For what it is, it’s the best around. The deli sandwiches are really really fresh and good and very fairly priced at $ 3.50. They make it just the way you want it with veggies and condiments to your liking. The best part is the selection of meats and cheeses. Salsa turkey? Chipotle gouda? Um, yes please. It’s probably my favorite place to get deli sandwiches. Also Papa’s is one of the few places around that takes credit card. Oh yeah — and they are super friendly!

Good beer selection. Friendly staff. Did I mention the empanadas?

I came to this place at the corner of Nostrand and Madison to buy some beer a late evening a few days ago. This is the only place close to where I live that sells one of my favorite IPAs: Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. At $ 2 a bottle it is more expensive than, say, Sierra Nevada or Blue Moon in your average Bed-Stuy deli/grocery. Still, this is the only Dogfish Head you can get around here. This place also seems larger, cleaner, and better stocked than most delis in the area. And there are A LOT of them.
