I bought their baklava sampler for $ 20. None of the varieties tasted good. My housemate, who can pretty much eat anything, tried some and agreed that it wasn’t the best baklava available.
I expected more from a Middle Eastern bakery. It’s a big disappointment. To give you an idea, I bought this sampler on Sunday and left it out for a house full of guys. There’s still plenty of baklava left on the tray.

Fairly authentic Palestinian pastry shop. The sweets are made well and the prices are good. It’s in expensively ornate in a neighborhood where looking less nice would be acceptable. Have a coffee and a treat and you’ll feel recharged.

I will be forever grateful to my friend, Henry, for introducing me to this bakery.
Although my palette is starting to change (not much of a sweets fan anymore), I always make it my business to frequent Nablus Sweets when a craving for Mediterranean sweets hits me. Baklava, rice pudding, all of their desserts with dates are a must!

Come here when I am in the bay ridge area, but every time it just gets worse. The pastries are dry and old tasting. Last night got 2 mamoul which were okay, then knafa bil ishta which was gross. Oh and the funny thing is they charged extra for syrup, first time in my life here and in any arab country have been charged extra for syrup LOL. Staff isnt too friendly either, only good thing is they are open kinda late, but better off going to Steinway in astoria for better arabic sweets

Cool spot with per-​pound signs on the wall, they’ve been selling Palestinian treats for 20 years and started in NJ. Their specialty kanefa is only slightly sweet, and thus not my thing, but respect.

I always go here when I am in Bayridge. Its conveniently located to all of my grocery shops that I go to. Although I prefer homemade or Laziza in Astoria Queens, this place comes close to home. They have everything you can think of in Nablus from ma3mool, Baklava, almond cookies, Moroccan chebakia, awamat and my favorite item, BASBOUSA! I
The basbousa does have a little bit too much syrup and the syrup itself is kinda heavy. Someone mentioned it might be corn syrup and I agree that it has that type of texture but WHATEVER! I like my arabic sweets drenched in syrup and sweet!
Like I mentioned the pastry shops off Steinway in Astoria are better but this is a good spot to try if you are around.
NOTE: I’ve noticed during ramadan the quality is better, maybe because they have more traffic. Also one of the servers is always cranky. Don’t mind the attitude, she’s not that bad! lol

One of the worst baklava ever. To start with, they use CORN SYRUP to sweeten their baklava instead of using what is known as Sheera (real sugar and water). I come from a middle eastern background and have tried several if not hundreds of baklava before, and this is by far the worst one. They also over sweeten the baklava perhaps to be heavier on the scale since they sell it by pound; the filling they claim as mixed nuts is in fact few nuts with a ton amount of what seems to be semolina. Soooo disappointed.

I get it, it’s a middle eastern bakery in the middle of a middle eastern strip. But when I specify what I want twice, and make sure it’s what I’m getting and you give me something that’s NOT it, and overcharge me for it, I’m not happy. You’re better off at Cedars where they know their product AND know how to communicate properly.

Definitely came here to try out the baklava everyone’s raving about. I love baklava– one of my favorite desserts. I think I’m used to eating them from a Greek place, where there’s more crispy phyllo on top, so I was a little disappointed here.
I tried their mixed nuts and pistachio baklavas. They were both really sweet, which is pretty normal for baklava. The mixed nut one had a sponge cake bottom, a pretty big layer of nuts and chewiness, then only like two layers of phyllo on top. The pistachio one was sweeter even, and didn’t get to taste much pistachio. Mixed nuts one was better.
They were decent, pretty small pieces, and it’s cheap here! I got 8 pieces for only $ 6. They weigh by the pound.

Nablus has a similar assortment to Cedar’s a few blocks away, except Cedar’s also has ice cream and has kunafa in cake form where you can get a big slice for $ 3. The staff at Nablus spoke better english than at Cedar’s so they were able to explain each pastry well.

This is quite possibly the best middle eastern bake shop in bay ridge. The baklava is AMAZING, and sometimes i’ll try different baked goods and they’re always 110% on point. They’re also less expensive than some of the other similar bakeries around Bay Ridge.

Best (if not the only) Middle Eastern pastry shop that I know of.
Nablus is a unique pastry shop that offers a variety of freshly baked Middle Eastern pastries.
Everything is made fresh and baked in house, you can choose a variety of a pastry’s to enjoy with some Tea or coffee… their middle eastern desserts are all unique and most likely nothing like any other pastry you have tried before.
Their pastry’s are flaky yet dense, sweet and made fresh with ingredients like pistachios, figs and honey.
Their Keneffa is a must try, made fresh in house with imported cheese from the middle east. Keneffa is a Soft cheese that is served warm with honey… its their specialty.
They sell their freshly baked desserts by the pound, don’t be shy, make sure to order a little bit of everything.
This is a hidden gem in Brooklyn.

Nablus has the best middle eastern treats around! This cute little place decorated with pink paint and hanging Christmas lights has a large variety of all the delicious Arabic desserts. I love walking in here. It’s just got this nice homey feel. Like as if grandma is in the back baking.
You don’t have a menu. You basically have to pick your desserts by eye, as they are all laid out in front of you. It’s such a hard decision each time! I want everything!!! Lol. You can tell its all fresh and baked the same day. They also offer pre pacaked desserts as well. But the star of the show, and all my Arabic people know what I’m talking about, is the «kanefa». This is the best dessert in the world and Nablus is the only place I know that serves it. Kanefa is a middle eastern dessert that is usually served only during their holidays or special occasions, hence why a lot of places don’t serve it. Luckily nablus serves it year round!!! Its basically and imported cheese from the middle east that get covered with semolina and gets baked until it is oozing and bubbling and they then pour a light syrup over it! The best! I haven’t met one person yet that dislikes this dessert.
The other desserts they carry are just as delicious, but the kanefa is where its at! Everything is as authentic as it gets. The women behind the counter are always nice and attentive. I really enjoy this place.
Now go get some Kanefa!

Come here for the best pistachio baklava!
You’d be shocked at how hard it is to find the perfect baklava. Most are too this or that. But Nablus has done it just right.
The guy was even kind enough to give me the freshly made one, despite the late hour we arrived :)

Flaky, syrupy, caramelized, nutty goodness can be found here. I will be holding out on all future ethnic dessert purchases until I can return to this establishment.

Chocolate Baklava.
The Brooklyn branch of Nablus Sweets would be the first non-​Greek establishment where I’ve tried the Chocolate Baklava. I would have loved it even more if the chocolate had been darker and of higher cocoa content (it would contrast well with the Pistachio filling) or served as one of the many layers, but still the Baklava is good and flaky.
I would normally not review another branch of Nablus (beyond the flagship one in NJ), but another review is merited for the fact that the two don’t share the same kitchen and have slightly different desserts available, the Brooklyn branch carrying a larger proportion of western cakes and pastries as well. I was pleasantly surprised to see two warm trays of Aziza and Shehad emerge from the kitchen for I had suspected that all the baking would be done in the NJ location. There were also different/​additional choices available for the Harissa (the semolina cake) and the refrigerated case also had the rice pudding (Rizb bil haleeb) and the Muhallabiya that I’ve not found in the NJ location during my few visits. The Muhallabiya was in fact so light that I wondered whether I had gotten the sugar free version!
I still prefer the NJ location, which probably sees more turnover and foot traffic. Not to mention that while the service is competent in the Brooklyn branch, it lacks the warmth of the staff at the New Jersey outlet.
