everything. Just the perfect classy upscale pizzeria to me. Only concern today was, it was hot as shit outside and this place had no ac on. I’m assuming it was broken though because it was way to hot in there they have wifi which makes me really happy because my service was just so sucky today the bathroom smelled slightly like pee but it wasn’t like way strong either/But it was there over all this is my favorite pizzeria to go to thus far in Bensonhurst.

Best in the neighborhood. Pride of ownership with Mike still behind the counter flipping pizzas! Still as good as a remember it 30 years ago as a young kid. Go to Mike’s, get some great pizza and chat a while. Enjoy!

I’ve been getting pizza from Papa Mike’s almost every Friday for the past 12 years, and it has always tasted amazing, since Papa Mike knew I was a regular who came every Friday to buy a large pie. He personally made the pizza, fresh and in front of me. Very nice guy, funny man as well. He would also give me free garlic knots or a bottle of Pepsi for free, which was always nice of him. I always got the regular pie, or sometimes the pepperoni pie. They’re pretty good for NY pizza, and the atmosphere of the place always keep me coming back for more. I gave it 4 stars because they don’t really have a whole lot of variety of pizzas, and I would like to see some more up on the menu.

I catered some pizza for my kids birthday party.(8 pizza pies) It was pretty good. The gentleman who helped my wife was courteous and helpful. They were right on time as promised. Reasonably priced. Recommend to friends.

I grew up on this pizza and it’s just as good today as it was back then! We would go to church across the st. and then go to Mikes for a slice. He’s not as friendly as he used to be but I would still keep going back! ;)

I frequently order pizza from this place and it is good local pizza. It is a family owned pizzeria and the grandpa there is friendly. I would recommend the Marinara, Margherita, or Pizza ala Vodka to try. Would give it a 5-star, but one time when I ordered the Chicken marsala, the chicken was a little dry. They are prompt with delivery or pickup.

Best pizza in bensonhurst, I live near there and there are tons of other pizzerias but this is the best and amazing service. The owner and staff are kind and diligent. Cleaner and fancier than typical pizzerias.

Great place. Mike is an older fellow. He makes me and my family feel very welcome every time we are there. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is a limited pizza selection. Even though they do have a pretty good size menu.

I’ve had better, I’m not going to lie and sugar coat this review. Papa Mikes isn’t terrible by any stretch, it’s just not up to par with some of the great spots in the area. I used to go here a lot years ago, and I recently went back for dine-in while waiting for my dogs to be groomed up the block. It looks great inside! It’s spacious with plenty of tables and a nice brick walls. The brick oven is an attractive centerpiece when you walk in. The family is still busting their hump in the back and the workers are friendly and fast. It’s hard to talk negative about a place that has so many positives, but then you get to the pizza. I’ll focus on three different slices I’ve had recently: Their Sicilian is OK, a bit too greasy for my liking but at least the cheese was not rubbery and the dough was cooked well. It was just ok. Their fresh mozzarella was pretty bad, the cheese did not mesh well with the watery tomato sauce underneath and it was just overall not good. Their buffalo chicken slice on the other hand is very good, consistent all around with not too much grease and flavors that were pleasing! You are not travelling to go to Papa Mikes, if it’s the closest place for you then there’s nothing wrong with going but it’s probably not a number one option for anyone.

We just moved in the neighborhood and were relieved to find Papa Mike’s close by. We were even more relieved to find that the pizza is delicious and served by some of the nicest people. We’ve tried their regular pie, margarita pie, penne with vodka sauce, garlic bread, and salad. Everything is delicious. We order from them all the time, even though we’re all settled in. I’m kind of shocked about the bad reviews(tasting like frozen pizza, etc.). We’ve been around the block, Brooklyn pizza-wise and would recommend our friends order from Mike’s. They’re definitely a solid choice that won’t leave you hungry or disappointed.

The pizza here tastes like Elio’s. I tried both a sicilian and neopolitan slice. Shape didn’t matter. If you’re a 14 year old Unilocaler with a hankering for crispy, cardboard crust and«space» cheese, here’s a hidden gem. The two stars are for the open air ambience and exposed brick interior.

I have been a regular at Mike’s since early childhood. When I first started going there they had just about three items: A Square, A Round, and Ices! As I have come of age, so has(Papa) Mike’s Pizza. They now have a nice variety of pasta dishes, sandwiches, burgers, riceballs, etc. What I really like about mike’s are the variety of new pizzas they carry. The new ideas are great, while keeping the originals still to a high standard. The new renovations are really nice, with the new brick oven and the staff is always nice. I am just glad to see this place is still around and hope it remains a Bensonhurst Staple for years to come.

I don’t have anything in particular against this place, but after my second visit, I think I’ve had sufficient experience to give a proper review. My expectations were set a little higher especially given the previously reviews, most of which are very positive. The service is excellent — very nice people greeted me at the entrance, definitely a very friendly bunch. However, that’s the only positive point about this place. I ordered pizza here twice. After being disappointed the first time, I assumed it may have been bad timing. The pizza here is average at best. The cheese slides off instantly if held upright. The crust was thick and hard. The flavor is definitely on the lacking side and the taste was a little bland. Overall, I was not too impressed with their pizza.

I’ve been a pizza fan my whole life and this is the best pizza I’ve ever had! I don’t think I’ve tried anything and said«this isn’t good». If you can make your way over to 20th avenue for a slice of pizza I recommend that you do!

I hate to upset or disagree with my fellow Unilocalers. Maybe we were at the pizza place at a wrong time. Went there y’day on our way home. We ordered two regular slices as we were excited to discover a brick oven pizza place not very far from us. Papa Mike was there behind the counter and I found him to be sweet and friendly. The place is absolutely spic and span. However, digging our first bites in the slice left a lot to be desired. The slices were stale, flavorless and without any salt or seasoning. We are regulars at La Bella and Lenny’s in the neighborhood. Its just sad that we didn’t have a 5 star experience at Papa Mike’s. Maybe we might go back to give it another try again soon.
