Fun store. Eclectic and excellent selection of food stuffs and Russian candy. It has a butcher shop. If I lived here I would shop here. I bought items I can’t find in DC. They don’t speak much English.

The variety and quality of food will take your mind off the simple decorative surroundings and one would not notice by name that this is mainly a Russian market. Papa Carlo is not your ordinary market as it sells high quality gourmet products that range from fresh-baked bread and rolls to meats, coffee’s, candies, cakes, smoked meats, fish and more. A good variety of packaged foods, but clearly the butcher area for fresh meats holds center stage, which is located at the far end of Papa Carlo’s entrance. On your way to the butcher department, there is so much to see in this semi confined space. The bins of candy wrapped in bright and shiny wrappings makes each sweet treat look like a Christmas present, prices range from $ 5.99 to $ 8.99 a pound. The cured meats section blew me away with all that they offer, it took me a dedicated ten minutes to read the labels and examine the wide array of choices, it left me dizzy and oddly unable to choose. I thought it best to keep exploring and come back once my senses have been reset. Prices on all items are very reasonable, especially on cheese, dried fruits and nuts, however I did not see any produce, but as I mentioned earlier the space is limited. Not only is their food very fresh, but it is also a healthy cuisine. When I was shopping there I felt Papa Carlos business model is to provide the customer with an outstanding and distinctive international selection at reasonable prices. Catering for all occasions, private parties available. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by Papa Carlo’s, you will be glad you did.
